Family post - DH's Birthday

Hallo,
Just a short note to let you know what I have been up to this week - had alot of family in town for my DH's 50th Birthday. My Mom and Step-Dad were the first to arrive - he accually knew they were coming as it made me making arrangements for vacation time easier.
Thursday evening was when most of his family arrived and we surprised him - they went ahead to one of our favorite resterants and we met them there.
Then saturday afternoon his cousin and wife from Texas arrived and surprised him and lastly we had a party set up for sat. evening and our great friends from Virginia arrived :). All in all we had a really good time. I didn't take enough pictures but also didn't blog most of them.....

These first 2 pictures are of my folks 'helping' my DD with her science fair project - worms and composting - here she is finding all her worms and transfering them to another bucket to weigh.
The next few pics are mostle from the party - I got DH a Tiki carving with a dew rag....
A couple pics of DH unwrapping presents, one with the kiddos behind him.
The last couple pics of our friends from Virginia.
Thank-you everyone who came from out of town- including both our Moms, Step-Dad, DHs sister and hubby, DHs niece and hubby, both my brothers and one brothers wife and kiddos, DHs cousin and wife from Tx and the clan from VA.
Thanks also to the crazy locals who also made time to come!!!!!
All for tonight - and you may not see much of me here for the next week or so - tomorrow I aim to tackle some organizing in my craft room and then I work 6 of the next 8 days.
Have A Great Thanksgiving!!!!!!

Mani, Pedi MFT

Hallo,
I did this cute little box for this weeks SYTYCS challenge over in the My Favorite Things forum on Splitcoaststampers..... the challenge this week was 'Krumpin' - Bling and Shout!!!
This is a cigar box covered with Basic Grey paper that I have been hoarding - love this pack of paper (I need about 14 more!!!)
The set is from MFT - the 2 images on the top were colored with copics and a little white gel pen to make the robe look fuzzy - and I did a little paper piecing too. The black is a sticker strip which I added rhinestones to - and I added a rhinestone crown to the corner of one of the images too.
I colored and cut out the nail polish bottles and glued them to thin cardboard and then used alot of stickles glitter on them - I put some on the front and more on the inside lid.
Inside the box I put a nail kit, some salon style emory boards, and a pumice stone - all of which I decorated with matching papers, and a punch edged with gold mettalic pen and stamped with a phrases from the same set.
Coloring was done with copics, a little white gel pen, and some spica glitter pens. I also did some paper piecing on the main images.

Flourishes challenge

Hallo,
Whew - this last stetch of days at work has worn me out!!!!!! But now I have 8 - 8 -days off!!!!!
My Mom and my Step-Dad are coming to visit this week!!!!!
Anyway - I managed to get 2 seperate projects done today - and some errands.....
This project is for this weeks - FTTC challenge over at Flourishes - www.flourishesnewsletter.blogspot.com
The challenge was to make a gift box or bag - I started this project friday evening and finished it today - didn't get it done before I lost daylight so the photos aren't as good...
I had the idea for the plaque and then made the bag to match.
The base of the plaque and on the strips on the bag are kraft cardstock run through the cuttlebug and then swiped over it with white ink - edged it with silver metallic pen.
The main image is stamped onto a nestie label die and colored using 'Sepia Technique' from Technique Junkies. Then I pulled out my white diamond Stickles glitter and added it to the trees and snow on the ground and in the air.
The phrase is from the same Flourishes set stamped onto a spellbinders fancy tag, a gold ribbon, and a couple brown rhinestones.

All for tonight - Take care
Tera

Go Nicholas!!!!!

Hallo,
I am preposting again as I will be at work today and I am not sure how the day will roll on tuesday with TS Ida coming to play.
I made this card for my Nephew Nicholas.
The football team he plays on is going to the 'Super Bowl' as they won their division championship. They play this weekend - I just hope it gets to him in time as I doubt the mail goes on tuesday due to Ida and with Veterans Day on wednesday - it won't get in the mail until thursday.
Good Luck Nicholas!!!!!!

All stamps are from Gina K - colored with copics.
And yes Nicholas's number is 28 and I colored it to match as close to their shirts as possible, and their helmets are red with a W on it too - :)
All for today - Take Care

Reindeer Plaques

Hallo,
Well Ida kinda missed us here - didn't even get much rain.....That's a good thing!!!!
I played around with some plaques I found at the Dollar tree a couple months ago. The backround on the first one is gray paper run through the cuttlebug snowflakes embossing folder and then swiped with white ink and edged with silver mettalic pen. Silver snowflake ribbon with silver edge next. Top layers are both cut with spellbinders dies in my cuttle bug and stamped with stamps from Flourishes.
The reindeer is colored with copics.
I did these for a challenge on the Flourishes blog - www.flourishesnewsletter.blogspot.com - our inspration was the 'my favorite things' song from the movie 'The Sound of Music' and the lines I chose were 'snowflakes that stick to nose and eyelashes' and 'silver white winters that turn into springs'
On this first one I added a tough of red stickles to the reindeers nose and to the tag.

The second plaque I used the snowflake folder on white cardstock and swiped it with blue ink, used blue ink to stamp the phrase and found a couple small blue rhinestones to add to the tag.
On both I traded out the string to hang it with for thin silver trim.
All for today - working again...

Grillin' and Chillin'

Hallo,
I am preposting this monday evening for ya - TS Ida is coming to visit, although she's looking more like just a big thunderstorm, you can never tell.
I did this for the challenge in the My Favorite Things forum at SCS - SYTYCSWK5 - the challenge was for a modern look with clean and simple lines.....I am not sure I managed to hit any of those with this card but I do like how it turned out!!!

I used 2 different MFT sets.
I doodled in the brick wall and the pattern and fringe on the blanket.
I rediscovered doodles from a tutorial on the Flourishes blog by 'One Krafty Kat' Look here - www.flourishesnewsletter.blogspot.com and here - www.onekraftykat.blogspot.com Colored with copics.
This card started out simpler and then I added and added.....I planed to just use one main image but couldn't decide which - I spose I would have come closer to 'clean lines' with only one image but.....I like it anyway!!!!!
The grill has silver metallic pen for the top with the coals showing through it - which turned out pretty cool IRL.

All for now - Hurricaine party - my house - tomorrow - movies and popcorn all ready.....
Take Care

White Believe

Hallo,
Happy Friday morning to ya'll. I am at work today so will leave you a little something to look at....
This is an 8X10 picture to frame. I started this from a challenge in the MFT forum over at Splitcoast Stampers and had the stamp sets, cuttlebug folders, and nesties all picked out and then was stumped - good thing I had a great sketch from my friend Vicki just waiting for me to put it to use.
Pop over to Vicki's blog to see what everyone else did with this great sketch - http://www.vickichrisman.blogspot.com/
The challenge at the My Favorite Things forum was to use mostly white and stamps from MFT. I don't have any MFT Christmas or winter stamps so I decided to use one of my mostest favoritest sets called 'We're in this together.' You can find their great stamps here - http://www.mftstamps.com/
The base of this picture (on top of heavy weight chipboard) is white cardstock embossed with 4 different cuttlebug folders and then lightly brushed with embossing ink and glittery gold powder.

Next I cut several nestie labels layers and ran them through the cuttlebug folders, and edged all with gold mettalic pen.
I cut a ribbon slide also, edged with gold pen and stamped on it and slide some pink ribbon through it.
There are 3 different white and cream ribbons, a couple cream flowers, and some pink rhinestones.
The MFT stamped layers are colored with copics and some pink spica glitter pen for the ribbons on their shirts.
The poem is one I really love from Cornish Heritage Farms - called 'Cancer is so Limited' and you can find it here - http://www.cornishheritagefarms.com/
Whew - lots of typeing today.....I really like how this turned out!!!!!
My Mom was diagnosed with Breast Cancer 2 years ago - had surgery but they caught it early so no chemo or radiation. 2 years and counting!!!!!!
Have a great weekend!!!!!
Tera
P.S. This was accually sortof a second attempt as I did another one with more pink on the bottom layer but liked this one best for the challenge. Will show you the pink version on Monday.....

Flourished Sepia

Hallo,
I am at work today but managed to get something done yesterday to show ya - I decided to do the challenge over at Flourishes from tuesday - FTTC40 - you can find it here - www.flourishesnewsletter.blogspot.com
The challenge was to use neutrals and a colored image. Well this challenge was perfect for a technique from my last months Technique Junkie called Sepia technique.
Chose my image easy enough but then couldn't decide on which cuttlebug folder to use and then couldn't decide which ink to use - white or brown - soooo I did 4. 2 with brown ink on the cuttlebug backround and 2 with white, and I used 3 different cuttlebug folders.
All for today - Take Care

Oriental Box

Hallo,
Just a quick little post today - another cigar box, this one a long and narrow one. I used some more of the oriental Faux Desinger Paper I made using that technique from Technique Junkies.
I had planned something different but while scrounging around my desk I found the leftover piece of black felt sticker and the little red dominos and they looked perfect just as is....

I am making a few long narrow cards to fit inside which you have seen 2 already and should have a couple more to come....
All for today - chores and craftin'....
Take Care
