Meadow Sunset

Hallo,
Well the puppy has had her walk and play time after that and is now taking a nap - maybe I can get some crafting done today.
I tried to get some done yesterday but DD decided that she didnt want to stay at the out of town swim meet because she had homework due that could only be done on the computer - so yesterday afternoon I made a 2 and 1/2 hour round trip to pick her up.....spent the early part of the afternoon trying to find more wreaths like I had done the other 3 with and couldnt find but one - had to settle for some plainer ones from pottery barn for a few more....
Ah well - the DH and I went to Outback for lunch which was nice and then I got to go to Micheals and shop while he went for a ride on the Harley (good for us both :)
And the Huskers managed to win last night too - boy they have some work to do!!!!! But at least they won!!!
  Alright its crafting time....
Todays pictures are another of my projects from my encaustic wax painting class - this was done with a small iron and a hollow hot pen to draw the grass and flowers....such fun!!!!

Forest for the trees

Hallo,
Getting my day started early with some blog time :)
Another set of wax paintings from my class this week - I did these on the griddle  - first by rubbing a wax stick over black glossy paper that was on top of the gridle. Then to do the trees, I made a puddle of copper wax and dipped a rubber stamp into it and stamped right away onto the glossy paper.
I, as you can see, did a bunch of versions of this as I liked seeing how the different colors looked together....
I went to the BX (military department store ) and found a griddle for only 30 dollars so I bought it - hadn't seen a griddle of any sort at any of the thrift shops ever..... well would you believe that the next day I made my routine stop at the thrift shop on base and found the exact same griddle used for only 5 dollars!!!! (needless to say - I returned the new one - the one I got at the thrift store looks like it has hardly been used at all!!!)
Well that was my thrift store find of the week :) Now I can start doing some playing on my own at home - well when I get some wax anyhow, and some more glossy paper, and maybe a small iron, and the hot pointy tool thingy :)
Well I am starting to see some daylight outside and the puppy is wanting her morning walk - so I guess I had better get a move on :). Both my kids are at an out of town swim meet today - left at 0530 and wont be back till late tonight - I am planning on taking a trip to Micheals today, and Petsmart (my pup has almost outgrown her halter already...) and then take my DH to Outback for lunch!!! And maybe some craft time this afternoon before watching the Huskers play this evening!!
   Have a great weekend!!!

Camera play

 Hallo,
Just a quick post this afternoon - took my camera out for a few monutes this afternoon while playing with my puppy in the back yard - she is so hard to get a good picture of. Either she is running like  a crazy girl or when she is sitting still she either wants to eat the camera or she thinks I am tortureing her - so I was glad to catch a couple good ones.
One of my cactus decided to bloom too and it is so pretty - the petals are so delicate and the color is such a bright lemon yellow. I have been trying out some of the other modes on my camera too....
All for this evening - Take Care

Crimson Encaustic

Hallo,
Another collection of encaustic wax for you today - all in red.
This one is a combination of pieces I did in both the first 2 classes.
The 3 brighter red pieces were done with the iron and the darker one in the bottom left corner was done on the gridle/hot plate - I did red wax onto black paper instead of white and then I used silver ink to make a puddle on the gridle and dipped the tree stamp into it and 'stamped' it onto the red/black piece.
I ended up on call for work last night which was wonderful for me (not so good for the paycheck....)
Belive it or not after sleeping most of the day - I was back in bed by midnight for another 5 hours of sleep....guess I needed to catch up.
I am hoping to get a bit done in the craft room today - going to try to make a couple more wreaths and maybe catch up on some challenges....get the oil changed in the van, mail a package to my Mom....take  my sweet puppy for a walk before class, she is ready to go but I want to wait for a bit more daylight....
   Have a great day!!!

Kitty Halloween

 Hallo,
Just a quick little shout out this am - puppy has taken me for my walk and now I will get this typed up while she settles down so I can sleep (yup - worked last night...)
Another wreath for you today - The main image is another one from Impression Obsession - colored with copics - LOVE this kitty scene!!!
The letters from the banner are from Flourishes again - colored with prismacolor pencils to match the main image. I really love these letters - so simple and easy to make match anything!!! I have only one other letter set and almost never use it, but this one I know I am going to use!!!
I already have in mind a wreath with a Christmas theme!!!!
To get the low down on how I made this - see yesterdays post :) I am off to sleep as I work again tonight!!!

Happy Halloween

 Hallo,
   Happy Halloween!!!!
I finished off a couple Halloween wreaths yesterday and this is one of them :) I just love fall and Halloween!!!
I first took a wreath of sticks that I got at JoAnn's on sale and  then pulled out the batch of leaves that I did last year at this time and never used up (I took out all my scraps of yellow, orange, red and brown cardstock and any scraps of DP with those colors and/or a Halloween/fall theme and cut leaves like crazy with Spellbinders and sizzix leaf dies. Then I ran the plain cardstock one through different texture folders  - I really made ALOT - I did 2 wreath projects last year and 3 now this year and still have enough leaves left to do one more....)  I hot glued the leaves onto the wreath - that was fun!!!
The scene is a stamp from Impression Obsession and is colored with copics - I edged it with a copper mettalic pen and then cut a frame from some copper colored mettalic paper. (can you find the kitty ?)
The banner is a set of stamps from Flourishes that I stamped onto the smallest die cut in a labels die and colored with prismacolor pencils in fall colors to match the picture. I hot glued the letters to a piece of twine to make the banner.
I really had fun making these - both will be up on my Etsy shop this afternoon and I will show you the other one here tomorrow.
Well puppy Kyna (key-na) has informed me that I need to hurry because she wants her walk!!!! :)

Fall Flowers

Hallo,
Well I am up at on the run this am - I didn't get much done around the house or in the craft room yesterday but I did get some crafty time.
I am taking an encaustic wax painting class which is very fun and cool - encaustic wax is definitely my next addiction!!!! In this class we are using irons and a hot plate - griddle and painting  onto mostly glossy paper at this point. Next class we will be trying a clay board.
I have a while pile of pieces that I need to sit down and play with - love how some of them have turned out!!!
I worked sunday night so got only about a three hour nap before class yesterday and didn't accomplish much later in the day - so that means today I need to do some cleaning and a bit of yard work - although my puppy has just informed me that I need to hurry up because she wants to go for her walk !!!!
I have actually had this card made for a week or so and was just waiting for a 'Fall' challenge to share it :) - and guess what, the challenge over at Flourishes this week is for 'fall'. Check out the challenge here - www.flourishes.org/blog/
The stamps are from Flourishes of course - colored with copics. I cut them out and the next layer with Spellbinders dies and edged them with a copper metallic pen.
The ribbons  are a colorful rainbow type one with fall colors separated by a soft brown ribbon, and I added some copper accents with a fabric paint pen from tulip .
Ok - all for this am, off for our walk.....

Purple Daze

Hallo,
Just a quick post - preposted in reality as I will get off work this morning and sleep for a couple hours and then head on over to my Encaustic wax painting class for the afternoon :)
I have been having so much fun with this wax stuff!!! I have definatly found a new addiction - too bad I will have to delay gratification for about a year, except for any classes I can find anyhow. The spot in the house that I am using for my craft room just isnt big enough for this kind of stuff but when DD goes to college next summer I plan to take over her room and then I should have a bit more space :) - and that should give me time to save up some $$ to fund this addiction too :)
The class I am taking at the moment is an encaustic wax painting class and the first class we worked mostly with a small hot iron and a  hot pen kinda thing :) I took a few pieces from that first class and put them in frames today and this is one of them - I did about 5 in shades of purple and chose 4 to fit into this frame.
I will have more of these to show you over the next couple weeks - I only have 2 classes left but the class is a 'double' meaning we have 3 hours with each class so I have been able to get in alot of playing!!!
All for today - Take Care

All for this evening - posting a bit early as I am going downtown for the local Art Walk - I usually set up a table but this time I am going to go and just browse :). The hop officially starts at 9 pm.

Fall Wreath

Hallo,
It is a beautifully COOL morning today and my puppy is antsy for her morning walk....but I know its going to be a busy day so am going to get this up to show you before I get out for a walk, then yard work and then hopefully the craft room!!!
Last fall I took all my fall colored scraps ( brown, orange, reds and yellows) and spent an afternoon cutting out leaves with die cuts and then embossing the plain cardstock ones with texture folders - needless to say I had a boatload of leaves that I am still using a year later :)
I bought 3 of these twig wreaths at Jo Ann's and spent an afternoon glueing leaves to them :).
This wreath is the first that I finished off. I colored up a stamp from Impression Obsession called 'Jack with house' #H1838 with copics and framed it with a copper frame and tucked it into the side of the wreath.
I added 2 banners made with small Spellbinders dies and stickers - it says Happy Halloween :)
I am using this for the current challenge over at the IO blog which is 'Nature inspired' - Fall is my favorite season and I love all the color of the leaves (too bad we don't see much of that here in Florida....)
Check out the challenge here - www.mitrafriant.typepad.com
Well I had better get a move on as the puppy is wearing a track in the carpet running in circles  from the living room through the kitchen and back around the other side ...LOL

Glitter twilight

 Hallo,
I managed a bit of craft time today - I had origionally planned this image for the last challenge over at CHF which was circles but I didn't get ti done in time, so I did it up this the current challenge which is to make a shaped card.
Check out the current Cornish Heritage Farms challenge here - www.cornishheritagefarms.blogspot.com
I used one of my Thomas Kinkade images and colored it with copics.
After I cut it out with a Spellbinders die I ran it through my xyron to add adhesive to the front and then added some clear glitter (from MS) - I had edged the edges with a silver mettalic pen before that too.....
I then cut out the base cardstock with another Spellbinders die, edged it with silver metallic pen and added a silver mess ribbon and some silver pearl drops with a tulip fabric pen.
I am now up to about 25 Christmas cards made - which is good but I send out a TON of cards - so I do have quite a few to go!!!
All for today - need to try and get back to the craft room as it is overflowing with projects waiting to be done and I have a craft fair coming in under a month!!! Too bad I have to work....I could get so much done in the craft room!!!!
   Have a great week!!!

Sleigh ride

Hallo,
Well it is friday afternoon and I have not yet been to sleep after working tonight... I had a photography class this am and then an errand to run, had lunch with my DH and then I was determined to get the last 2 cards done for this weeks release challenges - and the puppy insisted on some play time to, now I am going to have to type fast to make the deadline :) (I found a plastic bottle that my little Kyna took a liking to so she is happily chewing away :)
This card is for the 'Wild and wonderful' challenge - check it out here - www.flourishes.org/blog/
I used Christmas stamps from 2 different Flourishes sets - the main image colored with copics and the other 2 embossed with black embossing powder.
The main image is cut out with a Spellbinders die that is exclusive to Flourishes and matches 2 different sets!!!
I used some twine and a viva decor pearl pen in bronze for accents.
As a kids we used to low to go sleigh riding - one year I rigged up a harness with a rope and coaxed my pony into pulling us around the yard, which got pretty wild a couple time #1 until she got used to it and #2 until Mom forbid me to get her going at a full out gallop :) But boy did we have fun - even if my poor Mom was a bit grayer at  the end of the day :) That sweet old mare - Sugar - was the horse equivalent of Lassie and I still miss her after all these years!!! (and her foal which I raised and trained...such as that was :)
All right - my puppy needs an evening walk so I will sign off now - Have a great weekend!!!

Snowglobe

 Hallo,
A little Christmas project for you today - working again tonight so gotta get this finished :)
I did this for one of the release challenges over at Flourishes this week - check them out, you could win the entire release!!! www.flourishes.org/blog/
This challenge was to make something for a child - well what kid doesn't love a Snowglobe!!!
I used one of my new stamp sets  from Flourishes and colored it with copics - then added some stickles glitter to the snow and snowman. While that dried I worked on the frame. This was a thrift store frame that had a couple rough edges....so I roughed them up some more with some sandpaper and then used embossing ink and white powder to create more 'snow'. As I was putting it all together I really thought the frame needed something more so I added a silver mesh ribbon with a double bow blue ribbon on top and then a few blue rhinestones too.
The phrase is from Flourishes also and both dies are Spellbinders.
Ok all for today - here anyhow :)

Pinterest Christmas

Hallo,
A quick card for you today as I am off to work tonight....
I did this for the current Timeless Tuesday challenge over at Flourishes - and since its release week that means there are this months stamp sets up for the prize this time :) Check it out here - www.flourishes.org/blog/
The challenge this week is to find Christmas inspiration from Pinterest. I really liked the roses and used one of my newer stamp sets from Flourishes. I colored the flowers in shades of red and the foilage in shades of green with my copics.
I cut out the main image and the next layer with Spellbinders dies and layered that onto some pretty gold DP and accented with 2 different gold ribbons and gold viva decor pen. I also edged both Spellbinders layers with a gold mettalic pen, and the base cardstock is green.
