Hallo,
Three small paintings for you today - all of them are 8 by 8 inches. Many layers of encaustic, oil sticks, pan pastels shellac and oil stick for a soothing ocean style blues.
These, like most of my encaustic paintings are done on cradled wood panels and the sides on these are finished in black.
All for today, am off to play one handed artist at the studio today....

Finished off a new small series in the studio this week - this one is 16 by 20 inches.

Encaustic, oil sticks, pan pastels, shellac and mica powders. Many layers.

Still working mostly left handed but the shoulder is healing nicely.

Speaking of the shoulder, off to PT I go.....

Winter fence line

Hallo,

Well I have been busy but not as much painting went on for a couple weeks - I had surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff in my right shoulder and yes I am right handed.

This painting had the base layers of white and blue on before my surgery and the rest of the painting was done left handed, one handed and with a hot pen and a couple tips - mostly one that has a very fine tip light the old fountain type ink pens that you dipped into a bottle of ink before writing. That tip is wonderful for detail but it does take longer - especially when you are one handed and limited to your nondominant hand :)

I am pleased with how it turned out though. The first 2 pics are of the finished painting and the others start at the beginning and shows how the painting progressed.

It has been 3 weeks since my surgery and am able to use the hand a bit - but still in a sling for a few more weeks . Doing well, but this one handed thing is a pain in the ol butt!!!! I will say that the hubby is getting better at getting my hair into a ponytail without it looking like a three year old did it - he is such a trooper!!!! I will keep him!!!

All for now - Take Care

Hallo,
Lots of pics today - showing the progression of this 8 by 10 inch painting. The last 3 photos are reference photos I took with my phone .
Encaustic wax  - normal layers for the background and then used the hot pen to paint the flowers.
   Have a great day!!!

Ladies choice

Hallo,

Stopping in today and the next couple days with a few small pieces that I finished off last weekend. I am slowly learning my way around my hot pens and all the different tips for them(some old, some new).

  Female cardinal - 'Ladies Choice'

6 by 6 inches. The sides are finished in black.

These small ones are so much fun to do, will be trying some bigger ones eventually.

All for today - Have a great week!!!
