Lake song...

Hallo,
I haven't posted for awhile again - been a busy summer lately. My DD is home for a couple months before she goes for her military training so we have been hanging out a bit now and then - she decided to work while she was home so she does have that much free time.
Its amazing how busy I can keep with yard work, house work, walking the dogs, the job and finding a bit of time every week to get to the studio and paint. My current project is a portrait and I haven't ever done a portrait so its a challenge....I am doing it in the cold wax and oils onto a heavy weight paper for oils.
This painting is currently at the Artel gallery in Pensacola for their "Music to my eyes" show and it won an 'Honerable Mention' - Happy me!! I have 2 paintings in the show again - 2 in a row now and 4 shows in a row to have paintings in - very happy me!!!
This painting was done with cold wax and oils and is 24 by 12 inches. I really didn't have much in mind when I started other than a lake scene with flowers - the tree was a last add on because that corner looked like it needed a bit more, and I liked the idea of the petals on the breeze. Then I added some 'fireflies' - little dots of light as I felt this painting had an evening feel....\
Down in the right hand corner is a pair of eyes that I added - as in music to my eyes....but it looked too disembodied so I added a shadow that is cat shaped...
I had stained the sides with wood stain and taped them off and so that turned out nice....
Well better get off to work this am....

Movement of music

 Hallo,
A dreary, cloudy, muggy day here....I ran 2 paintings over to Pensacola to Artel gallery for their new show - theme is 'Music to your eyes"
Well in my mind music for the eyes is color so this abstract is one of my entries - the orange is more of a coral pinkish orange  IRL instead of the more orangey that it looks here but no matter how I edited it,  it wouldn't look just right....
It is 12 inches wide and 24 inches tall and I finished the edges with orange and the stray dripping of white, purple and blue....
Busy weekend with not much accomplished except for my time in the studio.....had planned for a lot more but....ah well....
   Have a great week!!!

Farm pics

 Hallo,
One last post with pics from our Graduation trip to Nebraska.
The farm where my Hubby grew up (and I spent a fair amount of time at as a kid too when our familys got together) is being taken over by the state to build a highway right through the house and yard - sometime in the next year - ish, but as we don't get home very often we spent a bit of time wandering around and in some of the sheds and such and I took a bunch of pictures.
The last 2 pics are taken behind the house where the 'cave' is - storage for canned food and the tornado shelter....
All for today - off to work....

Halloween Kitty

Hallo,
A sweet Halloween card for you today.
The digital image is by Olga Gre and I colored her with polychrome pencils onto cryogen white cardstock from Paper Temptress.
I cut the kitty out and layered her to 'classic linen-antique gray' also from Paper Temptress. A really pretty gray with a bit of soft texture.
Then I added the 'Happy Halloween phrase, the sticker mouse and mask for kitty, and lastly some yellow and orange rhinestones.
Getting a head start on Halloween this year :)
    Have a great week!!!

Paula's graduation and commisioning .....

 Hallo,
Well my daughter Paula is now a college graduate and a 2nd Lt. in the ARMY.....it was a busy week full of family, food, walking and more family....
The first pics are from in front of the big coliseum in Lincoln and on the pedestrian bridge right beside it that over looks Husker stadium.
The next batch of pics is from the Commissioning ceremony - Paula's friend Eathon swore her in. Then she chose me and her brother Jack to have the privilege of pinning on her rank, and last but the one that brought me to tears was her Dad giving her her first salute !!!!
We are very proud of this hard working, smart, woman of ours!!!!
Have a Happy Mothers Day everyone!!!
