Driftwood basket

Hallo,

I have been working on this basket for about a week and a half and finally got it finished. First time incorporating a piece of driftwood into the basket so there was some finageling to get it where I wanted it.

I made the base of the basket this time too using a flat rock slice and resin which worked pretty well. I left space around the edge and drilled holes in the resin to attach the cording - also helped to sand the edges of the resin so the coil didn't slip as much.

This basket measures 10 inches round and 3.5 inches tall . Took me almost 20 hours to make.

   Have a great day!!!

Purple basket

Hallo,

Another small basket to show off today - I used a seashell slice for the base and the thicker cording, so it went a bit faster to make - about 5 or 6 hours.

The basket is 6.5 inches round and about 2 inches tall.

   Have a great weekend ya'll!!

Asian style plate basket

Hallo,

Baskets, baskets and more baskets - I haven't had much time to paint in the studio lately, but I will be back at it soon!!!

The base for this basket is a vintage plate with an asian/oriental design .

The basket is 10 inches round and about 3 inches tall. It took me about 15 or 16 hours ish to make.

It may not show that well in the photos but the orange/red of the main color in the basket is just a few shades darker than the orange/red in the plate - it tends to show more reddish in the pictures for some reason.

All for today - take care

Seashell basket

Hallo,

Finished off another basket this week. I will eventually have paintings to show off again soon - I have several in the works just not much time to paint.

For this basket I used a handmade pottery plate that a friend of mine made for me. She made it with the holes already there and I love the seashells!!! The plate is about 1/4 inch thick which is perfect for the core I use also - the core doesn't slide up and down like it can with some of the old plates I have been using.

All for today - Take Care!!!

Cyanotype on silk scarf

Hallo,

We had friends in town last weekend and while the boys were out and about us gals went over to the studio and tried printing cyanotype onto a couple silk scarves. I hadn't tried cyanotype on the silk yet. They turned out pretty nice!!!

I will probably incorporate a silk scarf into my next cyanotype class.

   Have a great day!!

Cyanotype prints

Hallo,

I taught a cyanotype class the end of January and these are some of the prints I did in class along with my students. I was using some recent photos of mine to print from and we also printed some small canvas bags.

It was a cold and windy day - not the greatest for making prints - the photo prints weren't working very well but they all got lots of regular prints to take home along with the canvas bag.

I plan for another cyanotype class in april or may....

   Have a great day!!

Piper

Hallo,

I did this painting for friends of mine who lost their sweet pup to a dog attack just before Christmas. The background is encaustic and then I used a photo printed onto tissue paper and added encaustic over the top to define and add texture to the pup. I also printed out copies of the paw prints that the vet gave them and incorporated them into the painting on the blanket and in the background.

Locker hook rug

Hallo,

I made this locker hook rug for my son because he had left one in storage at my house when he moved to NYC and I ended up using it for my patio.

The rug is about 2.5 feet wide by 4 feet long.

I really need to do a few more rugs and finally use up my stash of fabric.

Planning to teach a locker hook rug class here in April so that will help a bit.

Studio redo - before and during.

Hallo,

Welcome to 2026 - finally getting a chance to do some catch up here on my blog.

Over the holidays the gallery where my art and my studio space is usually closes for a week, so I took advantage of that time to totally revamp my studio space. The first 3 pics show how overstuff and cluttered my studio was. I took everything out of the studio and piled it on tables in the middle of the gallery's classroom space - the next 2 pics - and then started building new shelves and cleaning. When I took things out I tried to group everything together on the tables to make it easier to put back - which really helped!!

I got rid of my 2 big, ungainly worktables and got new shelves and new worktables.   The last 2 pics show new shelves and one of my new tables. Total work time for me was about 32 hours , with my sweet hubby putting in about 7 hours helping me build shelves and put together the worktables.

Stayed tuned for the next post for the 'After' pictures!!!
