Digital butterfly

Hallo,

Another round of digital experimenting. These were done of a butterfly photo I took at the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha Nebraska last fall.

I used mostly the same filters as yesterdays - not the steampunk one or the 'glass bird house.'

Didn't play as long with this photo as we were running out of time in the class.

All for now - Take Care

A dive into digital art....

Hallo,

I took a class this last weekend on digital art. This turned out to be quite fun and I can see wasting alot of time on the computer 'playing' if I don't watch myself!!! Rather dangerous.

You start with a photo - in this case its a photo I took of a faded and wilted bouquet, a bird feeder, and some wilted camelia flowers from my tree out front of my house.

The program picks up on the style and colors of the photo. Then you chose what filters to add (and there are ALOT to chose from) - you hit the go button and it shows you several options. You can save the pics at any time and then change the filters and go again - to the point that I can't even remember what ones I used for all of these. I think they included - underwater, iridescent, fantasy, bioluminescent, splash images....for the second to last one I added 'steampunk' and then on the last one I added 'glass bird house' as a typed in phrase (yup in addition to a bazillion filters you can type in stuff too).

I have so many ideas turning about in my head right now that its crazy. I want to try some photos of paintings I have done and well the list is rather long......

I will show you another example tomorrow.

  Take Care

Flower basket

Hallo,

Another basket to show you today - my time to paint in the studio has been a bit thin in the last couple weeks but there are works in progress.

I found a coupler cute vintage wood trays at a thrift shop and decided to use them as a basket start. The tray had a rim/lip on it that I drilled some holes into to attach the coil to. I had some hemp twine that matched the colors of the flowers too.

The basket is about  8.5 inches by 5.5 inches and about 2 inches tall.

All for today - Take Care

Coiled seashell basket

      Hallo,
Another basket for you today that I made on our weekend road trip - started on the way over on friday and finished about half way home on Monday. This one is a bit bigger than the one I showed you yesterday - about 5 inches wide by 7 long and about 3.5 inches tall. Same supplies as yesterdays so wont repeat.
   Have a great day!!!

Turquoise and seashell basket

Hallo,

A small basket for you today that I made in the car on a recent weekend trip up to see the Grandbaby - and my Daughter and Son-in-law.

It is about a 6 to 7 hours of driving time depending on traffic and pit stops so I usually bring something along to keep me busy. I started this one the day before our trip and had about 2 and a half rows done when we started the trip and finished it about 5 hours into the trip(with a couple pit stops for me and the pups).

I used a large seashell slice for the basket start and another at the end for a decoration and a few colored beads. The coil is a twisted paper coil and I wrapped it with the light turquoise hemp twine.

The basket is just a bit bigger than my hand and about 2.5 inches tall.

   All for today, Take Care

In the pink

Hallo,

Another encaustic and cyanotype painting for you today.

I used a cyanotype print that I made using a transparency from a photo I took. This is a flowering bush in my neighborhood, and I have no idea what it is called but it is very pretty.

I colored the main flower and a little on the branches and the tiny bud with colored pencils, then glued the paper to a cradled wood panel.

I added several layers of encaustic medium and then used my hot pen to add encaustic paint. Adding the encaustic paint gave more depth and color as well as some texture to the flowers.

Lastly I added some gold foil circles and some pinkish white to the edges.

   All for today

Purple basket

Hallo,

Quick post this evening to show off another basket I made. This is another one made with leftover yarn in my stash for my Grandbaby to play with and use to put things in.

The base is a round wood piece originally made to use as wall decor(I found 3 of them at a thrift shop and they make great starts for baskets!!)

I used 3/4 inch paper coil and yarn.

the basket is about 19 inches round and 9.5 inches tall.
