Some of the rugs I have planned to given to family but I have 2 that will be up in my Etsy shop soon.

Locker hook keeps my hands busy in the evening relaxin on the couch with the hubby watching TV - I alternate between rugs and coloring images to make cards with....

Fall yard work, locker hook and WOW - HUSKERS!!!!!

Hallo,
Another beautiful fall day here in NW Florida - did about 2 hours of yard work yesterday(slowly but surely the yard is looking less like a weed factory)
Then we went to the local pub for a late lunch and to watch football - I brought my locker hook rug (cannot stand to just sit - have to have something to do with my hands....) Watched until halftime of the Husker game at the pub and then DS and I went home to watch the rest.
The Huskers had good moments and bad - defense still needs a lot of work but our young quarterback also threw 3 interceptions....it got down to the last seconds literally and we were losing - so literally the last 4 seconds of the game the quarterback throws the proverbial 'Holy Mary' throw, its tipped and caught in the end-zone and the Huskers win the game - WOW - my DS and I scared the puppy with our yelling. DD was at the game with her Aunt and cousin who is thinking of going to college at UNL too so they really had fun - there is NOTHING that can match Husker stadium after a win like that!!!!!
Anyhow here is a couple pictures of the locker hook rug I am working on - it will be 36 by 60 inches - I am right at 2/3 done. I love these colors and my DD wants me to make her one too - although hers will only be 36 by 36 ish.
All for tonight - will try for some craft room time tomorrow before work....

Locker hook daisys - lots of pictures!!

 Hallo,
Some of these pictures I have had up before but now that I am mostly finished with this locker hook wall hanging I thought I would show them all at once again.
All I have left to do is put a backing on it and I want to do some cloth hooks to hang it with too....
In case you don't know what this is  - it is called locker hook. It uses a mesh canvus and strips of fabric. With a large hook tool (like a crochet hook on one end but an eye on the other to thread a string through) You pull loops of fabric up from below and then draw the string through the loops with the tool to 'lock' the loops on place.
I used a 30 by 36 inch piece of mesh (it gets a bit smaller in the end due to turning under of the edging and just with working it)
I first drew the pattern I wanted with a sharpie marker and then I did the edges and another square along the edges to add a bit more of a 'frame' feel to it. Then I started by doing all the centers of the flowers - mostly because they were the same fabrics as the edges.
Each of the flowers I chose 4 to 5 fabrics and tried to stay in the same tones - the bottom right hand one I used more gold tones, bottom left I used more orangey browns ect..... I did each petal in one fabric and alternating the fabrics in order, so the petals would show up better.
I edged the whole piece in yellows and added some yellow fringe to the bottom edge of the hanging.
I did the sky in mostly teal and tourquose colors because I like the way they contrast the yellows.
I did add 2 darker spots of dark blue and dark teal for some 'clouds' and later added some white fun furr over stitched for some more 'clouds'.
Once I had all the locker hook done I did some over stitching - mainly the flower centers. I added an old button to the center of each flower and then over stiched with fuzzy yellows and brown yarns to make the centers of the flowers pop just a bit.

Locker Hook addict....

 Hallo,
Welcome to saturday morning - the DH and I took puppy for her walk, had a bit of breakfast and now I am sitting at the computer trying to decide what to do next.....can you guess what the most likely next activity will be ?:)
Puppy got really long walks the last 2 days and I did yard work the last couple days too...its a beautiful morning so might head out to the yard again for a bit (once summer hits Florida the yard work is not nearly as much fun - waaayyy to HOT!!)
I really should clean house but its the end of spring break week here and I have a feeling that if I clean today, I will have to do it all over again on Monday....so I have decided to leave it until Monday....even though both the kids are working today.....any excuse to avoid house work :)
I work tonight and tomorrow night so really am feeling a bit lazy today .....
Showing you some pictures of my latest locker hook project - I spent about 2 hours cutting fabric strip for the yellows yesterday....each of the flower petals will be a different but repeating shade/pattern - this first flower in more goldish yellows. I am planning for each flower to be a slightly different shade and then the background that is left will be in teals and turquoises....
This is another big one - 30 by 36 with 5 squares per inch so my strips are 3/4 inch wide... I am planning for this one as a wall hanging....
I already have an idea for another one with a similar theme......since I seem to have plenty of fabric....wasn't sure how much I would need....
I am planning for some fun additions to this one too - like some fun furr yarn poofing from the centers of the flowers and maybe some white funfurr clouds....could be fun :) And I am thinking I may have some fringe around the edges - maybe in yellow.....
Well all for now - going to head outside for a bit.....
Have a great weekend  and Easter Blessings to all!!!

Finished rug and puppy

 Hallo,
Well I finished off my first big locker hook project - I think I will use this one as a rug in my new craft room (when I get into it sometime around the end of the summer :)
I didn't follow a pattern - I just layed it out on the floor and drew out a design with a sharpie.
The canvas started out as 30 by 36 but the finished rug is a bit smaller than that.
My sweet puppy Kyna was 'helping' me get pictures of the rug so I grabbed a few of her too - she doesn't like getting her picture taken mostly so I don't often get her to sit still.....
I already have another project started - it will be the same size but I think this one will be more for a wall hanging - browns, yellows and turquoise blues - yellow flowers,  and with the flower centers and edges  of the rug in the browns, with turquoise blue sky.....
All for today - back to hooking :) - I got the pup out for an hour walk and did about an hour yard work before the rain came today, even got a quick trip to JoAnn's (checked out the on sale fabric because I had a coupon for 25 % off even sale items which works great with stuff already on sale :)
   Have a great weekend!!!

Locker Hook rug

 Hallo,
A quick post this afternoon - a rainy afternoon. I had hoped to spend most of the day in the craft room but other than one card I haven't gotten much done :)
Here's is a couple pics of the latest project with my newest hobby - Locker hook. The canvus  is a 30 by 36 inches but I am sure it will be slightly smaller once done.
I thought about doing a more geometric grid with rectangles outlined in red but ended up giving in to whim and just brought out a sharpie and drew some circles and then some waves - there will end up to be 4 red waves around the tan circles and the rest filled in with whites and creams.
This rug is coming together nicely - its very easy to do and I love that it uses strips of fabric that were scraps. I have several ideas for projects with the locker hook so should keep me busy for awhile...
All for today - Take Care
