Drummer Boy Ornaments

Hallo,
A little quiet time for me this am before I rouse the kiddos to go to church....
I won't get much stamping/blogging time today as I am determined to finish off the sanding today!!! I put in about 5 and 1/2 hours sanding yesterday (and about 4 on friday) - my arms were so sore last night - still a bit of an ache this am but not too bad. I only have about 6 cabinet doors and the bottom cabinets in the house to finish rough sanding and then do some finer sanding but it will still take me most of the day.....
I am hopeing the staining and finishing will only take a couple days......then I have to paint.....
All I can say it #1 This had better be worth it!!!!
#2 This will definatly cure me from thinking of any big decorating projects for awhile.!!!! LOL

Anyway - todays pics are some ornaments that I bought plain at Hobby Lobby. They had a nice matte finish so were easy to stamp on.
I used the 'Drummer boy' set from Flourishes and colored them with my copics. The markers didn't blend as nice and tended to streak just a bit on these ornaments but I still liked the way they turned out!!!
I sealed them with some gold toned modge podge.
I did try coloring one with my prismacolor pencils and it didn't turn out as well and then the modge podge made the colors smear just a bit.
I want to give my twinks a try on these next (Tinkling H2O's). maybe I can get my major decorating project done in time to have some time to stamp next weekend.....
All for today - time to get a moving for me ....

Memory book and keepsake box

Hallo,
Just a quick little post as I need to get back to sanding my kitchen cabinets - been sanding for hours and it hardly seems like I have done anything......
This is the altered cigar box that I finished off yesterday with a memory book, gift card and a packet of onsies to decorate the pages with after photos are added.
The stamps I used are from Gina K and the set is called 'Wee Tee's - so perfect for this sort of box.
I have the girl one in the works and should be able to finish it this evening once it gets too dark to sand outside
and before I have to run get my kiddos from their evening activities - DS had an out of town swim meet today and my DD is going to some meeting after school and then the ROTC folks take $ and directs parking for the football games - so they both will be home late.
Ok, I had better get back at it or I will never get done....

Peace, Love and Joy

Hallo,
Well I should sleep well tonight - the last 2 nights at work have been very busy, didn't sleep well yesterday and today I got up early to have lunch with my good friend Pat!!!
Between my work schedule and the teenagers and Pat's busy schedule we haven't had much time to get together lately so it was great to go to lunch and talk crafts, family work(Pat is an RN too) but mostly crafts :).
Once done with lunch I ran a couple errands and picked up the kiddos after their after school meetings....and then came home and managed to finish a card.
I did this card for this weeks sketch challenge over at Stamp TV - you need to check out Stamp TV - membership is free, lots of free tutorials, an awsome gallery and with the weekly challenges - chances to win free stamp sets from Gina K!!!!
http://www.stamptv.ning.com/
The base layer on this card is red cardstock ran through a texture folder and then highlighted with gold mettalic rub on paste.
The next layer up is 2 ribbons - a wide thin gold one and a green one.
Next up is a patterned paper stamped with a label from the new 'Lovely labels 2' stamp set - first time I stamped it onto this DP the green pattern was to 'busy' so I took another piece of the same DP and sanded it a bit to 'smooth' out some of the pattern and then stamped in distress brick red.
The small label is also from "Lovely Labels 2' - stamped in distress peeled paint (green). The phrase is from 'Holiday Hospitality' stamped in the distress red also.
Finally I added some red and green flat backed pearls and dats it...

Well - I plan to be back tomorrow inbetween sanding I will take breaks at the craft table. Wish me luck as I have never taken on a big refinish project like this before and I only have a week and 1/2 to finish (well - a week and 1/2 off work and I REALLY want to have the cabinets as well as the painting done by then.....like I said, wish me luck!!!)
All for tonight - need to get something rolling for dinner - also need to get up and move before I fall asleep (2 1/2 hours sleep just isn't quite enough but some days so very worth it - and I will sleep through the night instead of waking up at 2 am not able to get back to sleep....)

Lantern Christmas

Hallo,
Well I didn't get everything I wanted to get done, done today but I got some things done that needed to get done so I guess thats ok. I even managed to get a nap - although I feel like I could use more of a nap......ah well...
I did this card for a challenge over at 'In a Sweet Pea Dream' the new Sweet Pea Stamps challenge blog. The challenge was for Christmas. You can check it out here - www.inasweetpeadreamchallengeblog.blogspot.com

I colored this 'Sweet Pea ' image with copics and a bit of spica glitter pen and layered her to some sweet Christmas paper I just got the other day.
I cut her and the layer underneath with one of my newer Spellbinder labels and edged all the panels with gold mettalic pen.
the gold corners and flowers are stickers and then I added some red flat-backed pearls also.
All for today - have to work tonight and tomorrow night (will pre-post for tomorrow).

Teapot gift box

Hallo,
Back with some stamping stuff today. I did another altered cigar box with a tea theme - this time the stamp set is from Papertrey Ink.
I used all the same papers and ink so the only thing different is the stamps.
I love this tea set (I love all 4 of the various tea sets I have)
This tea set from PTI is great for paper piecing and I love the little add ons - honey stick, tea leaves holder ect...
I made up a gift pack of tea bags for the inside - out of one of the plastic boxes that PTI stamps come in BTW as they are awsome for this kind of thing!!! And I also made up 4 invitations to go with the set.
I put this gift up on my Etsy shop as its been a little neglected lately!!!

All for tonight - my patio and a good book seems to be calling my name this evening :)

Zombies and other insanity

Hallo,
Just a few zombie photos to start with - last year in downtown FWB they started what they called 'Zombie Walk' the weekend before Halloween - so we went to see some zombies tonight....
The have hundreds of people dressed up as zombies, have trick or treating for the kids at the shops, a booth set up to help people 'become' zombies, 'brain' eating contests, 'rescue the civilian' contest and then the topper is a big street dance to the tune of Micheal Jackson's 'Thriller'
We didn't stay for the Thriller dance but we sat on the patio of our fav downtown pub and watched zombies go by....
The third photo is a group of 'zombie fighters' .....
Now the last bunch of pics are kinda scary too but probably only to me.... I have wanted to redo my kitchen cabinets for a loooong time and I have finally took the plunge. Tom is out of town next weekend and I took about a week and 1/2 off.....
I work monday and tuesday so come wednesday I will get the hardware and the doors off and start sanding......I plan on staining them so sand, stain, varnish - and then while everything is tore up I plan to paint also (kitchen, adjacent hallway, small laundry room and small bathroom...)
I only hope that a week and 1/2 is enough.....

The first 2 shots are the before pics - gray stained cabinets with grape clusters stamped with acrylic paint on them and the beautiful yellow paint (which I have seriously outgrown...).
Next is with the cabinets down and then the pile of cabinets in the garage....
Wish me luck!!!
Take Care - Have a great weekend!!!

Tea for Two

Hallo,
A good stamping day for me :) !!!!
I did a couple cigar boxes with a 'Tea' theme - still have to finish the second one.
This first picture just shows the cigar box and the 3 DP's I decided to use - had to run it by one of my 'Junior production supervisors' aka Smitty. Fancy - my Senior Production Supervisor was 'in a meeting' (taking a nap :)
Once I had product approval I got both boxes covered and then started the decorating.
This box I used all Gina K stamps from the last release - Tea Time and Lovely Labels 2.
Inside the decorated cigar box is a clear plastic box with an assortment of teas and some candy - which I also decorated - and 4 note card invitations that say 'Let's make a tea time" with envelopes.

I hope to finish off the second box tomorrow.....

Raspberry tea

Hallo,
Just a quick little psot for you tonight - I was a mad cleaning woman this morning and then ran errands, and more errands.....tired now....
I did this card last week for a challenge over at Stamp TV. I stamped the ice tea set and shelf over a background technique from Technique Junkies called glimmer lace and colored them with copics.

Green Doves

Hallo,
One more card with the doves from Flourishes that I did the other day. The background was done with a texture folder on white paper which I sprayed with gold memory mist.
I stamped the small doves inside another of the labels stamps from Gina K's new 'Lovely labels 2 ' set with a pine green ink.
I found a matchy matchy pine green flat backed pearls (a shade or 2 darker) that I added to the frame and a couple on the bakground. Both panels are edged with gold mettalic pen.

I didn't get to the craft room today - whatever had me feeling crappy yesterday wasn't done with me - nothing major just major tired....slept this am till almost 2 (which means I probably will be blog surfin' at 2 am tonight...:) Ran a few errands with the kiddos and siitin on da couch for a bit with the computer (maybe I will hit the craft room at 2 am if I can't sleep)
I am planning some serious craft room time tomorrow (after an am walk/excersise and a bit of housework) - I have several project that I have been itching to do....
All for tonight - Take Care

Pink Doves

Hallo,
Well.....I am showing you a couple cards I made the other day....I didn't go into work last night due to major tummy distress and lack of sleep caused by my tummy but all is well. Feeling much better today - a bit drained....got a nap this afternoon and am headed into work shortly.
I used my doves from Flourishes again .
The first card uses the big doves and a cuttlebug folder for a very quick and simple card. The ink color is SU's purely pomegrante.
For the second card, I used the smaller doves inside the label die from Gina K's Lovely Labels set - both stamped with the purely pomegrante ink. The back panel is a CB texture folder that I sprayed with iridescent gold glimmer mist. Both panels are edged with a gold mettalic pen. I also added a coiple flat-backed pearls to the second card.
All for tonight - after working tonight I have 5 days off!!!! - Happy Dance!!!!
