Black sails

Hallo,

Pirate themed painting for ya today for a show this week at our local Art cooperative.

This is a digital image created from a photo of one of my paintings - in the Firefly program from Adobe. I printed it out on matt paper and glued it to a cradled panel.

I then added several layers of encaustic medium. I then did some painting with encaustic paint on the waves and the clouds. I added a bit of lightening with silver foil.

Fall hydarngea

Hallo,

Last time I did this print up with encaustic, I 'pinked' it out. This time I stayed with the fall colors. This is a cyanotype print from one of my photos.

I colored in the hydrangea with pencils and then glued the print to a cradled wood panel. I then added several layers of encaustic medium and accented with encaustic paint a nd a bit of gold foil.

The painting is 8 by 10 inches and framed in a float frame.

'O Clementine

Hallo,

I have been playing alot with the cyanotype prints I made a couple months ago and they are so much fun.

This was a photo of one of my Clementi flowers from my backyard(a few years ago) - turned into a transparency and used that to make the cyanotype print.

I then colored the flower with pencils and then glued the print to a cradled wood panel.

I added several layers of encaustic medium and then some accents in white and a bit of gold foil.

The painting is 8 by 10 inches, framed in a float frame.

This painting is in a show in Panama City Fl. at the moment.

    Have a great day!!!

Foggy Mountain sunset

Hallo,

Well, this painting started out as a cyanotype print of the 'creepy tree' from up by my brothers place in the Snowy Range of Wy.

Cant see much of the cyanotype print in these photos but it defiantly adds to the atmosphere in the background. I glued the print to a cradled wood panel and then added several layers of encaustic medium. Then I painted the tree and sky - and eventually the fog with encaustic paint.

8 by 10 inches framed in a float frame.

Purple and turquoise basket

Hallo,

Trying to get caught up here on my latest projects and eventually caught up on Etsy too. This basket and some others are at a Artisan Craft fair at the Arts and Design Society of Fort Walton Beach, Florida at the moment.

I wanted to use this big shell slice for a handle instead of the basket start - hadn't done one like it before so finding the best way to secure the shell as a handle was a challenge. It is pretty secure but may have to try something else next time to see what works better.

I used 1/4-inch coil and hemp twine to wrap. Added a few turquoise beads too.

All for today - Have a great weekend!!!

Iris Mania

Hallo,

And just to show that I am still doing some painting in the studio, this one I finished up over the weekend.

This panel is on its third (and last) rendition.....I had done 2 other paintings on this panel - well started them, didnt like them, set it aside, came back to it and started over...

I used some drawings from and old flower book printed onto tissue paper as an under drawing. In the first picture you can see the drawings and I was starting to color the background with pan pastels.

Pictures 3, 4 and 5 show the progression of one of the bigger iris.

The last 3 pictures are of the finished painting.

Encaustic wax with pan pastels and a bit of oil sticks. It measures 12 inches wide by 24 inches tall.

All for today - Have a great Monday ya'll.

Hallo,

   Another basket for you.

I started with the other earring of the pair as well as all the same supplies as the last one - except I added some red into some of the upper layers just for fun.

It measures about 6 inches round and 2 and 1/2 inches high.
