Terra Rustica II

Hallo,

  ( First picture is the final rendition of this painting - I toned down the sky a bit after looking at it for awhile)

  Another rusty encaustic painting for you today. This one is 16H by 20 W.

I started with a somewhat wild sunset(we have had some really wild sunsets around here lately) and just did plain medium on the bottom half with some texture. The first picture is after I painted the first step of the rusted metal stuff onto it.

  The second picture is after I used the rusting solution on it.

   The third picture is after I added some patinas with gold/green and copper/blue.

   The rest of the photos show the progression of adding details with my hot pen and wax to define the mountains . and the last picture is the finished painting.

   All for today - there is more rust yet to come. I have 4 small 8 by 8 inch panels in the works.

Terra Rustica I

Hallo,

   I have been playing with rust and patina techniques lately along with encaustic.

   I did a background of wax and thought I would like a mostly simple sky. Thought about doing something with the lines in the first pic but ended up covering them up. This was rusted metal over the was for the first picture.

  In the second photo I added some gold/green patina and the beginings of copper/blue patina and then added some more color to the sky.

The third picture is the patinas and rust.

   The fourth photo I toned down the sky's wildness a bit and started adding some lines with wax and my hot pen to define the mountains a bit.

  The last photo is the finished painting. I added a bit of color back into the sky and finished off some more defining lines of the mountains.

The painting is 11H by 14 W and I finished off the sides with black.

Another sunset locker hook rug.

Hallo,

  Another locker hook rug with a sunset theme. Both of these recent rugs will be mailed out soon to 2 of my Nieces.

   Over the last few years I have tried to do a rug for both our Moms, all our siblings and the Nieces and Nephews and I am down to just 5 left to do  - plus a couple new ones for myself to match my kitchen remodel.....
