Winter Blues II and III

Hallo,

Just poppin in real quick to show you the last 2 paintings finished up this weekend in the Winter Forest/Blues series.

Both are 11 by 14 framed in a black float frame.

I started with a double exposure cyanotype and then painted with encaustic.

Winter Blues

Hallo,

A second cyanotype with encaustic painting today. I did this one pretty much the same as my last post. Since the colored pencil trees didnt show up as well as I would have liked, this time I painted the trees in the background with encaustic to make them show up better. Now I wonder if they dont overshadow the white and blue cyanotype trees.....

I have 2 more in this series to finished off, so maybe I can find a happy middle ground...

Forest Blues

Hallo,

Another double printed cyanotype project for you today. The first picture is the cyanotype after I bleached it back a bit.

I then used some stencils of trees to make tree masks and cover up parts of the print with the masks - trying not only to arrange the trees nice but to 'save' some of the prettier parts of the print - and did another exposure.

The second picture is after the second exposure with the tree masks.

I then took the same stencils and used them to make trees in the background with colored pencils. (next time I will use lighter colors as they didn't show up as well as I envisioned after adding encaustic).

Fourth picture - I added several layers of encaustic (the print is mounted on a cradled wood panel - print was done on watercolor paper) and then added some trees in the foreground.

Lastly I added snow - 5th picture. And the last 4 pics is after I framed the painting in a black float frame

I had fun with this one - have 3 others in the works. Two of them already had the trees colored sort of the same as this one and a couple layers of wax on them, just waiting finishing. The last one I still have to add trees in the background with pencils so I am going to try and color then lighter so they might show up a bit more.

All for today - hope you are having a great day!!!
