A little bit of red on black.....

 Hallo,
A quick post this evening - I worked last night and stayed up this am to go to my encaustic wax painting class, then a quick run to the post office and a quick 3 hour nap - was too tired to do my stretches today so hopefully that won't come back to haunt me when I head back to bed tonight....
This is one of the pieces I did in class today - red, orange and silver onto black paper. The reds look so dramatic on the black!!!
I edged the edges with a silver metallic pen and put it on top of a black matt and into a 16 by 20 black frame. I think it looks pretty durn good!!!
The first couple pics are of the piece on the matting before I put it in the frame (its so hard to get good pictures with glass over it!!!
2 pics of the framed piece and then 2 close-ups.
All for today - Take Care

Purple - Sweet Pea Stampers

Hallo,
Time for another Sweet Pea Stampers challenge. This time the challenge if for 'PURPLE" - right up my alley - I love purple!!!!
Check out the challenge and all the wonderful inspiration from my teammates here - www.sweetpeastampers.blogspot.co.uk/
I used Meridith Dillman's - Steampunk Doll and colored her with prismacolor pencils - die cut is from Spellbinders. I so love all the fairy/mermaid and steampunk images from Sweet Pea Stamps!!!
The background panel is one that I did in my last weeks encaustic wax class (colored wax applied to glossy paper with a hot iron, hot pen and/or hot plate - soooo fun and sooo addictive!!!)
The panel was done with purples and silver and then I edged both panels with silver metallic pen and accented with silver stickers and silver pearl drops with a tulip fabric pen.
All for today - headed back to the craft room - sweetness!!!

Beachside

 Hallo,
Not as much time at the craft table as I would have liked but did get this frame done up :).
I have had this frame for awhile now, wanting to do something beach themed for the pictures so its been waiting on a pile near my desk, among other piles :)
On top of the frame was a baggy I discovered of stamped, colored and cut out seashells (Gina K stamps) that I had extra from a birdhouse project I did a couple years ago - found these in the big move and purge :)
Then yesterday when I was looking through some of the encaustic wax pieces I did in class the last couple weeks, I pulled out a wax piece I did in last years class and it had a nice beachy feel to it - I had used blues and golds and then embedded a piece of cheesecloth into it and then added a couple small shells and a starfish charm.
So now what to do for the other opening of the frame.....
The challenge this week over at Flourishes is to use 'dots' to color your background and/or image  (also known as pointillism ) which I hadn't done in a long time so I pulled out my beach set from Flourishes and made up a little scene. I colored it with copics and then backed both pieces with navy blue.
Check out the challenge over at Flourishes here - www.flourishes.org/blog/
Not too much new here - did a bit of house cleaning, went and picked up a couple things from the store - for me and for a care package for DD, dropped some stuff off over at the thrift/consignment shop on base, ran over to hang out with some stampin friends for a bit at our biweekly stamp group, puppy got her walk this am and that is about it for my day - other than a bit of couch time after super,  either coloring or working on my latest locker hook rug....
Have a good evening ya'll....time for me to think about getting some super on the table.....

Only God...

Hallo,
Well puppy took me for a longer walk this am than originally planned but it was nice and cool out so that was ok - got a bit warm towards the end ....then I crashed and slept till mid afternoon and was a bit slow to get movin after that.
I did a bit of playing in the craft room though.
This background of this picture is an encaustic wax piece I did in class on Monday . I used a piece of vellum and a rubber stamp from Gina K over the top and then put it all in a floating frame.
I really liked the way it turned out!!!
With the encaustic piece I was trying for a mountain and rock kinda look.....
All for today - I will have this up in the Etsy shop in a bit....

Learning the storm

Hallo,
A quick post before I head off to bed this am - I did this at the same time as the last IO card from Sunday.
I did this for the current challenge over at Impression Obsession - www.mitrafriant.typepad.com
The challenge is for 'things that fly'
I love these 2 airplane stamp - they are my go to for guy cards lately.
I decided to us the chalkboard technique  with a bit of red for pop.
I stamped and embossed all the stamps in white onto the black and layered it to a red panel with a punched edge and a gray card base.
I edged the main panel with a silver metallic pen and added some red and black pearl drops for accents.
I used 3 stamps - all from Impression Obsession - they are #13013 Airplane collage, #13014 Airplane corner and #C13002 Calm and storm.
Well - yaawwwn - that's all for me today - worked last night and I am off to sleep and back to work again tonight!!! Looking forward to my 3 days off though!!!

More Christmas candles

Hallo,
Well its and off and running kind of day....going for a walk with the puppy as soon as I get a bit more daylight, then I have my encaustic wax class, a stop at the post office and may be an hour or so in the craft room before getting my pre-night shift nap....then off to work. Boy was this a short 2 days off!!! Ah well the paycheck will have a bit of something extra thanks to the extra shift.....
I had several hours in the craft room yesterday and this is one I finished off. I had colored the image a week or so ago and that always makes it quicker to put a card together.
I did this one for the current challenge over at Flourishes which is to 'Let it shine' by using a light source. Check out the challenge here - www.flourishes.org/blog/
I used the Christmas candles set  from Flourishes again - one of my favorites and also went with the teal, turquoise  and red colors again. I colored the main image with prismacolor pencils (blended the background with OMS).
I embossed the phrase - also from Flourishes but can't remember which set - in blue/turquoise and used the teal pearl drops from Viva décor again too. I used a sheer gold ribbon and red ribbed ribbon and a very pretty red lace ribbon too, and 2 rhinestone frames for the main panels.
All for this am - time to get a move on.....

Chalkboard Airplanes

Hallo,
A bit less groggy on my feet today and had some quality time in my craft room!!! It was cloudy and rainy off and on so it made for a great crafty day!!!
I did this one for the current challenge over at the Impression Obsession blog - here - www.mitrafriant.typepad.com
The challenge is for 'things that fly'
I love these 2 airplane stamps and decided to do them blackboard style.
I used - #13013 airplane collage,
#13014 airplane corner and #D1383 predict the future, for this card.
I embossed all the stamps with white onto black cardstock and layered that panel to a gray one and a red card base. I did separate layers for the phrase and used a rhinestone frame on that layer too.
I used a silver metallic pen on the black layers and the gray layer.
All for today - time to relax on da couch with the hubby :)

Candle Christmas

Hallo,
Managed to get a card done today with an image from Flourishes that I had colored up awhile ago. (I sit and color on the couch in the evenings a lot while we watch TV so I usually have some images saved up to do up when time allows)
I did this for the current challenge over at Flourishes which is 'Let it shine' - use a light source...like candles...
Check out the challenge here - www.flourishes.org/blog/

I colored this image with prismacolor pencils and cut the layers with Spellbinders dies. Added a sheer gold ribbon and a pretty teal one and some teal colored pearl drop with a Viva Décor pen and then at the last minute, I added the rhinestone frame for the main image.
I love the teal and red combo lately and now have another Christmas card for my pile.
I didn't get much else done today as I worked an extra shift last night so slept most of the day. I rarely do 3 in a row anymore -and these were really busy ones too so I was pooped!!!
All for now - Have a great weekend!!!

Bewitched

 Hallo,
Well I managed to get a few things done in the craft room today - happy me :)
Puppy took me for my walk early and then I made a run to consign some stuff at the thrift shop on base, getting groceries on the way home....
I had this lovely bewitching Sweet Pea Stamp colored up for awhile now so I thought it was time she had her own card.
The challenge this month over at 'One Sweet Challenge' was to use browns, oranges, reds and yellows...and that of course means Halloween (for today anyhow :).
I colored her up with prismacolor pencils and layered her to some DP and a pretty felted sticker. I added a sticker phrase with a bit of bling and some bling in the corners too.
Check out the challenge over at One Sweet Challenge here - http://onesweetchallenge.blogspot.com/
All for me today - time to get me a nap as I work tonight (3am gets difficult if I don't :)

Zig Zag

 Hallo,
Well I didn't get as much done today as I would have liked but I did get the house cleaned and my DD's bed into my former craft room and so that major project is finally done... maybe tomorrow I can get into my craft room and get a few projects done there.
I started another rug the other day - love the color combo of turquoise and  orange so that was where I started.
I wanted to do a zig zag pattern but didn't know how to make look the way I wanted.
Then I was browsing over at Etsy and found someone selling some traditional Moroccan rugs and saw a zig zag pattern made with small squares and decided to try that  and so far it looks pretty good.
All for tonight - rained a bit this evening here, hasn't rained in a couple weeks now which almost feels weird after all the rain the rest of the summer, sounds like more rain on the way in the next few days though.

Encaustic Addiction...and craft room pics

 Hallo,
Well it is 130 pm and I worked last night and haven't been to sleep yet - going to try and stay up until normal people bedtime now because if I do go to sleep I will be down for the count and probably wake up at 3 am, wide awake.
I had an art class this am from 9 till noon - encaustic wax painting. I took this same class last year at this time and since I haven't quite got my craft room completed yet, I decided to take it again.
The first pic is a group of my least favorite from today - I started with my favorite colors - purple and teal and those turned out really well, then I decided to switch colors and did some in red and green and then did 2 of them over in mostly reds.....
The second photo is the very last one I did today because after going back to the purples and teals, I was determined to get something in reds done that I liked and I do like this one - gold, red and orange.
The second one in a frame I did with light purples and silver and then used a rubber stamp of an oriental woman and dipped her into melted dark purple wax and quickly stamped her onto the background.
The last 2 wax pics - 2 groupings of 4- are my favorite of the day and will probably go into a frame sometime very soon!!!
The last 4 pics are of my new craft space (i.e. - DD's former room :) Its not totally finished but about 98% for IN the craft room - I am going to still be taking up some space in the dining room (aka old craft room) until I can get a move on and start doing some more stuff :)
Okay dokay - I had better get out of this chair and keep moving or sleepys will catch up to me....
