CSS Animal theme hop

Hallo,

Well talk about getting finished in the nick of time.....I have been working on this project all week, or trying to....for tonight's Gina K CSS blog hop. I finally managed to finish and get pics just as light was begining to go.....about 5:45 pm..... For tonight's theme we were to use one of Gina's animal sets.
To start at the begining of the hop start here - www.stamptv.ning.com
Remember to leave lots of comments along the way because Gina is once again giving away a FREE stamp set to one lucky commenter!!!!
If you are following the hop you have come to me from the very talented

Sue - www.suessentiments.com/wordpress/?p=5195
I had this project in mind when I bought this adorable set - 'Dino-mite'
This is a 'party in a box' - the box is an altered cigar box with a Dino theme and inside are party invitations, thank-you notes, and place cards for the guests. I also made up a Birthday card to match.
Coloring is done with prismacolor pencils and copics, and a bit of spica glitter pens on the party hat.
The inside of the box is lined with brown felt and can be used to 'wrap' the birthday gift and later for the Birthday Child's' treasures (not only boys like Dinosaurs you know :)

Just for fun I also used this weeks sketch from Stamp TV for both the box and the Birthday card :)
All for tonight...got extra teens in the house tonight and lasagna in the oven.....

A yard work kinda day....

Hallo,
After sleeping a good chunk of the day after working night shift friday, no yard work got done on saturday, Sunday (yesterday) I was feeling lazy and just played a bit in the craft room - after lunch and a short trip to A.C.Moore (found out that they had the new Vagabond - die cut machine on sale for 40% off - it soooo came home with me :)!!!! Saved about 100$$$ WHooo hoo.....
So today was a day for some yard work - its almost 75 degrees out and sunny....
I did the front flower beds a couple weeks ago and today I cleaned off my patio - which had become a clutter zone for the winter (usually I use it as much in the winter as summer but this winter was a cold one for us...)
So I took out all the chairs and DH took down and hauled out the old fuseball table we never used anymore and I swept and cleaned and put everything back - got my orchids back on the porch (they have been inside most of the winter due to the cold).
Then we went for lunch as both DHand kids were off today - I work tonight (headed for a nap shortly...).
So after lunch I finished off watering the orchids and took some pics around the yard - still alot of work to do in the yard but here are a few pics of the good spots :).
First is my patio and my favorite 'sit with a good book and a cup of tea' spot....
Next is my 2 camelia bushes out front that have started to bloom in the last couple days....
And then my maple tree that is budding out and lastly a hanging plant for my front window that DH got for me today when he made a Lowe's run....
Due to the cold this winter I have alot of spots to fill in in pots and flowers beds - but I have at least a few more days of yard work cleaning out the old stuff before I can start replanting....
Hopefully the weather is nice towards the end of the week - I work the tonight and tuesday night.....
All for today - it is nap time for me - sweet - lucky me all the windows and doors are open with a light breeze ahhhhhh.....

Vintage sketch

Hallo,
Friday is here but I have to work tonight so not home free yet (have the rest of the weekend off....)
Again wonderful weather - got a bit more done than yesterday....got groceries and did laundry, but alas still no house work done.....Still have a pretty good head cold hanging on.....
These 4 cards are a result of a sketch challenge and indicision on my part of which papers to use in which combination....as often happens with me....so as usual when I can't decide I did several.
All the stamps arer from Gina K. and all the paper comes from 1 paper pack....I used mettalic pen to outline the labels stamps after cutting them out with the coordinating Spellbinders dies - 2 with gold and 2 with copper....

All for today folks - going to try and get a nap before getting ready for work.....

Rejoice

Hallo,
I am back to Christmas cards again :) ....
I did this card for 2 challenges - first is the Christmas card challenge over at the Flourishes forum at SCS. This months challenge is for pink, red and white.
I went a bit vintage on this one using tattered rose distress ink on the main image which is embossed with white onto white paper and then sponged with the ink.
I found some old ribbon in a shade darker pink and some pink pearls, and then layered it all with 3 different vintage-ish DP's to also fit this weeks FTTC105 challenge over at the Flourishes blog - www.flourishes.org/blog

All for today - trying to get a few chores done and a nap in before heading to work tonight.

Gray Moon

Hallo,
Welcome to another Monday. I worked last night and am fixin' to get me a nap.....(southern for I am headed off to bed for a nap here in a minute :).
Thought I would get todays post up and running first as the DH, kids and I are going to Pensacola tonight to see 'Kid Rock' in concert.....I am not so much into it but it will be fun for the DH and kiddos.....
When I first did this wonderful image from Sweet Pea, I really didnot like how I did the backround....so I sat it on my desk and looked at it for a few days, then I came across my newest issue of Technique Junkie Newsletter and reread the 'neutral shadows' technique and aahh ha....
I cut out my little mermaid and then stamped her again onto white cardstock and embossed with white powder - then I shadowed the image with gray ink and colored the hearts red, and layered my colored and cut out mermaid on top....
For the background I stamped the flourish (from Stampin' Up ) onto red patterned paper and also did some shadowing with gray ink.
I edged both panels with silver metallic pen and added a silvery gray ribbon and some darker gray pearls too.
I am entering her in this weeks challenge over at 'In A Sweet Pea Dream' - the challenge being anything Sweet Pea.....
Check out all the fabulous Sweet Pea inspiration here - www.inasweetpeadreamchallengeblog.blogspot.com
I had to chuckle - had a flash back to a movie I watched yesterday - Does anyone remember the movie 'St. Elmo's Fire'? I watched it yesterday and the word 'fabulous' was used many times.....
Ohh KAy - time to sleep..... :)

Family Post - Paula, ROTC, Mardi Gra parade....

Hallo,
Just a quick family post for Sunday....
DD carried flags with ROTC yesterday for the local Mardi Gra parade so I went and got some photos (the last parade she was in was at night and I had to work...).
DH was home on standby for pick up of DS who was helping out at the middle school swim meet today (he volunteers with the MS swim team and helps coach).
I came to the parade armed with long sleeved shirt under my wool sweater because it was 27 degrees this am and a bit windy....I soon shed the sweater as the wind died and it warmed up very nicely to about 50 degrees.....great day for beads and moon pies....and photos of my girl :)....
All for today

CSS Inspiration blog Hop

Hallo,

Welcome to the Gina K CSS Alumni blog hop. Our inspiration for this round was this first photo.

If you are following the hop then you came to me from Sue's wonderful blog - www.suessentiments.com/wordpress?p=5177

I admit to being truely challenged with this one (and by my big ol lead balloon head and yukky stuffy/runny nose.....bleh).

I love the wall mirror and it reminded me of winter trees/twigs so here is what I came up with....

This first card uses stamps from 'Mugs and Kisses' and 'Tree silouettes'.

I stamped and embossed the trees with white powder onto white cardstock and then sponged some light gray ink around them.

The mug I stamped onto red DP and then stamped and embossed the trees with black, cut it out and layered it on top.

With this second card I was thinking of a bigger wall decor item so instead of a twig-like mirror, I did the trees....

The couch was paper pieced from the same red DP as the mug and the dressor, lamp and books were all stamped and embossed. The trees were embossed this time with copper embossing powder and again sponged with gray ink....
I am once again the end of our blog hop but if you have jumped into the middle you may want to start at the very begining of our hop here - http://www.stamptv.ning.com/forum/topics/center-stage-alumni-blog-hop-130

I am sure there is a ton of Awsomeness to be found!!!!
All for today
Have a great weekend!!!

Sweet Pea sketch

Hallo,
Another Sweet Pea card for you today - I had yet to color any of my Sweet Peas with dark skin tones so this is my first attempt with that.
I used prismacolor and lyra pencils.
I used 2 different Spellbinders dies for the main image and edged the one with gold mettalic pen - also edged the bottom panels with the gold mettalic pen also.
I am entering her in 2 different challenges - the first one being the new challenge over at 'Sweet Pea Stampers' which is a sketch this week.
See more takes on this great sketch here - http://www.sweetpeastampschallenge.blogspot.com/
The second one is for the 'anything' challenge over at 'In A Sweet Pea Dream' blog - see more here - http://www.inasweetpeadreamchallengeblog.blogspot.com/
All for today - I need to get a second post ready to go for later this evening (10 pm - so come on back tonight or tomorrow for a great blog hop....)

Sweet Pea Stampers DT call

Hallo,

As you can tell by the tittle this post is my entry for the Design Team call over at Sweet Pea Stampers - a challenge blog for Sweet Pea Stamps.

I would LOVE to be a part of this Team because I LOVE Sweet Pea stamps, love to color and love a good challenge!!!

Sweet Pea stamps offer sooooo many fairies and mermaids, dragons and just all around cuteness that my collection has grown in leaps and bounds!!!

If you are interested in the DT call check it out here - http://www.sweetpeastampschallenge.blogspot.com/

We were sposed to show 'at least' 2 samples of our best work - good thing for me it wasn't 'only' 2 because I just couldnot decide - each card I do becomes my favorite and each new stamp I get is my new favorite ....
As I said I love to color - my 2 favorite things to color with are pencils (prismacolor, koh-i-noor, lyra) and copics - but also love to watercolor and occasionally chalk too....
Well this is all for me today - I have given myself till my son gets home from school to play and then I need to get some house work done....(yuk :)
So back to my pencils, paper and markers - back to my little paper paradise.....

Simple valentines

Hallo,
It's wednesday and the first of 4 days off work - yippee!!!
Not sure how much I will manage to get done today so will post this for you before I get a bit of sleep - then if I can get up early(ya uh hu - we'll see...)
I will need to do some house cleaning and an errand or 2 before I can stamp....
Very little stamping on these quick little Valentines cards....
This first one has a bit of stamping on the inside that says 'Happy Valentines Day' and the next 2 have the same phrase on the outside.
The hearts are cut and embossed with the Spellbinders hearts set.
The biggest red heart is regular red cardstock with a white craft ink pad swiped over the embossing to highlight it. The 2 smaller hearts are cut from 'Coredinations' paper and then I sanded the embossing to show the core color underneath.
I added some flat-backed pearls for accent and that was about it....

All for today - off to sleep for a bit....

Tera
p.s. the stamp is a very old one from 1989 from Stampendous I believe.....

Naptime

Hallo,
Welcome to tuesday morning - the last 2 nights at work have been busy so I am headed for bed shortly, 1 more night to go!!
I did this card for this weeks sketch challenge over at My Favorite Things - see their forum over at SCS for more info.
I just got this stamp from MFT a couple days ago - isn't she sweet? I paper pieced her pj's and added some shading with a copic marker, the rest of her is colored with copics also - I tried to make the blanket plaid to match the ribbon.
All for this morning - its now 'naptime' for me :). Hopeing to get some stamping done tomorrow but will also need to do some house cleaning so will have to see how the day rolls (and how early I can make myself crawl out of bed :)
