Shake it up babe

 Hallo,
Brrrr is it ever cold out this morning - am I really in Florida???
Anyhow maybe this card will help me warm up. I am lovin the new shaker card die that I got from AccuCut craft - cuts and scores just perfectly for a great shaker card.
I used an image from Sweet Pea Stamps artist Marlon Teunissen called 'Emotive' I colored her with prismacolor pencils and added her to the inside of the shaker card.
The shakers are some small clear beads and red foil hearts.
I decorated the outside with rows of red rhinestones and some foam, glittered hearts.
I do believe this will be the Hubbys Valentines Day card :)
All for this am - going to get a bit of sleep and then find something to do in my craft room :)

Valentines Shaker cards

 Hallo,
Just a quick post this am before I head off to sleep for the day (worked last night and again tonight).
Monday was my first class this session for our local, all volunteer  'Center for Lifelong Learning'
I am again teaching a 3D box and card class and for this first class the theme was Valentines. This is a great die cut from AccuCut Craft made just for shaker cards - it cuts the card and scores the folds perfectly for a thin card sized box.
I used clear plastic for the opening and small beads and foil hearts for the shaker stuff. For the inside image I wanted some vintage looking images and ended up at 'Crafty Secrets' and ordered one of their digital sheets with all kinds of vintage Valentines images on it. I printed up several sheets for my 'students' to play with.
Silly me forgot my camera for class but these 2 are ones I made up with some of the leftovers from class - Aren't they cute??
I really love the die because it makes it so easy - just cut, fold, glue bottom and side together and add shaker items before gluing the top closed.
All for today - Look for more good stuff over the weekend!!!

Happy Birthday Lynette!!!

Hallo,
Today a bunch of us got together for a blog hop to wish Lynette (owner of Sweet Pea Stamps) a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
We have lots of great Sweet Pea inspiration for you along the way :)
The hop starts at the Sweet Pea Stamps blog and rolls through the list below.
I used an image from Rebecca Sinz called 'Fairy of the dark forest' and colored her with prismacolor pencils. I added some chrystal laquer to her eyes, nails and lips for just a bit of dimension and shine :)
I made a gift box which I have sent her for her Birthday :)

Christmas challenge - recycle/reuse

 Hallo,
I decided to play along with Crafty Hazelnut on her Christmas challenge blog. As in other years I am going to try and make up a couple Christmas cards every week so maybe I can not have to rush come mid-December this year and I still don't have enough made :)

The challenge blog is located here - http://craftyhazelnutschristmaschallenge.blogspot.com/    and the challenge this time is to recycle/reuse/upcycle or use something you got for free.
In my card the white shiny cardstock in the first card was the pretty back of one of my Christmas cards this year. This white cardstock looks a lot like the 'silver luster' cardstock that I usually get from Paper Temptress that I dug out my stash and used it to make the white card :). The blue cardstock has a beautiful sparkle also and even though I got mine from Flourishes before they closed I know Paper Temptress has some that looks just like it.
It was hard to get all the sparkle of the 2 cardstocks in the pictures but they look really lovely IRL!!!
The dies cut I got after Christmas on sale at Top Dog Dies :) I just love the Nativity die - you will be seeing more of this one soon :)!!!
All for me today - my pups are waiting (not so patiently for their morning walk :).

Rockin Rose gift box

 Hallo,
Just a bit of computer time this mornin' before the pups take me for a short walk and then I get a few hours sleep (I worked last night...)
It will be a busy day for me - need to get up and do a bit of house cleaning - I made a resolution (one of several anyhow) to do a round of deep cleaning in my house - which hasn't been done in a looonngg time I am sad to say....and then tonight the DH and I are going to hang out for a few hours with the crew of wonderful people that make up the instructors and admin folks with our local Center for Lifelong Learning here in town. We are an all volunteer group that holds 2 sessions of classes a year - fall and winter.
We have volunteers that teach everything from politics, religion, investing, computers, history, literature,  health, languages (this time Italian), and dance, zumba and yoga to many craft classes like beading, painting, weaving, crochet, photography and even skeet shooting so we have a great group and have lots of fun. It is only 50 dollars to take up to 4 classes and then 10 for each extra class.
Check out the CLL here if you are local or want to migrate here for a few months in the winter like some many folk do..... - http://cll-fwb.org/

Well the project for today is another one of the boxes that my Mom saved for me all prettied up with pretty papers and another Sweet image from Sweet Pea Stamps. This image is a digital image from Maigan Lynn called 'Rockabilly Rose' and I colored her with prismacolor pencils.
I cut her out with a Spellbinders die and edged it with silver metallic ink and decorated with a pretty die cut and some paper flowers. I also added some glitter to her eyes and fingernails and to the paper flowers. I used a button and some ribbon as a drawer pull on the front and the drawer is decorated on the front and inside bottom with matching papers.

Mermaid gift box

 Hallo,
Well its a rainy and cold winter day here in NW Florida - makes a good day for crafting but not so good for the pictures but wanted to show you my handiwork from yesterdays craft room fun!!!
My pups made me talk a walk in the rain so I am now warming up in my jammies after a nice hot bath and have a cup of tea near at hand while I play on the computer for awhile :)
This gift box was made from a box that my Mom saved for me - it is about 5 by 8 inches and has a great little drawer in it...perfect to decorate.
I used pretty cardstock and then image is from Sweet Pea Stamps called 'Something in the way' by Maigan Lynn.
I colored her with prismacolor pencils for all but the armbands which I did with a gold metallic pen - and then added some glitter. I added a touch of glitter to her eyes and a couple of the seashells too.
I edged the image with gold metallic pen and then added a trim of small seed beads with some crystal lacquer.
For the drawer pull I used 2 buttons - a pretty one for the front and a plainer one on the inside and a piece of twine. I used the same paper on the front of the drawer and the inside bottom of the box.
All for today - need to finish up at least one project in my craft room before getting a nap(have to work tonight :)

Catching up....

Hallo,
Just a short post today to catch up.....I didn't get much time in the craft room over the holidays for several reasons - one I was spending as much time with the kids as they could stand :), 2 worked an extra shift in there somewhere as it has been pretty busy at work lately, and 3 my craft room still has DD's bed in it and she tends to spread out which makes it hard for 2 people to be in there....
So the kids left last Saturday to head back to college and I spent a couple days getting my craft room put back together and getting some of my craft stuff that is stored in my bedroom arranged a bit better. I brought back all my stuff from the booth I had in Panama City - even though I made some money this month I had only 2 other months of the 9 I have been there that I even made booth fee so it was time to give it up, was fun though.
I am hopeful that I can get back to posting on a pretty regular basis from now on....I had planned on teaching another 3D box class with our local CLL but I found out that not enough people signed up for my class so it wont go this time.... I did take 2 classes but should still be able to get in the craft room more.
I am really going to try and do some deep cleaning in my house over the next couple months - a bit at a time....so wish me luck....
First picture is of some sweetness I got in the mail today - I participated in a 'Gift of Love artist exchange' over the holidays and in addition to our exchange most of us added art pieces to give away to 'fans' I added a zentangle jar.... well I won one of the give aways from Jenny Heidewald and aren't they adorable!!! I really love the dragons especially the little dragon stealing cookies :)

The next 2 pics are of my puppy Duke - he usually rides in the back seat because my other older puppy Kyna is a princess and always has to ride in front to see what is going on....as you can see Duke is not so much interested in taking in the scenery as in taking a nap - I took him to the pet shelter clinic yesterday to get him micro chipped (they do it waaayyy cheeper than my vet can) and it was only a 15 minute drive - so my guess would be that Duke will prefer the back seat from now on (when he stretches out he covers most of the back seat anyhow which is the other part of the reason Kyna rides in the front :)
And yes he is a big boy - 8 months old and 70 pounds but still very much a puppy. I will say that I was very pleased with him at the clinic - he was calm and behaved very well, such a good, sweet boy!!!!
All for today - will have some more crafty stuff for you tomorrow!!!

Chalk experiment - Chalk-ah-lot

Hallo,
I have a fun little project for you today - inspired by a challenge blog called 'Chalk-ah-lot café - you can find it here - http://www.chalk-ah-lot.blogspot.com/
I hadn't done anything with chalks in a loooonnnggg time so when I saw this blog and that their challenge this time was 'Anything goes -with chalk' I decided to join in.
I used a rubber stamp from Sweet Pea Stamps called 'Sea Turtle Kiss' by Mitzi Sato-Wiuff.
I enlarged the image and then traced it onto a tray that I had covered with chalkboard paint.
I then used a white paint pen to trace the lines and used chalk to color it in.
The chalk was a challenge as I first tried artist chalk which didn't work that well, then some kids variety sidewalk chalk which also didn't work well and then last thing I had was some chalks from Stampin Up which I colored on with small pom pom's. I ended up doing 3 layers of chalk, using workable fixative in between each layer and again on top of the last layer. The chalk was just very light....
I sealed the image with acrylic sealer and then added the twine and the seashells to make a pretty hanging.
Below are some pics of things along the way....
