PTI - photo negative
Hallo,
Playing in the craft room again today. I saw this technique over at the Papertrey Ink - called photo negative - though I tweaked it a bit.
Instead of the white frame I used a frame of walnut stain distress ink.
All the stamps are from Papertrey Ink. The base is kraft cardstock with walnut ink for the word background and stamped off rusty hinge for the 'Giga guidlines' . The main panel is stamped with memento brown and colored with copics.
I added some embellishments with a tulip ' beads in a bottle' in copper.
Check out the Papertrey Ink blog for a great tutorial and the details of the challenge - www.nicholeheady.typepad.com
All for today - time for me to get int the pool for some water aerobis :) and then maybe a bit of laying around.

Outlines - bleach it or not
Hallo,
Just a quick note tonight - I have been watching the Outlines blog with their new challenges but was disapointed this week because the challenge was to use a stamp from their 'bleach it or not' line of stamps and I don't have any of them.
Well after my DD and I went to the gym I aimed to do some house cleaning but then bumped into a bleach pen on the shelf and off to my craft room I went.....I have used a bleach pen to bleach cardstock before.
Unfortunatly the bleach pen didn't work - maybe it was too old.
I had not done the bleach technique in awhile and I was determined!!! So back to the laundry room I went - for the real bleach this time.
Well even though I didn't have the bleach it or not stamps, I used other Outlines Stamps and the bleach and this card is the result. I used an orange , yellow and 2 different brown papers- the bleach yeilded shades of yellow in all of them. I layered them onto kraft cardstock, edged the edges with walnut stain distress ink and then added the phrase stamp on top.
Lastly I added some flower soft to the centers of the 2 big flowers.
Check out the challenge here - www.outlineswithkathy.blogspot.com
All for tonight - time for the couch and my copics......ahhh bliss....

P.S. So much for house cleaning eh... :)

HM - Summer Fever
Hallo,
Just a quick little post this am before I head off to bed.
I did this card over the weekend for the current challenge over at the House Mouse challenge blog. The challenge is for 'Summer'.
I really need more HM stamps!!! I didnot have one that fit as well as I would like.....I chose this one because my DS has been running a slight fever for a few days due to a mishap with a souvenir pocket knife (boys will be boys and mamma said I told you so :).
So in a weird kinda way this one fits the summer challenge for me at this time.
Check out the challenge blog for the details of the challenge and some great inspiration!!! www.housemouse-challenge.blogspot.com
I colored this cute image (from House Mouse of course) with copics and edged the panel with gold metallic pen.
I kept the layout rather simple - just a bit off kilter on the main panel which seems to fit feeling a bit off kilter :).
Off to sleep, Take Care

Pretty in pink
Hallo,
Just a quick note this am and off to run errands and get some yard work done.....
This is one of the cards I finished this weekend - I had already colored her and had her in my stash (the last of my stash...) so I finished her up using challenges from both 'In A Sweet Pea Dream' and 'Swet Pea Stampers' - first for lace and second for 'swirls of summer'.
Check out the challenges here - www.inasweetpeadreamchallengeblog.blogspot.com and http://www.sweetpeastampschallenge.blogspot.com/
She is colored with prismacolor pencils. I cut the frame with Spellbinders lacey square and the background is a texture folder. I did the pearls with viva pearl pen.
All for today - Take Care

Egyptian Mermaid
Hallo,
Well after a very hot and sweaty morning trying to make a start catching up on yard work - rewarded but some time in the pool (doing water aerobics but still relaxing :) - I am determined to get in some quality stamping time.
The teens were up till about 4 am ish and then several were back up by 630 to shower and get home so I have a feeling both of my teens will be layin' around a bit today :)
I did this card for 2 challenges - First for the current one over at 'In A Sweet Pea Dream'
http://www.inasweetpeadreamchallengeblog.blogspot.com/
Their challenge is for lace - and I used some lace from my stash.
The second challenge is for 'Sweet Pea Stampers' - http://www.sweetpeastampschallenge.blogspot.com/
and their challenge is "swirls of summer"
This great image is of course from Sweet Pea Stamps and is colored with prismacolor pencils. The 'frame' is a Spellbinders die cut 4 times from a shimmery blue cardstock.
I am not entirely happy with my rendition of darker skin tones but I still like how she turned out over all.
All for today - craft room is calling.

Krafty Outlines
Hallo,
Well after almost 2 weeks of not stamping - I am back :)
I did this card for this weeks challenge over at the Outlines Blog - http://www.outlineswithkathy.blogspot.com
The challenge this time is to 'Keep it Krafty - to use kraft cardstock.
I used several Outlines stamps - I used one as a background and another background for the biggest flower - white kraft ink, brown and london fog memento inks. I also used some of the viva pens for the pearl type accents.
My first night back to work after vacation was last night - not too bad, 'back in the saddle again...'
All for me today - I have a bunch of teenagers in the house tonight for movie night and they are watching Jeff Dunham - I don't know which is funnier - the comedian or listening to what the kids decide to laugh at..... :)

Exit Glacier
Hallo,
One last Alaska post and then I hope to have something crafty to show you tomorrow.....
On tuesday the kiddos and DH went out fishing and I went hiking (I am not that into fishing). I hiked up to Exit glacier in Seward - I hiked out to this glacier 20 years ago in the spring with my dear friend Paula. When we did it there was still alot of snow on the ground - we were hip deep in snow and still couldn't see the glacier very well so we ended up climbing a really big rock (covered with ice and snow....the rock we climbed is picture #3 - the glacier at that time was right at the rocks edge and you could see the top of the glacier towering over the rock).
This first picture is how Exit looks today, the second picture is of one of the signs at a viewspot that shows where the glacier was in 1995 (we hiked the glacier in 1991 ).
After hiking I spent some time wandering the gift shops in Seward.
Wednesday am the 4 of us went Kayaking in the bay (with a group and a guide of course) for about 2 and 1/2 hours - none of us had kayaked before so it was a fun and funny experience.
I did not bring my camera but Paula brought a little disposable so eventually I may have some pics of our kayaking....
After kayaking we ate lunch and headed back to Anchorage to catch our plane at 8 PM - we got back to hot/muggy Florida about 1130 today. I have unpacked, did laundry, did a bit of cleaning, took a nap.....Thanks to my good neighbors, all my critters are happy and well, and happy to see us back. My old meow was especially happy to see us, and my pooch was just as happy :)
And I am happy to be back!!!
We had a great time and we had incredible weather - normally in Alaska you can expect to be rained on at least 50% of the time but we had very little rain. We got rain the first day and a little rain (but mostly just clouds and gloom) on the day we went on the boat trip to see the galciers and that was it....of BTW the DH and the kids got to see whales on their fishing trip!!!

Seward and Prince William sound
Hallo,
A short note and off for the day - backposting again from tuesday am....DH and the kids are going fishing and I am going to do a bit of hiking and bum around some of the art shops here in Seward, Alaska....
These first 3 pics are the view from our 'cabin' here in Seward. I say 'cabin' but its pretty fancy for a cabin and the kitchen is bigger than mine at home :). The views from the great room(kitchen and living room all in one) are incredible. The porch is right off the great room . The first picture is straight out overlooking the stream and a bald eagle up in the tree. The next 2 pics are looking left and right at the mountains - one of the mountains has a big hanging glacier in its bowl. It was a little cloudy when I took these pics so I may have to retake them because today is sunny and sooo clear - right now the sun is right at the top of the mountain top with the glacier so will have to wait to retake the pics till this afternoon.

The first one is of a group of sea otters - I don't have a zoom lens on my digital camera so this was as close as I could get.
The next picture is from the first glacier we stopped at - I took a picture of a spot I thought was likely to break off (or calve as its called) but naturally the glacier calved at a totally different spot - but I managed to catch most of it in the next couple pics :) Its pretty impressive to see a couple tons of ice break off and fall into the water.
Well its time to get a moving for the day - Take Care

Glacier Hiking
Hallo,
Saturday we may a day trip out to Matanuska Glacier and did a bit of hiking up onto the glacier.
I had hiked this glacier when I lived here almost 20 years ago - even took my Mom hiking up on the glacier once .
The glacier has narrowed from the side somewhat otherwise its the same.
The flowers are Alaskan sweet pea.
Tomorrow (Sunday) we will be driving down to Seward so may not have many pictures.
Monday we are taking a glacier cruise on Prince William sound and then tuesday the boys are going out on a fishing boat - DD is still decideing if she wants to fish or go kayaking. If she decides to go kayaking I will go too - otherwise I will bum around the several art gallerys in town .

More Alaska pics
Hallo,
A few more Alaska pics for you - from our travels on friday.
The day was so clear early in the am the we could see Denali from Anchorage which is rare - it is harder to see in the picture but this first picture here shows both Denali (on the right) and Foraker (on the left) in the backround.
We then drove south around the inlet to Alyeska ski resort.
The flowers up here are incredible - the begonias in my pictures are a full 6 inches across!!!
All for today - not sure if I will have internet in Seward so we will see.
If I do have internet I will post pics from our trip out to Mat-su glacier and our hike up on the glacier next....
