A quick post this am before I head off to sleep - 2 nights down and 1 more to go!!!!


I did this for this weeks challenge over at Sweet Pea Stampers blog - the challenge is for monochromatic.

This stamp is from Sweet Pea Stamps of course and is colored with copics. I used copic markers from the E family. I soooo LOVE coloring my Sweet Peas!!!!

The background paper matches fairly close - with a bit more orange in it.

The trim is from my garage sale stash and I colored the pearls to match with my copics.

Sweet Pea - orange wings

Monday morning again and JUNE already!!!!! WOW
Today's card was done for this weeks challenge over at 'In A Sweet Pea Dream' - for wings (and a Sweet Pea image of course, but there are plenty to chose from!!). Check out the challenge here - http://www.inasweetpeadreamchallengeblog.blogspot.com/


I colored her with copics and was trying for darker skin tones - not perfect, a little darker than I wanted because you can't see the details around her face very well.....
But I did like how all the oranges and reds turned out.....
I used some yummy BG paper behind her, an orange ribbon, some lighter crochet ribbon and lastly used my copics to color some pearls to match.
Well it was a hot and steamy weekend here in NW Florida and the Pirates once again took over the town yesterday - we parked out lawn chairs right at the edge of the action (hours before) and watched as the town Militia bravely fought the Pirates but ultimately lost (for the 56 th year in a row :). After the battle we took part in the booty and debauchery that is a Pirate celebration (beads throw me some beads, throw me a cup!!! Coin - here, throw me a coin :) - silly, yes we know :) - If you would like - scroll back a post for a few Pirate pictures.....from saturdays row.....yesterday we all just layed around the house (the heat wipes me out - although I didn't get sunburned this year....and the kids were tired because they ran errands and helped out at the festival as part of the ROTC group.) Too bad the fireworks got rained out - both nights....friday evening was a quick late afternoon downpour that got the fireworks and last night was a full blown evening thunderboomer we so often get here in the summer (we actually needed the rain big time....).
All for today - worked last night, back to work tonight but only 3 more shifts - including tonights - till vacation - "North to Alaska" !!!!!

Overrun by Pirates

Hallo - or rather Aaaarrrgggg!!!
Pirates have once again overrun our town - for the 56th year in a row.
It was a hot and steamy Florida day but we (DH and I) arrived about noon and set up the lawn chairs so we would have a good view of the whole battle :) (and a bit of shade...)
During the hours waiting for the arrival of the Pirates we had several local groups performing, and a Pirate group telling storys and singing Pirate songs.....we also got treated to several dance sessions and a limbo contest - lead and particiapated in by the ROTC group from my kids HS.
This first picture is them leading the 'chicken dance' - DS is in the red hat and DD is hiding behind under the tree taking pictures (far left). They also did the macarana, and a couple others....

The Bowlegs Pirate festival is always alot of fun - we have been going since the kids were very small (4 and 3 years old).....it was kinda weird for the DH and I sitting by ourselves this year - course the kids would do more wandering around than sitting but this year we hardly saw them and they even drove seperately as they had to be there early to help set up and stayed later to help clean up....

Well time to get some lunch and mabe some craft time before I head off for work tonight.

Family post - A Birthday Party

Hallo,

I finally got photos edited from our trip home to Nebraska for my MIL's Birthday!!!

I didn't take near as many photos as I probably should have but sometimes I like to just enjoy the company instead of always trying to get the 'perfect photo'.

We had a great time and saw alot of people we rarely get to see so it was alot of fun.

We started the day with a reception at the local church hall and then had a big family dinner get-together at a local restaurant .

Not going to 'talk' too much today as most of you that will be stopping by this post already know who you are and who everyone else is :)

House Mouse - green and yellow

Hallo,
Freaky hot Friday!!!! Another day of heat indexes over 100 degrees - my hibernation period has begun :) - house to car, car to shop, house to pool......waaayyyy to hot for me!!!!
I do go for morning walks but only if I get out the door before 730 am, and do a minimal bit of yard work but the heat is not my favorite thing when its this hot!!!!
Love my craft room on days like this :).
Todays card is for a challenge over at the House Mouse blog for Green Bay Packers colors or football in general......I went with the green and yellow as you can see :).

This cute House Mouse image is colored with copics and then cut out with Spellbinders 'wonky squares' - then I added some faux stitching to each layer with thin sharpie markers, and then a few green rhinestones for some blingy.....

This image reminds me of the kids song - 'monkeys jumpin' on the bed' - mousies jumpin' on the pin coushin - naaa doesn't have the same ring....
All for today - Have a great weekend - We be fightin Pirates this weekend at out local town Pirate festival - pirates will test the waters tonight, with the main invasion tomorrow afternoon - we will see if the Local Militia can hold them off this year (for once :) Lots of great fun - and a great excuse to dress and talk like a Pirate for a couple days!!! aaarrrggg

Outlines - black/white +1

I'm melting...!!!!!

And welcome to summer in Florida - heat indexes over 100, the humidity was lower than normal though.....
Slept a bit, ran and got some groceries, and even managed to get in my pool and do a bit of water aerobics....the shade hits our pool about 430 so if I don't get in the pool early (before 10 am) afternoons is when I usually get in....
I have a card for you today with a fun southwest image from Outlines Rubber Stamps - I did this up for this weeks challenge over at the Outlines blog - check it out as they have just started to do these challenges for us :) - www.outlineswithkathy.blogspot.com


The challenge was for black and white and one other color. I colored it with copics - toner grays and neutral grays and a bit of yellow.
The middle panel is yellow coredinations paper run through a texture folder - thought the texture matched pretty well :) - and then of course sanded off a bit to show the white core....
Layered to black cardstock and blinged up with a few black pearls.

Outhouse Happiness

Just a quick post this am - trying to avoid looking at my list for today :) (for a few minutes anyway....).

The challenge this time is for masculine/boys
and this card is especially for my Step-Dad :)

A few years ago he found an old toilet in a shed that he bought and was clearing out in order to move.....well a few weeks after that there was a toilet decorating a neighbors porch for a Birthday and then it went on to decorate many a porch (always showing up unseen and unacknowledged) for Anniversarys, Birthdays.....ect.ect.... he had a load (no pun intended) of fun over the course of the year or so.....sooooo this will probably be his Birthday card this year :)



This image is of course from Impression Obsession
(Fishing Hole - # H1465) and is colored with prismacolor pencils and then cut out with a Spellbinders labels die.....

Well I guess its time to check out my list and see what I can managed to get done today.....good news - I only have 4 more days to work before our vacation to Alaska!!!!
