Puppy Love

 Hallo,
Well finally got to bring this little sweetheart home today from the shelter - she is pretty mellow for a puppy and seems very smart. She would love nothing better than for the kitties to play with her - old meow put her in her place right off the bat with a 'leave me alone till I get to know you better' and the 2 youngins' are still in hiding even though they are double her weight....
She is just a little sweetie and has definatly brought out the 'puppy' in my 16 year old son :).
And knowing my DD - missy puppy will be sleeping in her bed the minute she winmpers by herself tonight :)
I taught  a class at work this am and picked miss Kyna (key-na) up on my way home. Once the kids got home from school I did manage to get a bit of a nap - so now its off to work tonight.

Wildflowers

  Hallo,
Well I was hoping to have our new puppy home by today but thanks to Issac the shelter is behind schedule and they wont let us bring her home until she gets spayed, so I guess it will be tomorrow or friday.....I teach part of the day tomorrow (hopefully done by 2 pm ) and then I work tomorrow night....but then am off the weekend which will be nice!!!
I did this card for the current challenge over at Flourihes for their Tuesday challenge - this week the challenge is to use blue and purple. Well now since purple is my favorite color that made this one easy - along with some new stamps from Flourishes :)
I stamped the images onto light cream cardstock and colored with copics - and then used and out-of-the-box technique and Spellbinders dies to cut them out. I was into the simple look today - tried hard to add more sctuff to this card - ribbon, extra layers, flowers but nothing seem to look as good just as it is.....

Worldly Friendship

Hallo,
Just a quick note this evening - well Issac has not bothered us hardly at all today - kids are off school, the DH is off work, I was already scheduled off so we just mostly layed around the house today as everything around town is closed down.
The shelter is closed today too so we wont be bringing our new puppy home today, which would have been fun, but I guess maybe tomorrow or later in the week.....
I mostly spent the day reading and in the craft room, the kids putzing around in their rooms - believe it or not doing a bit of cleaning (aka puppy proofing :) and DS playing some video games. DH puttered around and even went out to the beach for a bit to see what the waves were like - I was curled up on the couch with a cat and a book and pretty content so I didn't go with him :)
I did this card up a week or 2 ago and just haven't gotten around to showing you yet - I colored the backgrpound stamp (from Flourishes)with prismacolor pencils on tan paper. The compass I stamped onto white paper and colored with copics so it would stand out a bit - fussy cut it and layered it on top.
I embossed the phrase (also Flourishes) on top with black embossing powder.
Well all for today - looks like we may have a couple rain bands from Issac coming our way in the next couple hours....I love a good thunderstorm and am glad Issac is far enough west to not be a worry!!! I hope he doesn't pound those poor folks in New Orleans too bad!!!

Butterflys

 Hallo,
Well I got up early today to finish off a few cards before our new puppy is due to come home (figured I might be otherwise occupied for the rest of the evening :). I really hadn't planned on a new dog so soon after losing my sweet ol aussie but this litter at the shelter is an aussie mix and puppies go really fast - mater of fact we went to see them one day and the next all but 1 was adopted.
And it looks like we will be indoors for a couple days here due to Issac - looks like he isn't going to visit directly but we will have some pretty good wind, rain and thunderboomers even so, because  - 1 we will be on the east side of the storm and 2 - he is a big storm size wise, even if hes not likely to get beyond a Cat 1.
Well - todays card is getting in just under the wire for this weeks Tuesday challenge over at Flourishes which is for butterflys. Check out the challenge here - www.flourishes.org/blog/
All images are from Flourishes and colored with copics.
All for now - going to try to get a couple more things done yet today :)

Thanks

 Hallo,
Just a quick post this afternoon as I get ready to head off to work.
I made this card to send to my Vet and his assistant. They were so sweet last week when I had to bring them my sweet old aussie for the last time. My old pooch was constantly hurting and it got to the point where the pain pills were not helping even a little bit anymore.
This is a digital image from Mo's Digital Pencil and colored with colored pencils - I colored the pooch to match my sweet ol boy, even if the breed doesn't match :) I even colored the collar purple like my old boys....
It just so happens that the challenge over at Mo's blog this week is for distressing - I did a bit of distressing along the edges of the main image!!!

Pirate Halloween

 Hallo,
Well a few hours of cool weather this am  made for a productive morning of yard work and my yard is looking alot bettter (still some to do but closer).
So this afternoon I spent a few hours in the craft room and finally got around to finishing off this card for the current challenge over at  One Sweet Challenge. The challenge this month is to use primary colors - yellow, red and blue.
This lovely pirate girl is of course from Sweet Pea Stamps and I colored her with copics. I gave her a bit more of a tan than I usually do but made her a blond for the yellow and red for the 'dew rag' (biker term :) and colored her in shades of blue.
With the skulls in the background and on her tattoo - I added a skull charm to go with and backed her with halloween style DP. This will probably be my Halloween card for my DH. He loves hot pirate chics :) (I am still working on that look BTW - LOL)
Check out the challenge at One Sweet Challenge - www.onesweetchallenge.blogspot.com
All for me today - am on call for work tonight which is nice :) - I am going to cuddle in on the couch with my old meow and do some reading :)
   Have a great weekend!!!

GinaK CSS Aug. blog hop

Hallo,
It's time for another  Gina K CSS Alumni blog hop!!! This time we are using the inspiration photo for inspiration.
I am the end of the hop this time - if you are following the hop then you came to me from the very talented Miesje - www.miesdf.blogspot.com/2012/08/css-inspiration-blog-hop-8242012.html
If you want to start at the begining go here - www.stamptv.ning.com
As you follow along the hop be sure to leave sweet comments along the way because on Tuesday 8/28 we will be drawing from all the comments for a huge grab bag of  Gina K stamps for one lucky winner/commenter :)
For my card I used all Gina K stamps colored with copics. The dorrway is from 'The Journey' and the pumpkins from 'Fanciful Fall'
I used a Spellbinders frame to frame the doorway and then accented the frame with bronze viva decor pen. And then I used a kraft cardbase edged with walnut stain ink.
All for tonight - I hope you have a great weekend!!!

Sweet

Hallo,
A quick card this am then off to bed for a nap - I don't work tonight but will get up early to run some errands...
This is my last entry for the Birthday challenges over on the Flourishes blog - www.flourishes.org/blog/
You have until next week to enter for a great gift package.
I did this card for the 'Something Sweet' challenge and this set was a perfect match for the challenge.
I stamped the watermelon, fork and phrase on white cardstock and the pieces on another piece of cardstock and colored them with copics. I cut the main piece out with a Spellbinders die and fussy cut the pieces to layer over the main piece.
I used a cute red and green checked ribbon to thread through the lattice of the die cut and tied it in a bow. Layered that to a dark red polka dotted piece of DP and then to a base of kraft cardstock.
All right - time to try to sleep, one of my tasks for today is to gather all of my sweet ol dogs stuff together and clean the porch a bit which will be tough. I had just bought a fresh bag of dog food and treats for my old boy.....I have a coworker with a couple dogs that I will pass those onto - not like my ol boy  was sick, he just had some bad spine problems and arthritus that we couldn't keep him comfortable anymore......wish me luck.....
Guess that means I have to clean my patio window too - it made me sad to see all the nose prints this morning as I look toward the patio.....

Yellow peony

Hallo,
Well its looking like another rainy day here in NW Florida - makes good sleeping :) but before I head for bed this am I will show you a card for the current challenge over at the Impression Obsession blog.
The challenge this time is a color challenge for yellow and gray and you can check it out here - www.mitrafriant.typepad.com
I used 2 stamps from IO -CCo77 - cover-a-card ornate floral and F8739 pretty peony.
I stamped the ornate floral onto the gray base cardstock with gray ink and again onto white cardstock with gray ink. I used the white with gray and cut it out using a Spellbinders die and distressed the edges and inked them with the gray - I inked the edges of the base cardstock with gray ink too.
I stamped the pretty peony on to white cardstock  twice and colored them both with copics. I used one peony as a base and cut the petals of the second one apart to layer on top of the first one with foam tape.
I used a rub-on for the phrase and some gray pearl accents with a tulip fabric pen. I accented 2 corners with silver corner stickers and added a very old piece of 70' yellow and orange lace ( I got a roll of this lace about 5 years ago at a garage sale and am slowly using it up :)
All for today - time to sleep....my house feels very empty today - the kids are back in school and my old pooch is not around to putter around the house trying to get under the baby gate to get to the cats food ....

Goodbye Old Friend

 Hallo,
Sad afternoon for the family today as we had to let one of our critter family members go to doggy heavon today.
Pain pills and steroids weren't helping my sweet ol pooch anymore and he was constantly hurting, and in the last few weeks I think he was  completely blind or close to it.
Many tears were shed but he was so peaceful once he got the initial pain medicine that I knew it was the right thing.
Funny thing about critters - the vets office dog who we hardly see, because she is sposed to stay in the back room - came out as my DH and I were leaving and she looked up at me with her big greyhound eyes and then pushes her nose under my hand to be petted - which is unusual for her as she is usually rather shy. Funny how critters know - even my old meow was close by my side all day long at home today which she doesnt usually do.
I sure hope old meow gives me a couple months before she decides its her time - she is 21 years old and very frail so I know its coming but I hope she waits awhile yet!!!
Alrighty I guess I better get myself together and get ready for work tonight - its going to be a long one....

Banners

Hallo,
A quick card for you this am - another card for the Birthday challenges over at Flourishes. This challenge was to use  a 'banner' I don't have much for pennants or banners but I did have one ....all stamps are from Flourishes - colored with copics.
Check out the challenges here - www.flourishes.org/blog/ and you could win a lovely goodie bag and you still have almost 2 weeks to get in on the fun!!!!
Well I am going to get a post done quick this am as it is likely to be a long day.....I have to get my poor old Husker dog to the vet today. The poor dog has been hurting more and more over the last month and I have increased the pain medicines over the last week and its just not helping him. I am hoping my vet has some tricks up his sleeve but have a feeling it might be time to say good-bye to my old friend. He is 15 years old and for an Aussie that's a ripe old age. It will be hard but its already hard watching this very sweet and formally very active dog just lay there and not even want to move (except for food - he has always been a very big piggy for anything resembling food, to the point where I had to watch the street carefully when we went for walks so he didn't grab all kinds of gross stuff and chomp it down).
All for now - have to work tonight and want to get some cleaning done too so I will see where this day takes me.....

Flourishes Birthday colors

 Hallo,
Well the rain broke long enough this am for me to get in some pool time :) - the water was a bit cool with all the rain we have had lately but since I was doing my water aerobics it was good motivation to keep moving :)
After lunch I headed for the craft room and finished up on some challenges. I colored several images up while whatching a movie with my DH and DS last night so today was for putting them together :).
This card is for one of  the Flourishes Birthday challenge - the color challenge. Check out the challenges here - www.flourishes.org/blog/
The main image is of course from Flourishes  - zinnias - and colored with copics. I cut the main image and the next layer with a Spellbinders die and found some pretty ribbon with colors to match.
This turned out to be a very springy card !!!
I hope your weekend was great !!!

Nebraska fun!!! - Lotsa pics!!!

 Hallo,
I am finally done editing and sorting through a bunch of the pics I took at home in Nebraska last week....and believe me this is just a few ( I got myself a new zoom lens and was playing...)
The first couple pics were taken south of West Point - we were about 10/15 minutes behind a tornado warning but the clouds sure looked like they were trying to pull some funky stuff :) My DD and I went to West Point with my Mom and helped her set up her booth at the county fair. And the great sunset cloud pics were later that evening near Linwood where we went for super - big, thick, juicey, yummy steaks!!!!
The next group of pics were from my morning walks down our road and in the yard at my Mom and Step-Dad's place.
And the last were taken up at the ounty fair as a friend of mine and I stopped to watch part of the horse show.....
We had such great weather when we were home - felt like fall - unfortunatly it looked like fall too with all the corn turned brown already - very, very, dry and most of the crops are gone......
All for this am - hope to be back this afternoon with some crafty stuff to show off!!!
