Steampunk Mermaid box

 Hallo,
Well it has been a busy few weeks here - getting all the paperwork in order for my new job at the hospital on base (military security clearances and all the other usual Nursing stuff)
The weather has been nice and cool in the morning so the pups have been getting long walks and I have managed to get a bunch of yard work done.
Enjoying not having to work the weekends and spending a bit more time with the hubby.....
Anyhow - not as much getting done in the craft room but I managed to finish this one off today.
I altered a cigar box with all kinds of pretties and this AWESOME image from Sweet Pea Stamps artist Teresa Sherman called 'Steampunk Mermaid"
I covered the sides and top with pretty, nautical steampunkish paper and edged them with copper metallic pen.
I added an old drawer pull (spray painted black) as a handle to open the box and some other old drawer pulls for the 'feet' on the box.
I lined the inside bottom with felt and the top of the lid with more paper and some bronze sticker embellishment from my stash.
For the main image I colored her with prismacolor and polychrome pencils and edged her panel with copper metallic pen also.
Then I went a bit nuts with pretties - the black corner piece was done with clay in a mold, a silver metallic flower, and in the opposite corner a metal compass piece with a small clay 'pearl' and a rhinestone. And the last pile of pretties is several 'gears' made from clay with a mold, a seashell decoupaged with a clock patterned paper, a metal gear, a metal turtle and lastly a blue ceramic divers helmut that came in the last box of 'red rose tea' that I opened.
And as if that wasn't enough I had these cute little bottles and I wanted to use one so I added some gold beads inside it and tied it to the handle with a silver tie.
Me thinks I couldn't have added another thing .......but I do like how it turned out!!!
All for today - tons of other projects both house, yard and craft room to get working on....

Handsome knights

Hallo,
Hot, Hot, Hot......man this is getting old and boy does it feel good to walk into the AC after taking the pups for a walk.....
Speaking of hot - how about this image from Teresa Sherman called 'Dashing Knight' - he's kinda hot himself dontcha think!!!
I colored up 2 versions as I often do - used prismacolor and polychrome pencils.
I layered the main image to a gold shimmery cardstock and edged both layers with gold metallic pen and then added some gold corner stickers.
I used cool grays on the armor in the front, along with some copper and the armor in the back I used warm grays and touches of gold on the chain mail.
All for today - determined to get some time to play in my studio today....

Gorgeous Guinevere

Hallo,
Well it has been crazy busy for me lately - one kiddo back off to school in Tallahassee and my DD and I leave on Thursday am to drive her back to college.
I am in the process of switching jobs which is always fun - change is a good thing even if it has to knock you upside the head to effect the change.....
And it has been HOT and HUMID here in NW Florida - the other morning at 715 am when we took the pups for a walk it was already a heat index of 100 degree's - I am so looking forward to a few days in Wyoming at my brothers place in the mountains - cool and low humidity - It will be hard to come back to the heat!!!
Two more cards in my reading card set that I am doing - 2 versions of the same image by Teresa Sherman at Sweet Pea Stamps. She is called 'Gorgeous Guinevere'.
I colored both versions with prismacolor and polychrome pencils.
I layered the main image to a shimmery gold cardstock and edged both layers with gold metallic pen and then added some gold stickers too.
All for today - at least 3 or 4 things I should be doing.....now all I need is the energy and motivation to do them.....
   Take Care!!!!

Miss Coral

Hallo,
I have another encaustic wax piece to show you on this hot and steamy florida morning.
The last time I did this mermaid I did her in gold and this time I did her up in coral colors.
I started with another oceany background in encaustic wax and did a photo transfer of the ship, which is an image from Sweet Pea Stamps called 'The Pearl' by Teresa Sherman.
The mermaid is by Selina Fenech and I colored her with prismacolor and polychrome pencils and then embedded her into the wax.
I layered over the ship and mermaid with some plain wax and on the mermaid with some white and blue to look like the water .
Off to lunch with my DD and then maybe some time later today in the pool.
  Have a great day!!!!

Marina

Hallo,
Just a sweet little project to show you before I head off to work tonight.
This sweet little mermaid is from Sweet Pea Stamps by artist Teresa Sherman and is called 'Marina'
I colored her with a combination of prismacolor pencils and polychrome pencils - I like the skin tones in prismacolors better but love how you can get a finer and stronger tip with the polychromes - of course there are certain colors in each set that I like better and in this case its the 'corals' from the polychrome that I like a lot!!!
I layered her to a gold shimmery cardstock and edged both panels with gold metallic pen.
I added some touches of glitter and some gold stickers to finish her off.
The back of this 'reading card' is stamped and embossed with stamps from Papertrey Ink  .
It twas a busy day for me but I did mange to get in a nap before work - rainy, hot and windy outside today.

White Lepard

Hallo,
Well my day was a bit busy - got off work and took one cat to the vet (just checkup and shots) and then took the pups for a walk before trying to get a nap - got about an hour and 50 minutes before the Lowes guys (who was sposed to come at 1 pm) rang the doorbell at 1050 am - told him to come back at 1  but then couldn't get back to sleep....
So he comes back at 1 when the hubby was here too and between that and picking up cat from the vet and only less than 2 hours sleep I completely forgot I had made an appointment for a massage - so I missed that and I am sure they werenot happy with me!!!
Anyhow - I managed to do some much needed house cleaning - mainly because I knew if I sat down I would fall asleep - seem to have gotten a second wind now, for a bit anyhow....
Well showing you 2 more cards for the Tarot/reading card series both done with the same image from  Sweet Pea Stamps artist Teresa Sherman.
I colored both with prismacolor pencils and layered them to pretty shimmery gold cardstock and edged both panels with a gold metallic marker and then added some gold corner stickers.
The back is decorated with stamps embossed in black from Papertrey Ink!!
All for today - time to move again or I will be asleep :)

Dragonfairy

Hallo,
Showing you a sweet project today with one of my many favorite images from Sweet Pea Stamps.
The image is called 'Endless Love' by Teresa Sherman.
I colored the image with prismacolor pencils and cut it out with a Spellbinders die.
The next layer is a piece of encaustic art with blue and silver wax and I mounted it all to a piece of matt board and decorated it with silver faux pearls and silver stickers.
I used a bit of red ribbon I used to hang the picture with to match the red heart.
All for today as I am off to work again tonight.

Creatures - Sweet Pea Stampers Challenge

 Hallo,
Welcome to our first challenge for September which is for 'Creatures'
Sweet Pea Stamps has some really wonderful creatures and this one is one of my favorite - I love dragons, and Unicorns and well.......lotsa stuff :)
This Sweet Pea stamp is by Teresa Sherman and is called 'Endless Love'.
I colored the image with prismacolor pencils and then cut it out with a Spellbinders die. Then I started trying to find paper to match and decide what to do with my image....I came across my pile of encaustic wax pieces that I have been saving to do 'something' with and there was this blue and silver one that fit perfect so I decided to do a little wall art piece. I glued them to a black matt board and added silver beads and silver pearl drops with a viva décor pen - I added a bunch of tiny silver dots in her silver hair, along her wings and well lots of other places :)
Lastly I added a green ribbon that matched her dress to hang the piece with.
All for today - Have a great weekend!!!!
