Hallo,
A hot, hot day here in NW Florida and amazingly enough not a drop of rain - I can't even remember how many days it has been where we didn't get some rain....
Puppy is restless even though she got a walk this morning after I got home from work and another short one just a bit ago - the short one just seemed to prime the generators on my little energizer puppy though....
Todays card is for the last of the Birthday challenges over at Flourishes - check it out here - www.flourishes.org/blog . You still have plenty of time to join in and maybe win some Flourishes goodies :)!!!
Todays challenge was a 6 part one - sketch - check, colors - check, embossing - check, favorite stamp from Flourishes - check (as they are pretty much all my favorite) - now here is where it gets sticky - bling and ribbon - check but wasn't totally happy and not sure it 'works' (I took and old button and embossed it with old gold embossing powder and then tried many times to tie a bow with this ribbon , because the colors matched, and ended up with a loop instead.....I wonder if having only 4 hours sleep interfered with my bow tying abilities.....)
I embossed the darker teal piece with dots and sanded off and to add a bit to the DP under that I used a sewing tool run through teal ink to make the faux stitching ....
Well - my house is kinda a mess and I am thinking about getting in the pool for a bit (which the way this summer has been means it will probably start thundering about now....) so I had better get off the computer and get in gear....
Have a great day!!!!

Flourishes Tuesday challenge
Hallo,
Boy am I getting some Christmas cards done this week!!! I am up to about 15 total done so far this year (I have a lot more to make, as I usually send about 60....)
The Tuesday challenge at Flourishes is another Christmas one but the catch here is to make it mostly flat for mailing. Check out all the Birthday challenges and the Tuesday one too here - www.flourishes.org/blog/
I had some small pieces of cardstock left over from the threesome challenge a couple days ago so I decided to use them today - I made them 2 by 2 inches and stamped them with holly and colored them with my copics.
I edged the small panels with red copic and backed them with some of the same green DP that I used on the threesome cards too and then to some holly DP from my Christmas stash and then to brown cardstock base.
I embossed the phrase (also from Flourishes) onto red cardstock in gold and cut it out with a Spellbinders fancy tag die.
I added a couple corner stickers and that's all there is to that - and nice and flat to mail too :)
All for today - sleeping and working for me today :)

Sponged background technique
Hallo,
Another Christmas card for you today - this is for another Birthday challenge over at Flourishes. The challenge was to use the technique of sponging the background.
Check out the challenges here - www.flourishes.org/blog/
In the sample card she left it as it was but I couldn't resist adding a few touches of coloring here and there. And since I had some Flourishes Christmas sets out anyhow - I decided to do another Christmas card!!!
I sponged with distress inks - lilac and concord grape, broken china blue and memento teal- then I went with my copics and colored in the holly and berries, the trees and horse and sleigh and added darker blue accents to the fancy scroll work surrounding the picture.
As I was looking through my stash of Christmas paper from last year I was disappointed to find out I almost had no blue left - but I did find a few stray pieces to fit this card.
I accented with silver metallic pen, white gel pen and silver corner stickers.
All for today - errands and work tonight in store for me....

Pink Christmas Poinsettia
Hallo,
Well its a relaxing Tuesday afternoon here - hot and windy this afternoon. Would have loved a bit of a breeze on my morning walk - it was fairly cool when I went out at 7 am, but by 745 it was blazing and no breeze, so the last half hour of my walk was quite hot - even puppy was glad to get back in the house.
I did this card for the 'Christmas in July ' challenge over at Flourishes - they are doing a whole weeks worth of challenges to celebrate their Birthday - check it out here - www.flourishes.org/blog/
I stamped this beautiful poinsettia stamp onto a smooth craft colored cardstock and colored it with prismacolor pencils. I cut it and the pink layer with Spellbinders dies and edged the image panel with metallic gold pen.
The DP is red but the images on the DP are pinkish so it matches pretty well. I used a kraft cardstock base and accented with some gold pearl drops with a viva décor pen.
Speaking of Christmas - I have uploaded all kinds of great Christmas goodies back onto my Etsy shop. Just in case you want to start your Christmas shopping - here is a coupon code for my shop for 20% off - XMASJULY13
The link for my Etsy shop is over in the sidebar towards the top :) - or here is its easier - www.stampqueen.etsy.com

Caseing Heather
Hallo,
A rainy Monday afternoon - again - here in NW Florida.....tried to go for a walk after work this am, looked like I had a little while before the rain came again but instead got about 5 blocks from home and it started raining, came home a bit damp :)
Todays card is for one of the Birthday challenges over at Flourishes - its actually a challenge they have been doing a few weeks now and I just haven't had a chance to play along. The challenge is to CASE the feature DT member - todays is Heather.
The first picture is the card of Heathers that I cased - I really liked the gray tones of the DP layers in the background so that is where I started with mine.
Check out all the inspiration and the Birthday challenges here - www.flourishes.org/blog/
For my card I used the single tulip from one of my newest Flourishes sets and stamped it in memento London fog onto a pretty pearlish gray paper and colored it with prismacolor pencils. I then used 3 different gray toned DP's (one had a slightly purple tone to it too) and then the base cardstock is the same as the one I used for the main image.
I used 2 gray toned ribbon and some cream colored pearl drop with a viva décor pen for accents, and a die cut border piece using a Spellbinders die.(I cut 2 of the border die - the one in gray is below the ribbons and hard to see)
The phrase is one from Gina K.
All for today - going to try and get into the craft room but may end up on the couch working on my DD's locker hook rug or reading as the rain has me a bit on the lazy side today :)

"Pack your bags"
Hallo,
Just a quick card this am before I head off to sleep....
I have a card for you for the current challenge over at Impression Obsession - www.mitrafriant.typepad.com
The challenge is 'pack your bags' travel theme....I just got this stamp in the mail on Friday and couldn't wait to color it up :) I colored it with prismacolor pencils. This stamp is called 'Oak island lighthouse' #H1912
I love lighthouses and one of the better trips I took in my travel Nurse days was a trip to Maine. My younger brother was there on an exchange wrestling trip and I was in New Jersey at the time. I drove up early and spent a couple days having fun before I met up with him and hung out with him for a couple days.
I spent my whole time - lighthouse, antique shop, lobster for lunch, lighthouse, antique shop, lobster for super - I had a blast !!!!
All for this morning - sleepy time :)
Have a great weekend!!!

Ten Minute card
Hallo,
Welcome to Saturday morning....puppy says we need to go for a walk but its raining so I am doing my favorite morning thing - a cup of tea in front of the computer....
Another challenge card from Flourishes today and am using that tenny shoe color combo again.
The DP that I used as a card base is in reality a piece of Christmas paper but it was the right colors so it turned out pretty well I think.
I used the tulips again and colored them the same as I did for the cards I did on Thursdays post.....
I did this card for the '10 minute card' challenge over at Flourishes - www.flourishes.org/blog/
These tulips really do color up so easily and with a couple simple layers and a viva décor pen I was done in no time :) I colored the image with prismacolor pencils.
All for today - going to try for some more craft room time before working tonight :)

Under the sea
Hallo,
This weeks challenge over at Sweet Pea Stampers -http://thesweetpeastampers.blogspot.co.uk/ is "Under the Sea"
I used Ching-Chou Kuik's 'Unregrettable Pirate Life ' and colored her with prismacolor pencils. I love using the pirate gals for my DH's cards as he seems to like them the best :) We have a big pirate festival here in our town every June so pirate stuff is always a hit :)
I used some old map style DP for the background and edged both panels with a silver metallic pen and then added some pretty vintage looking ribbon and some silvery gray pearls :).
Make sure to check out what my fellow DT members have done up for you and we would love you to play along with us - you could win some Sweet Pea stamps or digi's :)
I am also using this for the current challenge over at 'One Sweet Challenge' which is for red/white and blue - check it out here - http://onesweetchallenge.blogspot.com/

Sweet Threesome
Hallo,
Well I am about to head off to bed - busy day....first a long walk with my crazy puppy, then some computer and craft time, and then when my DD got off work at 1 we went to Pensacola shopping as she was in need of some clothes and stuff for college.
Of course we also went to the JoAnn's super store and Hobby Lobby :).
I did these 3 little cards for one of the Birthday challenges going on over at Flourishes - check out all the fun here - www.flourishes.org/blog/ This challenge was to make 3 small (3X3) cards.
I used one of my newer sets from Flourishes and the colors came about thanks to a pair of running shoes that my DD tried on at the mall :) they were a light turquoise and a greenish tinted yellow and I liked it (my DD will be happy if she knew how close to taking a picture of the shoes I was so I would be sure to remember the colors...I really would have gotten eye rolls then - as it was I saw another combo later and also didn't take a picture and now can't remember - pout) .
All 3 cards were made from scarps in my scrap bin and colored with prismacolor pencils.

Vintage Wildflowers
Hallo,
I am home from work and headed off to sleep - puppy made me go for a walk first....but first I will show you another card I did for the first Birthday challenge over at Flourishes - which is for a black and white Birthday card. Check it out here - www.flourishes.org/blog/
I wasn't as happy with how this one had turned out - it does look a bit better in IRL though - but it turned out a bit busier than I intended.
I may have to try another one as I would like to do one CAS style but certainly didn't mange it here :).
I used my new set 'picking wildflowers' and embossed it in black onto DP and layered it to more DP and added lots of pearls in black and white...

Vintage Tulips
Hallo,
Well I really should be trying to get a nap before working tonight but got busy in the craft room after doing some housecleaning (yah me!!).
Flourishes is starting their Birthday celebrations and is having challenges every day!!!! Yippee - with prizes too - yippee..... check it out here - www.flourishes.org/blog/
The challenge for today is Black and White - I had really intended for a lot more white and tried to go CAS but alas - CAS is just not that easy for me :)
I have several black and white DP's and a black ribbon with roses on it, lots of pearls both small strands and pearl drops done with a viva décor pen.
I stamped the main image and colored it with gray tones and then fussy cut it out to layer in the frame.
Alright it really is nap time....have a great day!!!

Sunset hike
Hallo,
Well it rained gangbusters here last night - I love sleeping when its raining :) Cloudy this morning so we will see if we get some rain today - summer in Florida there is always a 30/40% chance of rain but this summer we have gotten more rain than we have had in about 7/8 years....
Another CHF card for you today - I looked at the new CHF site last night and this old CHF stamp is not on the new site....
I stamped the image onto some DP that had a bird on it and colored it in with prismacolor pencils, including the bird. I cut it out using a Spellbinders die and an out of the box technique and distressed the edges with memento London fog ink. The base cardstock is a grayish kraft color and I ran it through a wood grain texture folder and then highlighted it with London fog gray also. I added some silver pearl drops with a tulip fabric paint pen and that was it. I needed some guy cards and this stamp is perfect for the menfolk.
I am joining up with this weeks challenge over at the Cornish Heritage Farms blog - the challenge is for 'summer' and I love to go hiking in the summer (course not too many hills near me these days, I still go out hiking in the woods whenever I can)Check out the challenge here - http://cornishheritagefarms.blogspot.com/
All for this am - not sure what the day has in store here, the DH and I went for our morning walk and once I get a shower I will head off to the craft room for a bit.....

Map hike
Hallo,
A hot and sunny day here but just a few miles north - rain like crazy. My DH went out on a run with the Harley and I almost went with him today and ended up glad I did not - He got rained on BIG TIME!!! Sure makes for a hard ride - poor guy!!
Well todays card is for the current challenge over at Cornish Heritage Farms blog and it is for 'summer' which in most places I have lived that means summer(course here in NW Florida some of our better hiking weather is really in the winter)
Check out the challenge here - http://cornishheritagefarms.blogspot.com/
I haven't pulled out my CHF stamps in awhile and I was missing them - this one is from old CHF and I am not sure if they have it up on the new site yet....
This card was really simple as I just stamped the image onto map DP and layered it to red both layers cut with Spellbinders dies and then another layer of the same DP and added accents with a bronze Viva Décor pen.
All for today - going to jump in the pool and see if we get thundered out or not.....still seems to be hanging up north.....
Have a great weekend!!!

Christmas cards
Hallo,
Well after a nice long nap, I am up and movin'...a bit slow and foggily yet but movin :) Checking out the weather channel as when I went to bed this morning it was sposed to rain but no rain yet....if it holds off I am going to head out to the pool for a bit,,,,
Meanwhile I will show you a couple cards I did for one for the challenges over at Stamp TV - the challenge was for Christmas theme and I used some clear acetate as I was kinda on a roll with that style earlier in the week.
I stamped the phrases (both are from retired sets I believe) onto the acetate with gold embossing powder.
On the second card I stamped the lamp post onto DP and colored in the lantern.
Then I used gold pearl drops from a viva décor pen to add the gold accents.
All for today - Take Care

Message, Testimony, Triumph, Victory
Hallo,
Another rainy day in NW Florida - I haven't seen this rainy of a summer in at least 5 to 6 years, but we have needed to catch up I guess and it does make for good sleeping weather too :) (which I am fixin to do after working all night :)
I did this card for the current Tuesday challenge over at Flourishes which is 'seeing clearly' to use some clear acetate on your card. I used the design from the sample card again.
Check out the challenge here - www.flourishes.org/blog/
The phrase is from Gina K and the pretty scene is from Flourishes which I colored with prismacolor pencils.
All for this morning - off to sleep with thunder and rainy lullabies :)

Get wonderfully lost
Hallo,
It's my Monday - have to work tonight so need to get a few errands done this am. Puppy and I have already had our walk so a quick post and off I GO :)
The current Tuesday challenge over at Flourishes is 'seeing clearly' - to use acetate somewhere on your card.
For my card I loved the sample card with the acetate as the front and the scalloped top so I did one similar.
I used 2 of my newest stamp sets from Flourishes. I embossed the phrase onto the acetate with black embossing powder and then stamped the scene onto the grayish/tan cardstock and colored it with prismacolor pencils. As hot as it was yesterday, I was in a fall mood, so I colored the scene in fall colors.
Check out the challenge over at Flourishes here - www.flourishes.org/blog/ - play along and you could win the entire months release (and its looking like another winner!!!)
Alrighty better get a move on and get some errrands done!!!
Have a great day!!!

Hallo,
Welcome to another Gina K CSS hop - this time we are all using this great sketch and using sets from December 2012 through May 2013
I just squeezed some mula outta the budget and got a couple sets I have been wanting - the set I used today is 'Posterboard Sentiments' from Gina K of course.
If you are following along the hop then you came from Miesje http://miesdf.blogspot.com/2013/07/css-sketch-blog-hop-7-9-2013.html and I am sure she had some great inspiration for you!!
I am last on the list this time around so just make sure you leave some sweet comments along the way because we will be drawing a random winner of a grab bag of Gina K products - check for the announcement on Tuesday the 16th.
As usual I couldn't decide what colors I wanted to use so I ended up with 2 cards - I love how you can get such different looks with the same sketch !!!
The base cardstock for both of my cards is Gina K pure luxury - sweet corn.
For the first card I turned the sketch a bit. I cut the top 2 layers with Spellbinders dies and added some pearl drops with a viva décor pen and added a charm from my stash - I added 2 ribbons one is yellow to match the base cardstock (it looks darker here though...) and one that had the blue and green in it.
For the second card I used the same dies and did a bit more distressing to the edges and curled 2 of the corners. I used the yellow ribbon again with a similar ribbon to the first card only different colors. I also used a viva décor pen too and a corner charm.
All for tonight - hope you enjoyed our hop!!!
Take Care
Tera
