Spring Gerbers

Hallo,
Just  short post as I get ready to head off to work tonight - its going to be a long night....I didn't get my nap today :). I ran a bunch of errands and had my bead weaving class from 1 to 430.
I managed to get a few cards done earlier in the day after missy puppy took me for my walk.
I have been coloring alot lately with the coloring class I am teaching - just to show the different looks you can get by just changing up the colors.
Todays card starts with a stamp from Flourishes and a sketch from the current Tuesday challenge on Flourishes blog - Check it out here - www.flourishes.org/blog/
I colored the flowers with copics onto Neenah Desert storm cardstock (colored like kraft cardstock, only its nice and smooth for easy coloring).I added some pretty spring-like DP's and a bright yellow card base and a heart ribbon charm too boot.
All for today - Take Care

Febr GinaK CSS Blog Hop

 Hallo,
Welcome to the Februrary Gina K  CSS blog hop - this time we are using a color challenge from our very own Geri - for red, pink and a neutral color.
You might have come to me from Vicki - http://allidoisstamp.blogspot.com/2013/02/stamp-tv-css-hop-february-5.html  I am sure she had some yummy goodness for you!!!
Make sure to leave some comments along the way, because we will be drawing for a huge grab bag of Gina K products from among the commentors!!!
I did a little something different than I intended on doing and made up a few Sympathy cards. I realize that these are not the normal colors that most - even me - would use for a Sympathy card.....But I lost a very Dear Aunt on friday and she had a Birthday coming up Valentines weekend....these cards went out this am for my Uncle and cousins....
The sets I used from Gina K are 'By your side' and the phrase is from 'Block Greetings' I stamped them with brown memento ink and colored them with copic markers. I did this first one onto neenah desert storm paper and the other one onto cryogen white.
I cut them image and the next layer with a Spellbinders die - layering the main image to some silver paper and edging the image layer with silver metallic pen.
The red paper is coordinations - red with a pink/red core  - I ran it through a texture folder and sanded off the top of the texture. It is a very elegant and subtle look - verses a white core cardstock. Lastly I added some silver pearl drops with some liquid fabric paint from tulip.
Next I am sending you off to Sharri  - http://istamp4u.blogspot.com/2013/02/stamp-tv-css-group-february-blog-hop.html
   Have a great week everyone!!!

Coloring class - 3

Hallo,
Well we are into week 3 of my coloring class with our local 'Adult Learning classes' called "The Center for Lifelong Learning" All the instructors and organizers are volunteers and student pay a minimal fee  - 4 classes for 40 dollars with some classes charging for materials used in class. It is a great opportunity to try and learn new things or reconnect with old hobbies.
I am taking 3 classes this time - a beading class, a locker hook class (kinda a combo of latch hook rug but using material - best thing is it is a great way to use up scraps of material from sewing and /or quilting projects.) and a Zumba class (which has served to remind me #1 that yes I am still a klutz and #2 I am very weak with lateral and side to side movements - so I guess it will be even better for me than I knew for!!)
The class I am teaching is 'Coloring for cardmakers' - using rubber stamped images, blendable pencils (in this case Koh-i-noor) and watercolors (also koh-i-noor)
Both images for this class are from Flourishes - I love their flowers, so much fun to color!!!
For every class I have made a sample board for each student showing the progression of how I color. I usually start with light colors and move towards the darker shades. I demonstrate in class and then we spend time coloring. I have also given them tips on paper and ink, resources for more coloring info and also the blogs and web sites of the stamps I have used in class.
I have a really fun group and I hope they are haveing fun and learning a bit too - mostly the learning for them is to just have fun, experiment and practice!!
All for today - off to class

Coloring class - 2

Hallo,
Well I am fixin to head off to class so I thought I would get this posted.
The first picture is the demo board for my class today. I used stamps from Impression Obsession - www.iostamps.com and Flourishes - www.flourishes.org

The first stamp is the scene from IO and it is really alot easier to color than it looks - alot of the shading is already on the image. The first picture shows my first layer of the lightest colors. You can see how the stamp show shadows under the watering can and the shadow of the cans spout but if you look closer it has the shadows along the fence grid and the left side of the watering can too.
The third photo shows how I added the next darker colors - darker gray to the can and fence, a bit of brown to the center of the flowers and petals and a darker shade of green to the leaves.
In the fourth picture I added a rusty brown color to the can and a darker brown to the flower center/petals and the darkest green to the leaves.
For the magnolia stamp I started with a layer of white over the flowers then 2 light yellows - using the lightest on the flower and a slightly brighter one for the leaves - now magnolias are often a creamy white or ivory colored is why I used pale yellows (you could also use tans or light brown)
On the second layer of the magnolia I did use a light brown to shade some of the curves of the flower petals and a darker green for the leaves and blended back with the lighter colors.
I colored the backround with blue and added a bit of dark green and blue as the darkest layers on the leaves - blending back with the lighter colors.
All for today - looking forward to my weekend off!!!

Hello Pumpkin

 Hallo,
A quick note before I head off to work tonight - I finished off this card today using one of the images from my class that I taught last week.
This stamp is from My Favorite Things - Pure Innocence and is colored with koh-i-noor pencils.
The black frame is a label from a package of paper from the Paper Temptress - it fit perfectly onto this 5 by 5 card.

Sweet treats

 Hallo,
I am a bit sleepy this afternoon so if my post gets a but wonky then you will know why.
I colored the main panel up while stiing on the couch last pm and finished it off today.
The stamp is from Impression Obsession - candy jards G2332.
I did this for the current challenge over at the IO blog which is for something sweet :) Check it out here - www.mitrafriant.typepad.com
I colored it with copics and layered it to some pretty pink DP's and onto darker teal cardstock (I also used the same dark teal for the hearts.)  I used some tissue paper flowers and some heart stickers to finish it off.
All for today - might be nap-time.....
