Iris gift bag
Hallo,
Happy Memorial Day!!!!
We got home yesterday about lunch time from a very quick trip home to Nebraska for my MIL's 80th Birthday Party!!!
We had friends and relatives from all over and many we hadn't seen in a long time so it was great fun!!!!
I am still going through some pictures - may have some for you soon.....meanwhile I managed to get a bit of craft time in the afternoon.
I made up this little gift bag for this weeks Timeless Tuesday challenge over at Flourishes - www.flourishes.org/blog/
The 'box' is thesecond to largest Spellbinders Grand Labels 4 die.
I used a stencil and glimmer mist for the base and a Flourishes image on top.
The main image is colored with prismacolor pencils, cut with a Spellbinders labels die and edged with gold mettalic pen.
The 'handle is 2 ribbons put together and taped to the box.
All for today folks - gotta get somne yard work done and I work tonight.....

Hallo,
Just a quick note - we will see if I can stay awake long enough this morning
to get this posted :)
I did this card last week for a challenge over at Stamp Tv - the challenge was to make your own DP - which is one of my favorite things to do!!!
I used several Gina K sets by Nina Bracket for the backround 'DP'.
I stamped the lace doilly first all over the cardstock with antique linnen distress ink, then added the buttons stamped radomly with tea dye distress ink. Lastly I stamped the yarn basket with weathered wood distress ink and lightly colored it with pencils.
The main image is from Lovely Labels 2 with a phrase also from Gina K. - cut out with the coordinating Spellbinders die and edged with gold mettalic pen.
All for today - one more day to work (or rather one more night :)

Baby Boy
Hallo,
Just a short note before I head for work tonight - I had meant to get this posted this morning but kept hitting my head on the keyboard ( because I kept falling asleep :).
This project started with the bag because I liked the colors.
I needed to get a baby gift done for my Niece and her DH as they are expecting a baby boy any day now. I will take this with us when we pop home to Nebraska on thursday.
Speaking of that - you might not see me here much this week, wednesday I will sleep a bit, clean house, pack and there might not be much time for crafting....and I am not taking my laptop with - we will be very busy the short time we are home!!!
Anyhow - on to my projects. The only thing I did to the bag was cover up the insignia. The tree is from 'Our Daily Bread' and the congradulations is old and I can't read who made it anymore.
The gift box is a cigar box and I covered it with some paper run through various texture folders - the paper was a white core paper - and then did some sanding over the texture so it would show better.
The main image is from 'My Favorite Things' - colored with copics.
I lined the inside bottom of the box with felt.
The memory book is a chipboard book from Tim Holtz and I decorated the cover to match the bag and the box and then covered the pages with various DP to match - and used some of the same papers on the inside of the lid of the box.
Oh and I made a card to match too.
And stamped up a packet of onesies and sleepers from the DP - stamps from Gina K and Impression Obsession - but forgot to get a picture of them.....
All for tonight - gotta get off to work....

Grads
Hallo,
A quick post for the am before I get off and running for the day - I need to get a baby book and memory box done today/tomorrow to take home to Nebr. with us next week - got another baby arriving soon :)
I finally managed to get Graduation cards done....
The stamps I used are from Hanna Stamps (sadly no longer available - unless you can find them on ebay.....)
The local school colors are green so I made 2 of them for our neighbor girls and then I wasn't sure of colors for a friend graduating HS and a newphew graduating college so I just did them in traditional black.
The green tassels are made from thread - all I had was yellow thread handy - but I had a green copic :)
For the guys I went a different way with coredinations paper and a gear folder - I think our friends son is headed for an enginering path in college.....
Ok, all for now - the first run of the day.....

Impression Obsession
Hallo,
Welcome to Thursday am - I am awake today (unlike yesterday...) but a ton of things to do today.....its my kiddos last day of school (we always go to lunch on the last day...), then there is groceries, clean house....and I am determined to get to the craft room today!!!!
Today's cards are for the new challenge over at the Impression Obsession (IO) blog for black and white - check it out here - http://www.mitrafriant.typepad.com/
I did 3 variations of the same card.
The main panel was stamped with IO's cover-a-card-Quilt CC033 in gray ink (I swiped a bit of color off the middle so it was lighter) and then stamped over that with the dress forms. Both stamps are from IO but I could not find the dress forms on the web site this am to get you the # - maybe it is retired.....
Shirley - www.cardartect.blogspot.com has helped me out with the name/# of the main stamp - mannequins, F2375
Thanks!!!!
I stamped the dress forms and embossed them in black, and then stamped/embossed them again onto some gray and darker gray paper with black and white embossing powder.
I then colored in and accented them both with a black copic and a white gel pen, cut them out and layered them on top the main panel.
For behind the main panels I chose a couple different DP and then embellished with flowers and old buttons.
The black and white flowers were black coredinations paper die cut and run through an embossing folder and then sanded to reveal the white core.
In other news - my old meow is feeling better this am after some fluids and a pain shot. I was hopeful that she would sleep a bit during the night with the pain shot but no luck there - she still woke us every 2 hours, just with more energy than she has the past week or so.....silly old meow.....
All for this am folks - off to get my poor ol mutt his walk - he has been waiting not so patiently.....if I make it to the craft room and get something done while I still have daylight for photos there might be another post from me today.....rather ambiguous eh....

Marchin'
Hallo,
I hadn't planned on showing you this card yet but didn't get any crafting time today - got home after work and stayed up a bit dinking with my computer before taking my old meow to her vet appointment.
Old meow is doing fine but she is a bit dehydrated doc said - but I could tell she has been hurting lately too. She wouldn't let me brush her the other day and that is something she usually loves.....
Well doc decided not to do lab work because he could see she was dehydrated which means her kidneys have taken another dip.
Very few pain medicines work well on cats and with kidney troubles there was only one option....so when I got home I gave her some pain medicine and went to sleep - intending to get about 4 hours ....
Well that didn't work, tried to get up and couldn't even see straight, so went back to bed.
When I finally did get up - I corralled old meow (Miss Fancy) for her fluids - easier and cheaper for me to give her fluids at home since she will need fluids a couple times a week for awhile here.....so she is teeed off at me for the moment but I can tell she feels better already - strong little cookie (she turned 20 years old last december BTW).
My card for today was made as a Thank-you card for our local American Legion post - they are sponsoring my DD to go to a conference in D.C. this fall - National Youth Forum on Security and Defense.
I don't know who made the flag background stamp - colored with prismacolor pencils - but the children silhouettes are from Flourishes, embossed with black. I really like how it turned out.
Well I had best get some dinner on the stove.....

Well have a great day - nice and cool here this am, I have all the windows open, great sleeping weather!!!! I have 1 more night to work (tonight) and then 4 off!!!!!

Hallo,
Well despite blogger it looks like the Gina K CSS blog hop is still on for today :).
Looks like I am first of the list this time-aaakkkk :) This time we are following an awesome sketch from our own Melissa Cash. I rarely do circle cards but they are fun when I do :)
Make sure to leave comments on the way because on tuesday am (may 17th) one lucky commenter will win a free stamp set (up to a value of 24.95)

For my first card I used 'The Journey' by Asela and 'A year of borders' by Melanie. I colored the seashells and background with prismacolor pencils and the main image of the kids with copics.
For the next 2 cards I used the 'Heirloom Ornaments' and 'Winter Mittens' both by Nina. I embossed the ornament in gold on one and red sparkle embossing powder on the other. The snowflakes are embossed with white. The background is red glimmer mist with gold glimmer mist over the top.
Ok all for me - now on to see the very talented SHARRI - www.istamp4u.blogspot.com/2011/05/gina-ks-may-css-alumni-hop.html

Sweet Pea - lotsa flowers
Hallo,
Its a Sweet Pea morning!!!
I finished up this card yesterday afternoon - went so quick too. I had done alot of coloring a few weeks a go and so have a small stash of images all ready to go. It makes it quick when you can easily find DP to match what you colored....I often color after I pick out the DP but in this case had just did a bunch of coloring and got lucky that the first paper pack I picked up had what I wanted for DP!!!
This beautiful Sweet Pea Stamps image is colored with prismacolor pencils and cut out with a Spellbinders labels die - using an out-of-the-box technique.
I did her for 2 challeneges - first is for the 'flowers' challenge over at Sweet Pea Stampers - http://www.sweetpeastampschallenge.blogspot.com/
The second challenge was for In A Sweet Pea Dream challenge for 'lots of bling' http://www.inasweetpeadreamchallengeblog.blogspot.com/
I had had these flowers for awhile - hoarding them - but they matched nicely and I used almost all of them :)
All for now - look for another post from me later this evening :)

Flourishes thurs cx
Hallo,
Well blogger was being uncooperative on thursday but I can always backpost right!!! :)
Thursday was a good day , a bit busy , up early to get DS to an off school site test and then was at the car dealer first thing to get a side mirror fixed only to find they painted it the wrong color.....so I went and got groceries instead. Then I headed over to hang out with my local stamping buddies and play for a bit - I just brought some things to color (we often do more talking than stamping :).
This weekend is my Chief Enablers Birthday - Happy Birthday Pat!!! So we celebrated at our stamp group day - (she's not only my Chief Enabler - she enables most of the group because she teaching stamping classes at the local learning center...).
Around lunch time I had to run and puick up DS and a small group of his friends and I ran they out to the beach - ran back to get them later in the afternoon.
OK on to todays card - I did this card for thursdays challenge with Flourishes release week. The main image is from FLourishes - colored with prismacolor pencils. I colored it at stamp group and then finished later in the afternoon.....
Thursdays challenge was a sketch . I also used a background stamp from Flourishes on all 3 panels. I inked it with versamark and then antique linnen ink for the main panel , versamark and tea dye ink for the back panels and embossed them with clear powder.
The embossing is hard to see on the main panel but looks really neat IRL - kinda like a subtle flocking kinda thing.....
The ribbon is also from Flourishes - I love this ribbon, have used up my stash and bought more a couple times now.

Double 3 in a row
Hallo,
Late night, second post of the day for me - you would think that with only 4 hours sleep today after work that I would be tired......almost midnight so I think I will try to hit the hay after this - my kids are getting me up early to take them out for breakfast.....a rare treat....
This card is for todays release week challenge over at Flourishes - check it out here - www.flourishes.org/2011/05/lets-get-3-in-a-row/
I finally managed to get out of bed about 130ish, but while I should have done some house cleaning and such all I really had energy for was the craft room (because it always GIVES me energy - especially a good challenge!!!)
This card had a life of its own and is a bit more layered and blingy than I often do. I started the 3 in a row challenge with the first row - button, bling and die cut but somehow this card insisted on lace and pearls too so I added the bottom row too for a double 3 in a row.
The buttons are 3 from my stash of old buttons, one ended up with a pearl on it.....
The bling is a layer of clear microbeads covering the main image - which is of course a Flourishes image, colored with prismacolor pencils.
The die cut turned out to be 5 die cuts - one for the main image, one for the frame and 3 for the tag phrase - would have been 2 for that part but I accidently smeared the embossing on the phrase and had to do it over - hence another layer....
The lace started as one row and went to 2 so it would show up more....
And lastly the pearls - they were white but I colored them with copics to match the roses (one of my fav tricks - I almost have quit buying anything but white pearls).
Well I guess that is all for me tonight - tons of errands to run tomorrow and MUST squeeze time for tomorrows release challenge too....better get some sleep!!!!!

Chicago river front
Hallo,
Well the last of my pics for you (I took a ton more but decided to just show you a 'few' :).
And again I loaded them backwards - this first picture was Clark street where I cut off from the river and headed north back to my hotel..... but you get the idea......
I got home yesterday without event . Today I am doing laundry and a bit of house cleaning, sent my Mom her Mother's Day package (sorry Mom - going to be a bit late :).
I am planning on heading to the craft room in a few minutes - I brought all kinds of craft stuff to do while in Chicago but between walking and taking pictures and classes all day - I never managed to do any of it....
All for now - Take Care
