Easter Lily

Hallo,
Well another hole in my blog for yesterday but looks like there might be a few more in the weeks to come - I just have gotten a bit behind here at home, the next 2 weeks are softball tournament, and I have decided to dive into my craft room and see if I can get things decluttered a bit ( I bought some big plastic see-through bins today with that in mind) and I am determined to excersis more - so between all that I may not get here as often as I would like, but rest assured it will be as often as I can :).
Todays card was done for the current challenge over at Flourishes which is for 'Easter" I used an out-of-the-box technique (from Technique Junkies) for the flower on the top left. The bottom right flower was stamped, partially colored and then I layered another fully colored flower over the top as I did with the purple on too.
The top layer was cut with a Spellbinders die. The second layer is a really pretty purple embossed with a texture folder. I edged the base layer of white cardstock with the same ink as I used for the phrase. The flowers were colored with copics.
Check out the challenge here - www.flourishes.org/blog/
All for today - gotta get a couple chores done and a nap before work tonight.....tomorrow is a softball game so will try to get up early to go watch my DD play before work....
Have a great week everyone!!!

Tailormade

Hallo,
Well its another beautiful day in NW Florida - too bad I needed to sleep half of it away....but after my little chat with you today I am off to run some errands and then hopefully a walk before it gets dark.
I started this card yesterday and am finishing just in time for the Timeless Tuesday challenge over at Flourishes - www.flourishes.org/blog/
The challenge this time was a a sketch from the very talented Silke. I followed the sketch pretty close - except I added the little tag (can you see why - I goofed on the phrase so I stamped it again and cut it out as a tag and layered it over the top :). I wish I would have had cardstock to match for the base layer - course now that I am typeing and its too late to retake pics in time for the challenge I can see that all I needed to do was edge the base cardstock with the same copic I used to color the ribbon and string (both of which were white.....) DUH - wish I would have thought of that 15 minutes ago.....
Anyway the images were stamped and colored with copics onto cryogen white and then stamped again on the dress pattern DP, I fussy cut them out and layered them over the top.
I added some pearl drops with a viva decor pen to the necklaces, the shoes and some corners.
Alright - time to get this linked and get my errands done - the DH and I are looking at getting a new mattress so thats my first errand - Does anyone have one of those tempurpedic matresses? If so do you like it? Going to look at one of those....

Spring Nest

Hallo,
Have you ever felt like you had to drag yourself around by the scruff of the neck to just keep moving....I have been like that all week long for no apparent reason.....and I have holes in my blog for the first time in a loonng time :( pout.
I worked mon/tuesday nights and then only got about 2 hours sleep wednesday am because I wanted to go to lunch with a friend and then had erands to do....didn't get much of anything done on thursday or friday before work either.
Slept all day yesterday and slept good too - then got put on call for work so I figured I would be up half the night but nooo, I went back to bed at 11 when DH did and slept ALL night - I guess I needed to catch up or something.
Well the weather has been so awesome here in NW Florida - warm with a bit of a cool breaze and sunny, even the humidity has been low since the thunderstorms of friday moved out!!!
I colored this image last night and then finished it up this am after a walk and breakfast. I would love to go back to the craft room but then again with the weather so nice it would be great to sit on my porch with a good book too!!!...maybe a bit of each :)
I did this card for the current challenge over at the Outlines blog - www.outlineswithkathy.blogspot.com - the challenge is for spring . I colored the image with prismacolor pencils - I did trim it down a bit to fit on this 5x5 card. Added some prima flowers and gold centers with a viva decor pen.
By the way if you like Outlines stamps you need to go shop now - I got their latest newsletter and they are closing up shop, so get them while you can. I bought my first Outlines stamp over 15 years ago so I am sad to see them go!!!! I have really enjoyed playing with their challenges lately too!!! Ahh well I guess all good things must end......
All for today - my porch is calling and then maybe some more craft room time - Have a great week!!!

Spring Quilt

Hallo,
Just a quick post as I try to get a nap before work tonight....kids are off for spring break and at the beach today :)
The weather is perfect for the beach this week - feels almost like summer.
A spring card for you today for the current challenge over at the Impression Obsession blog - www.mitrafriant.typepad.com
I used 2 stamps from IO - Quilt J1081 and Pretty Peony F8739 and colored them with prismacolor pencils.
I grew up on the farm and Mom always had (still does - even more than when I was growing up) peonys growing along side the out buildings (out buildings = farm talk for all the sheds/barns/chicken coops/whatever out in the yard from the house :). Most of the peonys Mom had/has are pink - many differnt shades of pink and I always loved them - the only ones I liked better were lilacs (and neither will grow here in Florida - pout...)
I took the main colors of blue, yellow and green from the last Gina K CSS blog hop (last friday) - I just wanted to use them again cause I liked how the colors looked together - and then I added the nice little pop of pink to the mix :).
All for today - Take Care

Antique Lace

Hallo,
Well no yard work for me this am - just didn't feel like it, but I am sitting on my patio with my laptop and my kindle and a glass of tea :) Aahhhh - lovin the spring weather!!!
The current FTTC challenge over at Flourishes is for 'scallops and lace'
and I had this stamp set from Flourishes on my desk for awhile now - I may have to put it up and get out another - this I think makes 4 or 5 projects with this set in the last 2 weeks....
I colored the main image with copics and kept a neutral (ish) color tone . I stamped the background with the single zinnia from that set and the phrase is stamped over the top. Added some lace (from the Flourishes shop :) and some accents ion the corners with viva decor pens .
Check out the challenge here - www.flourishes.org/blog/
Have a great day!!!

Happy Eggs

Hallo,
What a beautiul day we had here in NW Florida - warm and sunny!!! I did several hours of yard work this am - planted some plants and raked some leaves (we have oak trees here in the south that shed their leaves a bit in the fall but even more so in the spring).
I would so much rather do yard work than house work on a day like today - course come summer here in Fl. then not so much (not at all in reality - too HOT)
Well todays project is for the current challenge over at the Outlines blog for 'Easter'. I have had these in the works for several fays but just managed to finally finish them today. I found the eggs at A.C. Moore already colored and with the white stem/hanger on them. I added stamps from Outlines - flowers that I stamped onto patterned paper, embossed and cut out. I added some accents with viva decor pens too.

GinaK CSS color challenge

Hallo,
Welcome to another Gian K CSS Alumni blog hop!!! This time we are doing a color challenge.
If you are folowing along the hop then you came to me from Sharri's blog - www.istamp4u.blogspot.com/2012/03/gina-k-designs-css-alumni-hop.html
I am sure Sharri had something awesome for you!!!
If you want to start at the begining of the hop go here - www.stamptv.ning.com.
And remember to leave comments along the hop because we will draw for a large grab bag of Gina K stamps on tuesday am (3-20) from amoung our commenters :)
My card today is a little bright :) - It was a bright and sunny and WARM day here in NW Florida and spring break is in full swing (lots of pale northerners on the beach these days :).
I used the sentiments to create the background and then layered the surfboards on top. I added some blue dots with a Tulip fabric paint pen for a bit of accent and thats all.
My friend and Chief Enabler - Pat - and I went over to Fairhope Alabama today for their big Arts and Crafts fair - we go every year, wander around, gather ideas, sometimes buy a couple things, eat lunch and head home - this year we got done wandering early enough that we made a quick stop at both Hob Lob and Mike's that is near there before heading home. I bought some really cool glasses that I will try to get a picture of tomorrow and a hat at the craft fair and a couple odds and ends at HobLob/Mike's that were on sale. We had a great day - beautiful and sunny and almost too warm (almost).
My kiddos went to the beach this afternoon as this was their first day of spring break and probably won't be home till late evening as they are going to a movie or bowling after the beach....DH has plans for the evening so I headed for the craft room when I came home today :) Happy Me :) I was feeling a bit craft room deprived this week (ahh well wouldn't want like to get boreing would we !! :)
All for tonight - Have a great weekend!!!

Zinnia tin

Hallo,
Well today was the first real stamping time I have had all week and I managed to finished off 3 challenges for Flourishes. I had actually started this project for last weeks FTTC challenge and due to events over the weekend I just managed to finish it off today.
My project fits perfectly for todays lunchtime challenge of back and front - to use stamp from the stamp set in the background as well as the main image. Check out the challenge here - www.flourishes.org/blog/
This is and old tin hanging and it had a picture in the center that was faded and blah ( I really do need to get better about taking 'before ' pictures)
For the background I used stamps from the Flourishes Zinnias set and a technique from Technique Junkies called 'faux designer paper'
I then colored the main zinnia image twice and the stemmed zinnias in a mug from the Mix and Mugs set twice - both with copics and cut them out. I added the phrase on vellum and some bead flourishes in the opposite corners.
I really like how it turned out except that maybe the scale is a bit too small for the space....I like it anyhow.
All for today - need to try to call my Mom again tonight.
I got news tonight that her sister in Idaho is in the hospital and very sick so thats upsetting, even more so for my Mom because she cant travel right now to go out to be with her.... Send some prayers if you could for my Mom and her sister tonight!!!
Well got a bit more to do tonight so had better get to it....

P.S. This picture will be up on my Etsy shop tonight....

Well first I have good news - my Mom was able to come home from the hospital today!!!! She is feeling better and so very glad to be home. I bet her Doctors are glad she is home too so I will quit bugging them :) Us medical types must be a challenge to docs sometimes....I believe I wasn't too bad - thats my story and I am sticking to it :).
Ok todays challenge from Flourishes is to make something 'round' I pulled out the Mix and Mugs set and my Spellbinders gears to make a Dad type card.
The main image is colored with copics.

Flourishes Pinter-inspiration

Hallo,
It has been a long week but I hope its getting better!!! I am back posting - nothing like doing 4 challenges in just one day - aahhh happy sigh....
This card was done for the first release week challenge over at Flourishes - I finished it a little late in the day so the light wasn't so good - but the camera flash brought out the sparkle of the cryogen white paper!!
I used the Zinnias set again as its been on my desk and I do so love coloring the zinnias.
The main image was colored with copics and cut out with a Spellbinders die.
The background was a piece teal DP stamped with the small flower from that set in purple. I added some gold corners and some teal flat-backed pearls.
Check out the challenges here - www.flourishes.org/blog/

In this first picture - girls are my sweet Paula(left) and Ashly and the back row left to right is my handsome Jack, Alex, Eathon and Jon.
The first 3 pics are the few semi serious ones I got and the rest are the fun ones.
They are a great group of youngins!!!!
All for now - gotta get myself ready and moving on to work tonight!!!
