Glass mosaic windmill

Hallo,

I finished this glass mosaic up last weekend and still have to put resin on it - but it wont change the look from this first picture. I did this piece on an old door from a broken china cabinet that the glass pane was still intact in.

I am doing this for my Mom and Step-Dad for their wedding anniversary(its going to be a tad late ...)

The windmill at the folks place has a trumpet vine growing all the way up it with pretty red-orange flowers on it.

I drew out what I wanted and taped it to the back of the glass as a pattern to follow. (second pic)

I had a hard time thinking about how I was going to cut the stained glass pieces into thin lines for the tower but then found the glass beads in the 4th photo and they worked perfectly!!

I was worried that the blades wouldn't show up well when I was doing it but it turned out pretty good I thought.

It has been awhile since I have posted but we have been busy. I have done 2 smaller locker hook rugs and another stained glass piece that I will show you tomorrow. We even had Hurricane Sally come by for a visit - fortunately we didn't have any damage other than alot of branches and leaves to clean up!!!

I did both of these locker hook rugs using flannel. The top one is on its was to Wyoming to my nephew. Not sure where the other one will go yet.

Fall leaves glass mosaic

Hallo,

Finished off this glass mosaic this weekend - put a coat of resin on Sunday afternoon and it will have the week to dry - cant get into the studio with working every day. I started this piece by making a drawing colored with colored pencils and taped it to the back as a pattern to follow. Spent several days cutting a bunch of glass initially and then whenever I ran out .

I used an old wooden window frame that still had the glass in the top part. I painted it with a crackle finish several years ago and then finally pulled it out to use when I started doing the glass mosaic.

Hallo,

Quick look at the last  Locker hook rug I finished last week. Random patterns on this one but fun to do. Purples and turquoise colors with double knit fabrics. I always have a rug in the works for my evening couch/TV time.

Driftwood mosaic #2

 Hallo,
Another driftwood piece for you today - I love how the glass and beads turned out  but I wasnt as happy with the resisn on this one - it turned the wood alot darker and I liked it as it was before the resin. I didn't think it would be that dark.
  It still looks cool though.
All for today - off to the studio to play.

Driftwood mosaic #1

 Hallo,
Finally getting around to posting this - finished it off about a month ago.
I was sposed to be on vacation, flying to see my Niece get married this weekend, but covid had other ideas. The wedding was drastically reduced to parents and wedding party only but I decided to go up anyhow and visit with another niece and then drive a couple hours to my brothers place in wyoming and hang out with them and my Mom was going to go to his place too......well Mom decided not to travel and then my other niece didnt feel all that comfy with me coming either - and I had been worrying and debating anyhow so I just cancelled my trip.....kinda bummed but better to be safe......
While I was playing with a glass mosaic piece last month, I picked up a couple pieces of drift wood to see what I could do with them. I added glass pieces, beads and seashells to this one and then a coat of resin.
I am happy with it - and will show you the other one tomorrow. I need to find some more driftwood now.
Take Care and stay safe ya'll
