Hallo,
It is a hot one in NW Florida today - temps about 98 with heat index at about 105.
The pups took us for our morning walk about 7 am and it was already about 85 and no breeze, then I did about an hour of yard work and literally could wring out my shirt and pants, as well as my hair.
Needless to say I have spent the rest of the day inside the house - Did some cleaning, took and edited some photos, made a few cards in my craft room....
Todays project is an Owl I did and am really quite happy with how he turned out!!! He took me about a good 6/7 hours to paint ....
The base is encaustic wax and then I used cold wax to paint him.
He is 6 by 6 inches framed with a silver matting board in a 10 by 10 inch frame.
I will be doing a few more like this one eventually.
Have a great day!!!
Tera

Owl Journal - kraft challenge at Sweet Pea Stampers
Hallo,
Have you ever tried the kraft colored cardstock from Neenah called 'desert storm' - It is just wonderful to color on. I love how the skin tones look on kraft and the 'desert storm' is nice and sooth and easy to color on!!!
So for the 'kraft' challenge this week over at Sweet Pea Stampers I started with this beautiful image from Sweet Pea Stamps called 'Silentness'(owl version) by Elaine Cox
and printed her onto the 'desert storm' cardstock. I colored her with prismacolor pencils.
I layered her to some kraft core - coordinations paper that was embossed with a texture folder and sanded off.
The base layer on this journal is normal kraft cardstock that I embossed with the same folder as the middle layer and inked the texture with gray ink.
I edged the main layer and the journal layer with silver metallic ink and added some pearl drops with a silver fabric paint pen from tulip and added some white feathers too.
You can find this great image as both a rubber stamp and digital image here - www.sweetpeastamps.com - below is a coupon good through this weekend!!!! :) Sweetness!!!
Join us and play in our challenge this time and you could win some free images from Sweet Pea Stamps :)
All for me today - Take Care!!!

Owl friendship
Hallo,
Well it is Monday and it sure feels like a Monday - I guess I will get my nap early today. I really shouldn't be tired after having the weekend off but I didn't sleep well last night and I need a nap before working tonight anyhow....
Puppy took me for a long walk out on base this morning. It has been over a week since we went and she was rowdy. We had company in the fields today as a military group was out there doing an exercise but they said they were doing anything 'too crazy' and gave me the thumbs up to head out. We met up with them again about half way through our walk - Kyna had scared up a deer and was deep in the woods and then with the noise the boys were making (which really wasn't much) she had trouble finding me again....it was only about 10 minutes total but I was beginning to worry....it didn't phase her at all(she probably found a couple squirrels to chase on her way back from chasing the deer....)
Well today's card is for the current challenge over at Impression Obsession and calls for 'something to be thankful for' - I am Thankful for all the good friends in my life :)
I used the 'Owl be Thankful' set (#CL293) and 'CAC Scratches" (#CC044) - I used the cover a card for the background and 2 images from the Owl set and colored them with copics. I used an out-of-the-die technique for the owl and phrase and then partially colored another owl and popped up the tummy portion of the owl for a bit of dimension.
I cut both image panels out with Spellbinders dies and edged them with a bit of walnut stain distress ink.
Lastly I added some bronze colored pearl drops with a viva decor pen.

Have a great week!!!

Owl
Hallo,
Shades of blue for me today - I managed to drag myself into the craft room today but it felt very lonely without my sweet old meow at my feet ....doesn't help that I have one biggy of a sinus cold and headache(aches and nausea - that just a bit queasy feeling).....ah well....
I does help to get a bit creative as a bit of distraction anyhow....
I did this card for the current challenge over at the Impression Obsession blog which is for 'gift' - this card will go with a small gift I am going to take up to my vet and his assistant - they were so very sweet on Monday when I brought in my old meow for the last time (as they always are - and this is the second time in the last several months for me to bring one of my sweet ones to them for the last time - in August I had to let go of my old dog...)
I used one of my newer sets from IO - 'Owl be thankful' #CL293
Check out the challenge here - www.mitrafriant.typepad.com
I also used a Technique Junkie technique called 'Inky Bands' from the latest issue of TJ.
Well this will be all for me today - called in sick to work, going to try and head back to the craft room but might just try another nap, although the first one didnt do much good so its either wander around the house distractedly or see if I can focus on something in the craft room....boy I am just a ball of cheer today aren't I.....promise I won't be so gloomy tomorrow!!!!
Take Care
