Christmas Doves

Hallo,
A bit more rain for us today but we did get some sunshine this afternoon - course our morning walk with the spoiled puppy was a bit on the soggy side :).
The DH took both the kids to the range for some target practice this morning so I spent some time in the craft room. I had one more DT project for Sweet Pea Stamps to finish before Graduation week craziness starts on Monday but I also pulled out a Flourishes image and made up a Christmas card.
One of my goals this  year was to do at least one Christmas card a week but that went by the wayside.....its been several months since I have done one.
I have really been missing my Flourishes stamps and I had a few images already colored up so I pulled this one out and from there it was easy to make up a card!!!
Hoping for a bit more sunshine tomorrow as I could really use to do yard work!!!!
   Have a great weekend!!!

Marshmallow Dragon

Hallo,
Another rainy day here in NW Florida but I think I might get outside for a quick walk before it starts up again...waiting for a bit more daylight :)
My DD has talked me into going to the gym with her this am but other that that and a few errands I will make time in the craft room again today :)
Todays project is a tag for a gift - I thought he would be a great tag for a 'smores package' afterall it is summer and that is time for camping, picnics and Smores!!!!
This little dragon is a digi image from Sweet Pea Stamps  - he is called 'Marshmellow Dragon' by Lisa Victoria. You can find him at Sweet Pea Stamps here - www.sweetpeastamps.com
I used a cardboard tag that came from a new pair of jeans and covered it with cardstock and then added my little dragon image. He is colored with prismacolor pencils. Both panels are edged with gold metallic pen.
   Have a great day!!!

Mommy to be....

 Hallo,
Well today is my first day of just over 2 weeks off work!!! YIPPPEEE!!!! I took some vacation time around Graduation for my DS - family starts arriving a couple days before and some are staying for several days after and I allowed myself a couple days on either side of that just to run errands, clean house and - RELAX :) DD leaves for a month in Montenegro with ROTC the Sunday after graduation  so this gives us some extra time too :)
My card today is for the current challenge over at Mo's Digital Challenge blog - here - http://mosdigitalchallenge.blogspot.com/
The challenge is for 'new beginnings' - new baby fits that just right I think :)
I used a digital image from Mo Manning of course and colored her with prismacolor pencils. I used matching DP and ribbons, a couple paper flowers and some gold pearls done with a viva décor pen.
Its a rainy day here today - so after a few errands this am I have spent some really nice rainy day time in my craft room :) - although the weather has made it difficult to get some pics of my projects :)
   Have a great day!!!

Gazebo Music :)

 Hallo,
I am finally getting my organization back in gear and finished off a card today for the current challenge over at Impression Obsession - www.mitrafriant.typepad.com
The challenge is to be 'inspired by a song' and every time I see this sweet gazebo I think of 'The Sound of Music" - you know the scene when the oldest girl meets up with her sweetheart in the gazebo......
I colored the "Gazebo" stamp #H1894 with prismacolor pencils and cut out and edged it with a gold metallic pen. I used some music paper, some gold sticker corners and some gold pearl drop using a via décor pen for decoration.
All for me today - we went out for lunch today and soon I need to get myself a nap as I work tonight....still 'feeling' my sunburn from a day out on the water with some friends so its mostly a typical Memorial Day weekend - Thanks to all who have served - including my DH, my Dad, my Father-in-law, and many, many cousins and friends!!!!!
   Have a great day!!!!

Pretty in blue - wedding gift box

 Hallo,
Just popping in for a bit before going to work tonight, sleep was short today between the comings and goings of the fam and the puppies (babysitting a friends dog for a few days) .
I haven't been very good at posting regular lately - the end of the school year for my DS who is a Senior so a few events and stuff working up to Graduation and my DD is home for a short month before headed to Europe with ROTC for a month this summer.....my house is very cluttered and disorganized lately :)
I did this box for a friend to give as a wedding present. I love it when I can do these to match the couples colors or theme :) - She even passed on the invitation to me and I put it on the inside of the lid.
The main image is from 'A Day for Daisies' ( ADFD) and is colored with prismacolor pencils. I used Spellbinders dies to cut the image and the layer under it.  Check out  ADFD here - http://www.adayfordaisies.blogspot.com/
Inside the box is a 5 by 8 inch memory book and a card - all matching :) The blue flowers is a ribbon that was originally white and I used inks to dye it to match - When I found this flower ribbon on sale I stocked up just so I would have plenty to use - I have rarely used it white :).
All for today - my guest puppy's Mom should be here to pick him up soon - dogs are so wonderful - he was very happy to stay with us as he loves my dog but when I started gathering up his things to send home you should have seen how excited he got :) so cute :)!!!
   Have a great day!!!!

Owl Journal - kraft challenge at Sweet Pea Stampers

Hallo,
Have you ever tried the kraft colored cardstock from Neenah called 'desert storm' - It is just wonderful to color on. I love how the skin tones look on kraft and the 'desert storm' is nice and sooth and easy to color on!!!
So for the 'kraft' challenge this week over at Sweet Pea Stampers I started with this beautiful image from Sweet Pea Stamps called 'Silentness'(owl version) by Elaine Cox
and printed her onto the 'desert storm' cardstock. I colored her with prismacolor pencils.
I layered her to some kraft core - coordinations paper that was embossed with a texture folder and sanded off.
The base layer on this journal is normal kraft cardstock that I embossed with the same folder as the middle layer and inked the texture with gray ink.
I edged the main layer and the journal layer with silver metallic ink and added some pearl drops with a silver fabric paint pen from tulip and added some white feathers too.
You can find this great image as both a rubber stamp and digital image here - www.sweetpeastamps.com  - below is a coupon good through this weekend!!!! :) Sweetness!!!
Join us and play in our challenge this time and you could win some free images from Sweet Pea Stamps :)

All for me today - Take Care!!!

Quilt style locker hook rug

 Hallo,
I finished off another locker hook rug the other night - I plan for this one to be a Christmas present for one of the Mom's - and I will be making another one with the same fabrics - probably the same pattern, although I thought about trying a 'log-cabin' type pattern - quilt style.
This rug measures - 32 inches by 52.5 inches - or 2 foot 8 inches by 4 foot 4 inches.
Just out of curiosity and a bit of Type A-ness, I kept track (for the most part) of how long I worked on this rug and how many yards of material are in it.
There were times that I sat down and worked on the rug for 15/20 minutes and forgot to write it down but I think I didn't miss too many so the total on that is at least 112 hours of working on the rug - starting from cutting material and preparing the canvas.
And there is about 25 yards of material in this rug. 100% cotton and mostly quilting fabrics because they are good durable fabrics. Most of the fabric I got on sale - even if only 30 or 40% off, so there is at least 130 dollars worth of material (give or take depending on sales - and I really didn't keep track) plus a bit for the canvas and the locking thread.
Almost all of the time I worked on it was while watching TV with the family in the evenings - I always have something to do in the evenings - either the rugs or coloring, or some other crafty thing...
The rugs are easy to do and very relaxing too!!!
My next rug is going to be for my son to take to college with him then I can get the second one of this style done :)
All for today - Take Care

Oriental Journal

 Hallo,
Well I didn't get as  much done in the craft room yesterday as I would have liked but I did get a batch of graduation cards done and this journal.
I did this journal for a friend of mine who found out last week that her hubbys next assignment with the military will be to Japan. So they will be moving soon - first part of July I think. Its their first time overseas so I thought she might like a journal for their new adventure - and her Birthday is this week too :)
I covered the journal in oriental washi paper from my long hoarded stash :) and added some ribbons to match how I colored the image.
The image is - of course - from Sweet Pea Stamps. She is called 'Pink Peony' and is by Ching Chou Kuik.
She is available as a rubber stamp and digital image. I colored her with prismacolor pencils and then cut her out with a Spellbinders die and edged with a gold metallic pen.
I also added some pearl drops with a viva décor pen.
All for today - errands to run and then back to the craft room fast as I can :)

Thunder beach bike rally

 Hallo,
A quick note and set of pics before I head to work tonight (thank goodness for 5 hour energy - might be a 2 shot night :)
My DH and I headed over to Panama City today with a couple friends to take in the atmosphere of 'Thunder Beach' bike rally.
The first picture shows a motorcycle equipped with a perch for the beautiful McCaw that you can see stretching his legs - complete with a vest for the bird and a leash to the perch - so cool!!!
The next couple pics are of a few old bikes that were really cool.
Its an hour and a half ride each way - coming home was more like 2 hours due to all the traffic but it was a lot of fun (although I can really feel my hips and rear tonight - not used to riding much....)
Wish we could have stayed awhile longer but I have to work tonight so we left early and I got a very short nap and off to work now.....
Have a great weekend....P.S. the last pic is a view from the porch at the place we ate lunch (there were a lot more bikini's on the road/bikes than the beach :)

Steampunk Wedding

 Hallo,
I finished off this wedding box and memory book combo yesterday evening and took pics of it when the sun finally came out this am - my crafting for today got derailed by a spectacular find at the thrift store this am - a beautiful cabinet for my front hallway - solid wood, not the cheep composite stuff and at an amazingly cheep price  too!!! (pics below :)
Anyway about my crafty project - the main image is from Sweet Pea Stamps and is called "Romantic Moment' by Charity Dauenhauer. I printed it and colored up 3 images - one for the box, one for the memory book and one for the card. I used prismacolor pencils.
I took the steampunk flavor of the image and decorated the box and book with steampunk papers - clocks and keys and vintage lace and some hardware from Tim Holtz - the key hole mainly - threaded some green and silver ribbon through the keyhole and added several charms - a key, a small clock, and a charm that says 'to love and cherish.
I really like how this one turned out - liking the steampunk more and more lately!!
All for today - a few chores to do and maybe I can get to the craft room tomorrow!!!
       Take Care
