C130 - stained glass mosaic - finished.

Finished piecing, laying down

 Hallo,
    It has been awhile but I have finally finished off this stained glass mosaic of a C130 in Coast Guard colors.
  The first picture today is before resin when I finished piecing it all. About 66 total hours of work into this piece!!!
  The second picture is after resin and standing up with the light shining through it. I love how it turned out!!!!
  The last 2 pics are closeups - I used a bit of translucent blue resin dye for the 'water' on the 'beach' and a small amount of white to make a few white caps in the water. I went lite on both because I hadn't worked with those before.....
   Not too much new here - still working and not doing too much else, yard work and playing in the studio. The return to normal has begun and hopefully will continue without a covid resurgence ....
We went out to eat for lunch on Mothers Day for the first time in forever - was nice to be 'out'!!!

Irish skys

 Hallo,
   Another painting I finished off a couple months ago - this one has been over at Artel gallery in Pensacola for a show until last week.
  The sky was done with alcohol inks and a shellac burn covered with clear resin.
   The dolmen and ground is done in cold wax and oils.
   I really love how this one turned out - the contrast between the sky and ground is cool. The resin is so smooth and colorful and the bottom half is textured and soft colors.
   The painting is framed in a floater frame with a black inner and the outer part of the frame is silver.

Blue sky elephants

Hallo,
  Another painting today - one that I did a couple months ago but had forgotten to get a picture of it framed  until this last weekend....
   Another elephant themed painting. This one started with an elephant stencil and wood putty and after it dried I used the torch to burn the wood putty a bit. Next I colored the background and elephant with alcohol inks, dry, a coat of amber shellac a bit of drying time and then a burn.
  I then taped off about an inch and a half near the top and added a couple layers of plain wax. The I added a narrow row of microbeads in blue and embedded them into the wax.
   I added resin to the part I had taped off section near the top. And lastly some small elephants that I did with gold colored clay from a mold.
  All for today - need to get my but off to work....

Mango Koi

Hallo,
  Been busy in the studio playing with alcohol inks and wax, and its soooo much fun - I had forgotten how vibrant the alcohol inks are!!!
  This piece started with a stencil of the koi fish and when it was dry I colored it with alcohol inks and then did the background.
  Once the inks dried - very quickly with alcohol inks - I added a layer of shellac, let it dry a bit and then did a burn.
   I then taped off an area near the top and added encaustic wax to the areas not taped off.
  Taped off a smaller row and added some red microbeads.
  Lastly I added resin to the area I initially taped off to seal it and to add a bit extra pop and shine.
  I framed it in a floating frame with gold edges and it is now for sale on my Vangoart site.
