Bright fall

Hallo,

A quick post this am before I head off to that work thing.

Tried something a bit different here - 2 things actually and the first you really can't see anymore.

First, I tried a wood glue burn - I drew the tree with wood glue and some spot in the grasses too and then burned them with the torch. I saw this technique on Utube......I then colored it all with pan pastels per the video, but I really didn't like how it looked.

I then decided to paint it with encaustic - background is with brushes and then all the tree, leaves and grasses are done with the hot pen and encaustic. Gave me a whole new appreciation for the Artists who use pointillism!!!!!

All for today - Take Care!!

Hallo,

I love fall and the leaves, the crisp air - nothing better than a walk in the woods in fall!!!

8 by 10 inch encaustic painting. The background was done with brushes but the trees, leaves and foreground are all done with a hot pen stylus.

All for this batch  - several paintings in the works so hope to have more to show you soon.

Gold leaf collage

Hallo,
I have a collage piece to show you this am. When I am working with my cold wax and oils and have left over paint at the end of the day I have been 'painting' it onto a piece of arches oil paper and since I had a couple filled up I decided to use them. I tore them into pieces and glued them onto a cradled board.
The cold wax and oils would keep till the next day if I was able to paint every day but since I only get the chance to paint a couple times a week(if lucky) I decided not to totally waste the paint.
Once dry - I added some skeleton leaves on top of the collage and then embossed some metal foil to a couple of the leaves.
The sides are finished with brown paint - cold wax and oils.
This piece is 8 by 10 inches.
All for today - Take Care

Meditation Pool

 Hallo,
I had planned on posting this earlier this week but our internet has been out - time to get rid of our current provider, one too many times....
I finished this painting on Wednesday after teaching my Zentangle class with the CLL group.
I finished off the sides with wood stain this time and like how it looks (with this one at least)
I started with several layers of regular wax to prime the board and then added layers of 3 shades of teal/turquoise blues - with the darker tones at the edges.
Next I added 3 layers of fall leaves in a ripple  pattern with layers of clear wax between .I  also added blue wax swirls at one point a few layers from the top.
The center piece is a piece of clay that I molded from a desk top reproduction of the Labyrinth at the Cathedral in Chartress France - the original being used by the monks for hundreds of years for meditation. Labyrinths also symbolize a journey and can help with life changes a journey of the spirit.
The clay piece is white with blue colored shellac applied and burned on, and I added some blue shellac ripples to the pond also and did a light burn....
I really like this painting a lot - for now it is for sale on my Vango Art site - www.vangoart.com (user name Tera Fujan) and you can also find it on RedBubble - www.redbubble.com (user name  - TeraFujan - no space) - the Red Bubble site gives you the option of a print, or different things made with the pattern of the painting - like leggings, shirts, pillows ect.....
All for me today - got to gather a few things to take with me to the studio tomorrow.
      Take Care
