Mars rising

 Hallo,
Showing off a mixed media encaustic painting I took to Artel Gallery in Pensacola for their latest show - 'Cyberpunk'
I had taken one other also but that one didn't make it into the show.
This painting is called 'Mars Rising'
I took several old computer circuit boards and layered them up onto the right side of this board. I also used a couple photos of circuit boards that I embedded into the wax - along the left upper edge of the real circuit boards.
Then I painted the board with encaustic wax leaving the bottom portion mostly gray and the upper left corner reds and oranges like a mars dust storm. Then I added some encaustic across the circuit boards too. The 'rocks' are pieces of rusted metal that I embedded into the wax.
The green lines were done with a carving tool and a green oil stick.
I had a lot of fun doing this one. The cradled board measures 16 by 20 but with the circuit boards the whole painting measures about 22 inches wide by 18 inches tall.
   Have a great day!!!

Zoo time

 Hallo,
Last weekend on my way back from Pensacola to drop off a couple paintings at Artel gallery for a new show, I stopped on my way home at our local zoo.
Since it was around lunchtime, a lot of the animals were sleeping or hiding in the shade but the giraffes and the parakeets made for some fun photos as well as a few others.
I hadn't been to the Zoo in maybe 8 to 10 years so it was a nice way to spend a couple hours, and the weather was perfect - warm but not to hot and a nice breeze.
   All for today, Take Care
