Deep sea treasures

 Hallo,
This altered cigar box is a joint project between my craft room and my studio art space.
This cigar box had an indention on the lid that I wanted to do some type of painting in so I first painted the box black and then the top I coated with white gesso(except the edges which I did black).
Next I used alcohol inks and made a seascape in blue, turquoise and purple. Then I started gluing on seashells into the corner.
I used resin and covered the  alcohol ink and part way up the shells - and used a brush to seal the tops of the seashells with resin also.
On the inside of the box lid I glued a digital image from Selina Fenech that I had colored with polychrome pencils. and then lined the bottom and the edges of the image with different shades of blue/blue green and turquoise rhinestones.
I really like how it turned out.
I have a couple more wooden boxes that I got at A.C. Moore that I am going to do something similar with also - but I am thinking encaustic instead of alcohol inks for the next one.
All for today - Take Care

Fairy Princess

 Hallo,
A quick morning post as the hubby and I are headed for Biloxi for the night to see Pat Benatar in concert!!!! She always puts on a great show!!! (my DS will be home for the weekend to keep the pups company :)
I finished this picture earlier this week. I started with this beautiful digital image from Selina Fenech which I colored with polychrome pencils onto 'cryogen white ' cardstock.(from Paper Temptress)
I cut her out using a die but leaving her wings and the lily pad outside the edges. I layered her to 'silver ore glimmer cardstock' and then to an over lay called 'silver bohemian by Hambley' and more of the silver ore glimmer behind that - all are from Paper Temptress.
I used a bunch of flowers for accents - the 2 smallest ones I left white and one down in the bottom right corner was already a pretty blue - the rest were white to start with and I sprayed them with turquoise glimmer mist . I added her crown from my stash with a rhinestone at the top added to match her wings and a couple flat backed faux pearls for good measure!!!
She was mounted onto a canvas board and framed - 11 by 14 inches.
All for now - gotta get a move on this am...

Fairy Valentine

Hallo,
Well I have managed to clean house, run some errands, edit some pictures and take a nap today..... Oh I so wanted to sleep longer , but I guess if I did I would not have slept tonight.....
This card was meant for my Hubby for Valentines day but I didn't get it done in time.....
The image is by Selina  Fenech from her grayscale coloring book and I colored it with polychrome pencils.
The cardstock is all from Paper Temptress - cryogen white of course for the image and then red columns for the base cardstock. The 2 corner pieces are made from clay and then a matching pretty gray ribbon with some faux pearls.
All for now but another post in a few minutes....

Mermaid

    Hallo,
It is Friday ya'll!!!! I dragged myself outta bed for a walk with the pups this morning bright and early ( 630) they had fun - we have had so much rain that all the neighbor hood containment ponds were full so I let them get in the water and play for a bit at each one. My big boy was so happy - and even my princess got in and swam. Burned off some of their extra energy they have been saving - its been raining for days and they haven't had their usual walks, got a couple little ones but rain, rain, rain.....
Todays project is one of my first playing with the cold wax and oils. The image is a digital from Selina Fenech and I enlarged her to fit the 8 by 10  inch paper and then painted her.
I really like how she turned out!!! She took me a long time.
All for today - was sposed to do some cleaning today before work but just donot feel like it.....
  Have a great weekend!!!

Miss Coral

Hallo,
I have another encaustic wax piece to show you on this hot and steamy florida morning.
The last time I did this mermaid I did her in gold and this time I did her up in coral colors.
I started with another oceany background in encaustic wax and did a photo transfer of the ship, which is an image from Sweet Pea Stamps called 'The Pearl' by Teresa Sherman.
The mermaid is by Selina Fenech and I colored her with prismacolor and polychrome pencils and then embedded her into the wax.
I layered over the ship and mermaid with some plain wax and on the mermaid with some white and blue to look like the water .
Off to lunch with my DD and then maybe some time later today in the pool.
  Have a great day!!!!
