Flourishes thurs cx

Hallo,

Well blogger was being uncooperative on thursday but I can always backpost right!!! :)

Thursday was a good day , a bit busy , up early to get DS to an off school site test and then was at the car dealer first thing to get a side mirror fixed only to find they painted it the wrong color.....so I went and got groceries instead. Then I headed over to hang out with my local stamping buddies and play for a bit - I just brought some things to color (we often do more talking than stamping :).

This weekend is my Chief Enablers Birthday - Happy Birthday Pat!!! So we celebrated at our stamp group day - (she's not only my Chief Enabler - she enables most of the group because she teaching stamping classes at the local learning center...).

Around lunch time I had to run and puick up DS and a small group of his friends and I ran they out to the beach - ran back to get them later in the afternoon.

OK on to todays card - I did this card for thursdays challenge with Flourishes release week. The main image is from FLourishes - colored with prismacolor pencils. I colored it at stamp group and then finished later in the afternoon.....

Thursdays challenge was a sketch . I also used a background stamp from Flourishes on all 3 panels. I inked it with versamark and then antique linnen ink for the main panel , versamark and tea dye ink for the back panels and embossed them with clear powder.

The embossing is hard to see on the main panel but looks really neat IRL - kinda like a subtle flocking kinda thing.....

The ribbon is also from Flourishes - I love this ribbon, have used up my stash and bought more a couple times now.

Check out all the release challenges here - www.flourishes.org/blog/

All for me today - Take Care

Spring clementis

Hallo,
Another challenge I managed to finish!!!! I LOVE these clementis from Flourishes!!!! I have about 6 different clementis vines on 3 separate trellis in my backyard and they are sooo pretty in summer!!!
I did this card for the release challenge over at Flourishes - www.flourishes.org/blog/
The challenge was based on an inspiration picture of some blue and yellow flowers.....and the promise of spring!!!!
I colored the flowers with copics and layered that panel to a matching blue panel that I embossed with a texture folder and onto some DP with flowers on it....
I layered up the 2 butterflies, added a bit of bling and distressed the edges of the DP panel.
All for today - time for me to get ready for work...

Shiny Brights

Hallo,

Lesson for the day - never try to shop online after working a 12 hour night shift!!!! I got an email from 'My Favorite Things' stamp company this am about the monthly VIP special and didn't want to miss out (as they are sometimes sold out by later in the day) so I decided to go ahead and order before I went to bed this am....and browsed a bit and added a couple more things, and got sleepy and was nodding off, but was determined to get my order in so I pressed on....and ended up at the end of my order hitting the 'place order' button not just twice but 3 times - AAkkk - now I would have been able to use the extras as gifts down the road but the budget didn't really allow for that kind of ooops at this time.....Fortunately for me Kim at MFT is a total doll!!!! I emailed her as soon my head hitting the keyboard woke me enough to realize what I just did , and she was sweet enough to cancel the 2 extra orders for me..... I am such a durf sometimes LOL. So no more am-after-working-night-shift shopping for me!!!!

Thanks Kim!!!!

Ok on to todays cards - would you believe more Christmas cards - at this rate all my 2011 cards will be done by May..... :)

The challenge over at Flourishes forum on SCS this month is to recycle/reuse something you got at Christmas - well one of my kiddos electronic type presents had this great silver glossy cardstock as part of the packaging material - already did one card with it and today finished off 4 more....

I love the ornaments from this Flourishes set - they remind me of Shiny Brights and so I went with that - white, gold, red, blue and antique photo distress embossing powders onto the silver cardstock for some Shiny Bright cards....
I may need to 'find' some more silver glossy cardstock!!!!
All for today - Hope to have some major crafting time tomorrow so I will see you then!!

Antique Doves

Hallo,
I have a card using a stamp from Flourishes for you today - they have a monthly Christmas card challenge in their forum over at SCS for Christmas cards - what a great way for my to get cards done ahead of the Christmas rush!!! (and possibley win more stamps from Flourishes!!) This months theme is to recycle/reuse something from Christmas 2010 - well my first card for the challenge was stamped on the pattern on the inside of a bill envalope :)....todays card is stamped on some mettalic silver cardstock that was part of the packageing material from one of my kids electronic type gifts for Christmas - it was a nice big sheet too so I have at least one other card planned with it too :).
I had trouble deciding what color to emboss the doves with but then spied the copper and brown scrap in my pile and went with that - the antique photo distress embossing powder matched perfectly!!!
I edged the DP with silver mettalic pen and added some silverish sparkley rhinestones and all done....
All for today - last night to work and need to get to my craft room tomorrow to finish up a baby gift!!!!

Other favorites I used were my copics markers and a Spellbinders die to cit the panel behind my 'still life' :)
The phrase is from another Flourishes set.

Red Clementis

Hallo,
Just a quick post for you today - much I still want to do in the craft room and dinner to get ready too......
Another card for the Timeless Tuesday blog hop going on over at Flourishes - check it out here - www.flourishes.org/2011/01/flourishes-timeless-tuesday-100th-blog-hop/
The challenge for Timeless Tuesday this time was to use our favorites - well all my Flourishes stamps are my favorite but as this is one of my newest sets it one of my newest favorites... :)
I did a couple cuttlebug layers with coredinations paper and lightly sanded off to get the color underneath. Then I stamped the clementis with red ink and cut it out with 3 Spellbinders dies from the same label set - discarded the middle layer so some of the red would show through. Then I cut out a couple more clementis to layer on top. Spellbinders, my cuttlebug, and white flatbacked pearls that I color with my copics are more of my favorites!!!!
I am backposting this post and yesterdays as I didn't get to them with all my errands and such - not sure that will work for the hop but thought I would show you anyway.....

Our challenge this time was to use our favorites - well every set from Flourishes is a favorite but this one is one of my newest favorites, other favorites used include my copics, Spellbinders dies, my cuttlebug and texture folders and last but not least an old favorite technique - out-of-the-box......

Vintage postcard - blues

Hallo again,
Wednesday am and I am off to bed for awhile to sleep after work - the kids are out of school early so we might decide to go shopping for a bit....
Another round of Vintage Postcard from Flourishes - todays version in blues....
Again I used the texture folder/Cuttlebug on the base cardstock - the blue base ones are a white core paper and I did some sanding on the texture to highlight it.
Then I embellished with ribbon and some blue rhiestones or flat-backed pearls and they were ready to go.
I am really loveing this set - so easy to make a quick card and still have it look beautiful!!!

All for today...

Vintage Postcard - browns

Hallo,
I am pre-posting today as I plan on heading straight to bed this am after work... :)
More of this wonderful stamp set from Flourishes called Vintage Postcard - todays sample in browns.
Again I used the Cuttlebug and a texture folder for the base cardstock and 2 of them on the white core brown cardstock with some sanding done.
I also found these wonderful bead swirls and flourishes in my stash and they matched nicely so I added them too.
They were origionally 2 large flourishes but I cut them apart to make them stretch for all 4 cards.

All for today - sleeping and back to work tonight.....

Vintage Postcard - red

Hallo,
Brrrrr - it is COLD here this am. And windy to boot - my poor pooch wanted to go for a walk (he is an outside dog and it doesn't bother him a bit)unfortunatly combined with it being cold , I slept too late this am and need to get errands done early because I work tonight!!!
On to todays cards - I love this set from Flourishes. I finished off my Christmas cards over the weekend and this set is very easy to make quick cards that still look beautiful.
I ended up doing about 5 different color versions of this card - today I am showing you the red version :)
The base cardstock in all 4 cards waqs ran through the Cuttlebug with a texture folder - 2 of then with white core paper and then I did some sanding over the texture to make it stand out. That is a technique from Technique Junkie 's Newsletter called 'sanded coredinations'.
The rest of the card is pretty simple - plain stamping and added some matching colored flat-backed pearls and/or some ribbon and that is all.
I hope your week begins well - I need to get in gear...post office, wal-mart, best buy, office depot, the mall and a few groceries in store for me today - topping off with working tonight....
Gotta run - Take Care

Carosel Spotlight

Hallo,
Welcome to Monday - I ran a bunch of errands this morning but did manage a couple hours at the craft table too.
I did this card for this weeks FTTC84 challenge over at Flourishes - www.flourishes.org/blog/
The challenge this week was to use a spotlight technique.
I stamped the carosel horse onto tan paper with brown ink and colored the spotlight with copics.
I didn't add too much in the way of layers and embellies because I kinda liked it simple today....
All for today - have to get ready to work tonight.
I only have tonight and tomorrow night and then I have 9 days off!!!!! My family and I are popping up to Nebraska this weekend for my Mom and Step-Dad's 25th wedding anniversary gala and family reunion!!!! I am really looking forward to it - alot of people I haven't seen in a loooongg time are coming!!!

Sketch Lily

Hallo,
I had some time in the craft room yesterday and came up with these 2 cards for this weeks Flourishes FTTC79 sketch. Check here for the sketch and samples from the DT - www.flourishes.org/blog/
I used the same papers and main image for both cards - just reversed the 2 DP's behind the main image.
The DP is Basic Grey and the main image is colored with copics.
The main image is from Flourishes of course!! I just got this set a week or so ago.
All for today - time to take a short trip, teaching my DD how to drive stick shift.

Sepia Nutcracker

Hallo,
Quick little post before I continue running for the day - woke up at 4 am and couldn't go back to sleep so spent some quality time with my computer (with my old cat sleeping in my lap... :) until the rest of the house started stirring...
Got out fo a quick walk - thundering but didn't get rained on until the last block home. Got on my evil eliptical and 'did my time' also...
I have several chores to do and errands to run before I get any crafting time but one of the 'errands' is really a treat to myself - I am going for a pedi this am, haven't done that in a looonng time...
ANYHOW - todays card I did for this weeks Timeless Tuesday challenge over at Flourishes. The challenge this week was for a single layer card.
Since I already had one of Flourishes Christmas sets still on my desk - I used it again - sepia style.
I embossed a Spellbinders label die for the frame. The Drummer Boy is colored with preismacolor pencils. I also edged the ridges of the frame with white pencil on the inside and brown around the outside to add interest.

All for now - gotta get moving again - lots of schtuff calling my name from the craft room.....
