Flower gift box

Hallo,

And welcome to another Monday morning, I am headed to bed shortly...I may have to take a short walk before bed - the weather is so pretty this am!!!!

I was planning on going for a ride on the motorcycle yesterday with the DH but overslept and didn't wake until he was about to roll out the door....he didn't want to wake me, knowing that I had to work last night.... both the kids were volunteering at a function for ROTC all afternoon, so I headed off to the craft room (well after sitting on the porch with my tea and the computer to check email and do some blog surfing - can you say Ahhhhh :).

So I did up this box to match a couple cards I made, both of which is for a gift. (I accually plan to do 2 more similar boxes this week - one for my MIL who has a Birthday coming up and while I am at it, one for my Mom for Mother's Day....).

This is a cigar box that I covered with some pretty DP. The main image is from Flourishes - colored with copics. I just love all the flower stamps from Flourishes!!!

I am entering this for 2 challenges over at Flourishes - www.flourishes.com/blog

One - The Timeless Tuesday challenge was to use stitching.....Well my stitching is faux stitching and kinda , well not straight....but if I had to accually use the sewing machine then you would really see some messed up stitches.....(me an sewing machine don't get along so well :).

And the other is for this months release challenge over at Flourishes for 'a cut above' to use dies cuts or a cut edge or border. I used a Spellbinders die cut for the main image and a MS punch for the 2 yellow scalloped borders.
The inside of the box is lined with yellow felt and a bit of cream colored trim, which I also used on the cover and for the 'pull' to open the box.

All for today!!!!

Meditation

Hallo,
Just a short note for you today, have a few things that need to be done before I get a pre-night shift nap in....
I have a card to show you from Sweet Pea Stamps that I have entered in their latest contest - this is for round one and the voting is done by YOU. Pop on over to their blog and take a look at all then entries and then place your vote - I would really love it if you voted for ME :) (the prize after round 3 is $50.00 to spend at Sweet Pea Stamps - talk about heavenly!!!!).
You have until the 15th to vote :)
Here's the spot to place your vote - www.sweetpearubberstamps.blogspot.com/p/stamp-off-entries.html

Ok - on to my card - she is one of my newest stamps from Sweet Pea - called 'Sunrise' by Rachel Anderson.
This is only the 3rd time I have paper pieced one of my Sweet Peas - I love to color them so much that I forget that some of them would look really great paper pieced too.....
I paper pieced her dress and the pillar and then shaded and colored with copics and spica glitter pens.
The rest of her is colored with copics also and the shading around her is done with light pink colors.
The phrase is also from Sweet Pea.
The challenge this time was to follow a sketch - I just loved the sketch (I have already shown you the other one I did with the sketch...).
All for today - trying to get a bit of craft table time before my nap....

P.S. I am number 6 :)

CSS blog hop color challenge

Hallo,
Welcome to another Gina K CSS Alumni blog hop!!!! This time we are using this weeks color challenge over at Stamp TV for our blog hop - white, fresh asparagus, and soft sand (or in my case, as close as I can get to those colors...).
Check out the color challenge here - http://www.stamptv.ning.com/
Also check out Gina's video for details on how to win a free stamp set!!!
www.stamptv.ning.com/forum/topics/color-spotlight-challenge-10

If you are folowing the hop then you came to me from the very talented Sharri - www.istamp4u.blogspot.com/2011/03/gina-k-css-alumni-hop.html

I really like this color combo and managed to get 3 cards done - I was in a mood for clean and simple - especially for the first one.....
This first card uses 'Tree Silhouettes' by Gina. I stamped the group of bare trees in the backround with antique linnen distress ink and the main tree and phrase with peeled paint distress ink. I edged the panel with walnut stain distress ink and tried to decide what else to add ....and decided not to add a thing.

This second card uses the 'Hang in there' set by Theresa. I stamped the leaves on the base cardstock once then again before reinking. Then I stamped the frog image with brown memento ink and colored him with Koh-i-nor pencils (Gina K has these in her shop) - edged the panel with the brown ink and layered it to the green panel. lastly I stamped the phrase in brown. Another quick and fairly simple card - I just love this frog though, he's sooo cute :)

This last card uses 'Block Greetings' by Tami, 'A Year of Borders' by Melanie and 'Take Flight' by Gina.
I stamped the butterflys in brown memento ink onto the sand colored cardstock and layered that panel to green cardstock and to the white base.
On top I layered the block greeting stamped with peeled paint distress ink and distressed the edges and then edged them with brown ink.
In the corner I stamped the butterfly and then stamped it again on another scrap of the sand colored cardstock - colored it with koh-i-nor pencils and cut it out, layering on top.
Added some green flat-backed pearls for accent....
That's all for today ya'll - I will prepost for you for Monday and Tuesday as I start my 3 day stretch Sunday night.....I do have some 'sweet' stuff lined up so hope to see you back to visit again!!!!

On a Pedistal

Hallo,
Its a sweet afternoon - Sweet Pea that is....
I love coloring my Sweet Pea stamps so much that this is one of my first done using paper piecing on my Sweet Peas.
I paper pieced her dress and the pillar and then added shadows with copics and used a silver spica glitter pen on the pillars design too. I colored the rest of her with copics also.
I did her for the current challenge over at 'In A Sweet Pea Dream' to use pink. See more here - www.inasweetpeadreamchallengeblog.blogspot.com

I colored her wings pink with a little red, gave her pink lipsand eye shadow and then used a very light pink as shading around her. The main image and the phrase are both Sweet Pea stamps and both cut with Spellbinders dies and edged in mettalic gold.
I then layered her to a black flocked gold toned ribbon, then onto a pink flowered DP (edged in the gold mettalic pen - as is the black panel) to a black panel and finally to a white card base.
I then added some bling up in the corner and a bit by the phrase. I was following the sketch from the Sweet Pea Stamps blog ( www.sweetpearubberstamps.blogspot.com ) for their current contest but I chose another card to submit for that one......
Well I have managed to get some yard work done today and took my pooch for a walk - I have one errand to run and I plan for another hour or so yard work before some more craft table time.....
The weather is soooo nice - an just warm enough so you don't need a jacket!!!
This is accually a first of 2 posts for today - later this evening will be my Gina K blog hop post so be sure to stop back!!!!
All right time to get a movin'

Running round in circles....

Hallo,
Yup, today feels kinda like I am running around in circles.....I didn't get any yard work done (ya I know you told me I wouldn't - Fran and Pat :).
I got out for a walk this am and then popped over to hang out at with my stampin' group - intending to just color for a bit and leave before lunch to run some errands.....well I got an idea in my head for a card and started in, and fiddled with it, colored a bit, fiddled some more, started a second version, colored....before I knew it, it was 2 pm....so off I went to run errands...a stop at A.C.Moore, which then lead to a stop at Jo Ann's (another story...) then to get groceries and home in time to have about an hour before I need to start supper (and since I didn't eat lunch and its now 4pm.....I grabbed a snack and decided to write up this blog post .....).
All the stamps are from Gina K and I used this weeks sketch from Stamp TV. I embossed the stamps with gold and then sponged on some antique linen distress ink. The second layer is a black with ivory flocking and the last layer is a very pretty gold paper which is shiny and sparkles IRL.
I am hoping to get some yard work done tomorrow as well as some stamping - so we will see how that works.... :)
All for today - going to see if I can sneak in a bit of craft table time yet before super....

Flourishes green

Hallo,
A rainy day in store for our area today - great day for a long morning nap :) and I love sitting in the craft room playing when its raining too....although maybe I should do my errands today, because then if the weather is nice tomorrow I can get some much needed yard work done....
I really do want to get the yard work done - I can feel a planting franzy coming on and I refuse to plant until I get everything cleaned up.....
Ahhh decisions, decisions - but first things first, a quick chat with you all and then a bit of sleep after working last night.
Todays card was done for last weeks Timeless Tuesday challenge over at Flourishes - to make a St. Patricks day card or use mostly green.
All stamps are from Flourishes - colored with copics. I cut the main panel with a Spellbinders die and an 'out-of-the-box' technique. I was in the mood for fairly simple but also wanted to accent this great stamp and I think it worked....
I did add some tiny yellow rhinestones to the centers of some of the blooms and a few green rhinestones in the corners.
Well that is about all for me this am - time to sleep, I love to tuck into my bed when its rainy and thunderboomers, my old cat curled up by my pillow (yes I know she is very spoiled - but at 20 years old she deserves some spoilin').

Summer Fairy

Hallo,
A sweet fairy for you this am before I head off to bed.....
I LOVE coloring and I LOVE coloring my Sweet Pea Stamps!!!! This sweet fairy is colored with prismacolor and lyra pencils and blended a bit with OMS.
Confession/tip - distress inks do not dry over the top of OMS....I tried edging the panel with walnut stain distress ink and all it did was bead up and smear due to the OMS....so since I was set on brown edging to match the base cardstock I tried using clear embossing powder on the distress inks to seal them.....but it didn't look right so out came my gold mettalic pen to the rescue. There is still a bit of the distress ink/embossing around the edges but to me it gives it sort of an antiquey feel.....
I am entering her in 2 challenges - first for Sweet Pea Stampers - http://www.sweetpeastampschallenge.blogspot.com/ - which is for a favorite Sweet Pea stamp (as if I can really chose a favorite, but she is my current favorite.....until I get the new ones mounted on cling foam so I can stamp them up :).

The second challenge is for In A Sweet Pea Dream - http://www.inasweetpeadreamchallengeblog.blogspot.com/
which was for 'summer' and today with this DP she feels like summer to me :).
All for me this am - one more night to work and a few days off to hopefully get some yard work done and play more in the craft room!!!
