Summer Surf

Hallo,
Happy Memorial Day!!!
I just have a quick post for you today - we got out for a walk before it rained this am and we plan to run out to our favorite beachside resterant for lunch in a bit....
The rain should clear out in the next hour or so - then it will be a very steamy day out - may have to get in the pool for a bit.
I work tonight and tomorrow night so will prepost something for you tomorrow.
I made this card last week for a sketch challenge over at Stamp TV.

The back round was run through a Cuttlebug texture folder and then sanded over the top to reviel the white core of the paper - but then as I inked the edges with ink to match the narrow panel, I decided to ink up part of the swirls too and thought it looked good that way....
The darker half oval panel was done in the cuttlebug too, only no sanding - just inked up the folder first and then added ink to the texture too.
The narrow panel was done on white cardstock with clear embossing powder and 2 shades of blue ink sponged on top.
The top half oval panel was colored with copics.
All stamps from Gina K.
Have a great Holiday!!!

Yard Work

Hallo,
Just a few photos from around the yard today - the first is one of my rose bushes that I planted this spring. He is still small but as you can see he's got some pretty little blooms.
The next picture is of a stange item that I found and couldn't resist - it is called a bottle tree. We only have about 1/3 of the spots with anything on it right now - eventually I want to get mostly blue and red bottles on it. Since DH works at the recycling center he has been getting me bottles as he finds them - we don't drink much wine.....
Some of the bottles that look clear are accuallt lightly tinted....
The next bunch of pics are of flowers I cut this am from the yard and arranged in 2 vases ....
My favorite is the velvet red lily - I only have 2 of those plants - the color is soo rich!!!!
All for today - worked the last 2 nights - have tonight off and work 2 more - so I don't plan on doing too much.....

Peace Christmas

Hallo,
Quick little post here tonight - need to get my lunch packed for work tonight.....
Did this for this weeks color challenge over at Stamp TV - burgundy and gold.
All stamps from Gina K.
The gold panel is a gold vellum embossed with a cuttlebug folder and the ornament is embossed with gold and colored with copics.
I also colored some flat backed pearls with a gold mettalic pen to match.
I just noticed that the glue isn't quite dry yet - ah well......

If you would say a quick prayer for my youngest brother tonight - he is in the hospital....
Take Care Mike!!!!

All for tonight - gotta get ready for work. Have a great long weekend!!!! I work 4 out of 5 days - all 12 hour shifts starting tonight so no beach time for me this weekend....
Take Care

The Frog Days of Summer

Hallo,
As I was blog surfin yesterday, I came across a fellow stamper who is doing a RAK event for her sister who has terminal cancer. She asked for cheerful cards and her sister also likes frogs.
I sent this first card off to her this am and then finished the other 2 this afternoon - with a few more froggie cards to come, more on that in a minute....
To find out more about this RAK event and how to get involved stop by Lisa's blog here - www.bylisac.blogspot.com/2010/05/special-rak-event-for-my-sister-jayme.html

Soooo when I started looking for scrap paper to paper piece my froggie (from Gina K designs) I pulled out one here, and another one, and another one - I almost couldn't stop - when finished with my frog frenzy I will have a total of 8 frog cards LOL - these 3 were the ones I finished today.......

This first frog I colored with copics, cut him out and layered him to a green cardstock that I had ran through a Cuttlebug folder and sanded off to show the white underneath - this one using a bamboo folder and the next 2 using 2 different leaf folders.....

With the second and third cards I colored froggie and cut him out with a Spellbinders die - as well as the layer underneath with the sanded texture folder.
On all 3 I used up the last little bits of coordinating scraps as accents on the cards - along with some colored rhinestones on the last 2, baubles on the first.
Well all for tonight ya'll - dinner is on the stove and I don't want burnt chicken for dinner.....
Have a Wonderfully Froggie Day!!!!

Channel surfin'

Hallo,
Taking a lunch break from chores to show you a card I made today - colored the image several days ago and put it together this am.
I am getting some cleaning done around the house today but am pacing myself - i.e. rewarding myself.....got up and took the dog for the walk and that seemed to be really tough to do today, but once I got moving it wasn't so bad. So then I worked a bit in the craft room, did a chore, more craft stuff.....only a couple more chores to do today :)
The main image is from Phindys and this weeks challenge was a masculine card. See more here - www.phindysplacechallenge.blogspot.com

I colored the image with copics and cut both panels - main image and phrase from Spellbinders labels dies. The 2 panels are edged with red mettalic pen and the small brads were colored with the red mettalic pen to match.
Phrase is from Gina K.
All for now - more chores to do and the excersise machine has been mocking me so I might have to teach it a lesson too.....LOL
Have a great day!!!

A Mother's Love

Hallo,
Quick post as I should be cooking dinner - kids say they aren't hungry, I am not hungry and DH isn't home yet.......don't feel like cooking yet anyway....
I did this card for this weeks challenge over at Mo's Digital Pencil blog - www.mosdigitalchallenge.blogspot.com
The challenge this week was 'LOVE'. I thought this image was great for that challenge. She is colored with copics and cut - 'out of the box' style with a Spellbinders labels die......layered onto another Spellbinders labels die cut from the cover sheet of a 6X6 paper pack - the one that shows just a bit of each of the papers in the packet (got it a bit crocked I see now....).
I had planned on leaving a bit of the light purple base cardstock show along the edge but I cut the base layer of DP wrong and didn't notice my goof until it was already glued down - grrrr.....
Added a ribbon bow and some flat backed pearls for accent.

I thought she turned out pretty cute even with my goof-s ......
All for tonight - Take Care
Tera

Sunset iris

Hallo,
I made this card today for this weeks Timeless Tuesday challenge over at Flourishes - getting it posted just in time too :)
This weeks challenge was to use chipboard. My chipboard is the purple flourish piece. I found on one of the blogs somewhere that the new Tim Holtz dies would work in the cuttlebug, and I had a coupon for 50% off at A.C.Moore for yesterday so I had to try it. It does work in the cuttlebug when you use only B plates - easy with paper but it was a little tight with the chipboard - but it did work!!! Yippee - I really like this flourish from Tim Holtz!!!
The stamp I used is new from Flourishes - from the set called 'The Beauty Within'. The 2 main images are made to fit spellbinders dies.
I colored the stamp with copic markers.

This turned out to be a 5.5 X 5.5 card - I was kinda using up left over pieces laying on my desk - from the base cardstock to the 2 label dies with DP behind the image.
All for now - need to get some grub on the stove and get ready for work....
Take Care

First Rose

Hallo,
Short little post this evening of my first rose out in my flower beds. I planted 3 rose plants this spring - really didn't expect them to bloom this year but this one has about 4 more buds on him and the other 2 plants also have several buds.
I was really sad to give up my Iris (tried them for 11 years or so and not a whole lotta luck - they wouldn't bloom or would only put out 1 or 2 blooms - too hot down here in Florida I guess).
Looking good for the roses so far though....
All for now
Hope your weekend is going well.

What's Cookin'

Hallo,
Well welcome to friday morning - 'runners take your places'....' bang' ....off and running this am....
I hit a bit of a wall yesterday and came home after work intending to sleep a bit and get up and get errands done - alas no errands, all sleep - slept till 330 and back to bed at 10 pm and slept ALL NIGHT - I guess I must have needed it because I am ready to go this am!!!
My town does an 'Art Walk' on friday evenings down on the strip of little shops on the main drag, and I have decided to set up tonight and give it a try (the best of the craft fairs for me in the fall is scheduled on my weekend to work this year - and I am no longer allowed to take vacation time on my weekends to work sooo......). In addition to gathering to set up at the Art Walk tonight, I need to get groceries and clean house......
These 2 cards today turned out really cute - I thought so anyway - as usual I couldn't chose which backround stamp I wanted to use as 'wallpaper' so I ended up with 2...

The backrounders are both from Cornish Heritage Farms - www.cornishheritagefarms.com
This first one is called 'ornamental borders' and the second one is 'sophisticated swirls'. I embossed them with white embossing powder onto the teal base cardstock.
The bottom portions of the card is a Technique Junkie terchnique called 'faux painted paneling' and is really easy to do. First you cut the white base to size - in this case the width of the card and however high you want. Then cut 1/4 inch strips the same height - and one 1/4 inch strip for the width. The strips are then glued onto the white base at 1/4 inch intervals.
I then used a gray copic marker to edge all the panels to give the impression of a shadow and a bit morre depth....
The main image and phrase are from Gina K designs and I paper pieced the aprons, coloring the rest with copic markers. www.ginakdesigns.com
The 'teal' colored rhinestones were colored to match with a copic marker.

All for now - time to 'shake a leg'
Have a great day!!!

Sweet and Golden

Hallo,
A quick post before I head to bed this am - busy night last night so my bed will feel good this morning - my pooch is trying to convince me to go for a walk so I had better get typing and get my walkin' shoes back on.....
I had dug out my Sweet Pea stamps the other day and did some coloring for a challenge over at Copic Colour Challenges - G00, BG23 and BV02.
I really liked how she turned out. These images are so much fun to color.
Image is from Sweet Pea - www.sweetpeastamps.com - colored with copics.
Copic Colour Challenge site - www.copiccolourchallenge.blogspot.com
Base cardstock and larger Spellbinder cut panel are from Basic Grey, middle layer is a piece of gold vellum embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. Added a few flatbacked pearls for accent.
Ok its off for a walk and then to bed.....for a bit anyhow.....
See ya tomorrow.

Best friend tee's

Hallo,
Quick post for you this am - I was up most of the night and need to get some errands/chores done so I can have crafting time before my pre-nightshift nap.....thats the hard part for me about being back on night shift - my first day off I can't stay up all day (too old I guess) but if I sleep too much then I can't sleep at night and in this case I really didn't try too hard because I have to work tonight (then I have 4 off thankfully). I will eventually find a formula that works - still working out the kinks of being back on night shift....
I made this card a couple weeks ago for a challenge over at Stamp TV - I can't remember which one it was....
The base card has been run through an inked cuttlebug folder. I used the same ink to stamp the Tee's, flowers, label frame and the phrase.
I colored the flowers with prismacolor pencil and colored the edge of the frame too. Added the pearls for a bit of a classic 'shabby chic' accent - What could be more 'shabby chic' than pearls with a t-shirt?

I really liked how this turned out - when I have time I want to do a purple version. I would love to have the t-shirt in purple!!!
All stamps are from Gina K.
All for today - I am off and running!!!!
Take Care

Whimsy Design Team call

Hallo,

I cannot believe that I just discovered this lovely stamp company just today!!! Oh I admit I had seen some of their images on Splitcoast and some blogs, but I had never really 'looked' until today. I found Whimsy through a blogsurfin session that took me 4 or 5 away from where I started so I can't even credit the blog that got me started in Whimsy's direction today.

You NEED to check them out!!!! http://www.whimsystamps.com/

It just so happens that Whimsy is having a Design Team call. Oh what fun that would be - I would love to get my hands on some of their stuff!!!

This is my blog post for their DT application - alas since I don't have any of their stamps - YET - I chose a selection of some of my better recent projects to show them today.

This first is a card showing off my favorite thing to do - COLOR - this one with copic markers.

This second photo is of a plaque that I did using crackle paint as a base, with stamped - and colored - images on top. Again colored with copics.

My third project is a Father's Day card that I made using a technique called 'faux rusty metal' - showcasing another of my favorite things - TECHNIQUES. I love trying new techniques for stamping and backrounds!!! This particular technique is one of my new 'go to' techniques for guy cards, and in this card it fit perfectly. The image is colored again with copics and I 'colored' some 'rust' onto the tackle box and the bucket too.
Well off to write up the second half of my application - wish me luck!!!!
Have a great day!!!
Tera

Sweet red Sweet Pea

Hallo,
I have dinner on the stove so will try to get this up for you all tonight. I sure didn't get as much done today as I had wanted....worked last night and tried to get up early, as I don't work tonight but....it didn't work. When I did manage to drag myself out of bed all I could get motivated for was the craft room.
I had colored this image earlier and just had to put the card together today.
I did this for this weeks color challenge over at Copic Colour Challenge - www.copiccolourchallenge.blogspot.com
The colors were - G00, BG23, BV02.
This card also fit for this weeks Inspiration challenge over at Stamp TV - www.stamptv.ning.com as the inspiration picture had lots of purples, greens and pink....
The image is from Sweet Pea Stamps - www.sweetpeastamps.com

I had a hard time deciding which DP to combine with this image - I wanted something to make the image pop and found this Basic Gray in my stash and loved it!!!!
All for now - gotta finish off dinner....
Take Care

Hiking with Dad

Hallo,
Quick little prepost for you on this monday am - I am working night shift so will probably be home and into bed within minutes of hitting the door :).
I did these 2 cards for a challenge over at Stamp TV a couple weeks ago now.
As usual I couldn't decide which colors to use so had to do 2. One has the green dominate and the other brown.
2 Layers on each card have been cut with Spellbinders dies and ran through an inked cuttlebug folder.
The main panel on each is from Gina K designs and colored with copics. I added rhinestones for accents - green ones were colored with my copics as well, amber/brown ones I already had.
All for today - Hope you week is starting out well!!!!
