Garden Sanctuary
Finished off another one in my Bee series this last weekend. This one is 15 by 22 inches in a black float frame.
I started with a cyanotype using flowers and weeds from my yard and garden onto watercolor paper.
I then glued it to a cradled wood panel and added several layers of encaustic medium. I colored some of it in with pan pastels and then decided to paint them with encaustic instead. I added some ferns using a stencil and then added the honeycomb/beeswax with a stencil also.
The bees were done with a hot pen with a very fine tip - from a photo printed onto tissue paper to use as an under drawing.
I added a few touches of pan pastels on top of the honeycomb.
Have great week!!!

Another purple basket
I started this basket in the last basket class that I held at HH ARTS Gallery and finally had a few moments to finish it off (just in time for my next class this weekend).
The basket is about 6.5 inches round and 4 inches tall.
I used a seashell slice as a 'start' for this basket.
All for today - have a great week

Bees in the flower beds
Another in my 'Bees' series finished off this weekend. This painting is 11 by 14 inches.
I started this painting with a cyanotype print and mounted it to a cradled panel. I then painted it with encaustic - the flowers I used pan pastels on.
The bees were taken from photos and printed onto tissue paper to use as an under drawing and then I painted them with encaustic using a fine tip hot pen.
I am debating putting this one in a float frame but for now the sides are painted black.
Have a great week!!!

Bee Buzz II to VI
Finished off a few paintings in the studio today, including these 10 by 10 inch hexagon panels.
These paintings all started off as cyanotype prints which I mounted to the cradled panel. I then painted them with encaustic wax and used a bit of pan pastels also.
There are 6 in this little series now with some bigger - regular shaped panels yet to come.

Encaustic and plaster cloth bowl
I did this bowl for a black and white themed show coming up at Artel in Pensacola.
I formed the bowl with plaster cloth and after it was dry I painted with encaustic and used a bit of gauze to add some more texture. I also used gauze and encaustic to secure the piece of driftwood to the bowl and then added seashells on top of the gauze.
I did add some bit of silver here and there but it is hard to see in the photos

More baskets
Showing off 2 more small baskets today made with seashell slices as a base. The first one was done while on our trip back home to Nebraska earlier this month for a wedding. the second was started while waiting for my Hubby who was having surgery.
The beads on the second basket were made with plaster cloth, a layer of encaustic, a layer of silk fabric and another layer of encaustic.
I have a basket class coming up that I am teaching at HH ARTS GALLERY in Fort Walton Beach - just drop me a message if you are interested(not many folks visit here anymore)- it wont let me upload the flyer....

A 2 basket day.....
Yesterday was a very long day!!! My hubby had surgery and between a three-hour delay to start and 4 hours in the recovery room waiting for a floor bed to be ready.......well at least I brought my basket making stuff, and a book!! (and played on my phone and wandered around.....)
Both baskets are about 6.5 inches long by 6 wide and about 2.5 and 3 inches deep.
I used seashell slices for the base and some seashell beads on the first one and some pretty orange beads on the second.
I was using a slightly thicker cord than I usually do so these each took me about 3.5 hours working time to do.
All for today - Take Care
