Hallo,
A cold and rainy Saturday here in NW Florida but that all makes a great day to sleep which is what I did most of the day after work....
I finished off this box yesterday morning - and love how it turned out, all silver and sparkly.
That wonderful textured paper is from Paper Temptress (www.papertemptress.com) and the stamp is from Flourishes (www.flourishes.com)
All for today - time to get ready for work - #2 of 3....

IO Cardinals
Hallo,
One more card for the current challenge over at the Impression Obsession blog - the challenge this time is 'simple'.
Check out the challenge here - www.mitrafriant.typepad.com
I used the IO stamp 'Cardinals by Window' (#F1929) again and stamped it onto kraft cardstock and colored it with koh-I-noor pencils - I colored it rather lightly - headed for a faded more vintage look and then did some distressing on the layers.
All for my tonight - starting my long weekend to work - 3 12 hour night shifts in a row - bleh.....I rarely do 3 in a row anymore so not looking forward to it!!!
Have a great weekend!!!

Simply winter
Hallo,
How was everyone's Christmas??
We had a very nice mellow day - slept late, the kiddos slept later, late breakfast and open gifts and then an early afternoon turkey dinner with the fixins....It feels good to have both my kiddos in the house again, even for just a couple weeks.
DS spent the rest of the day between video games and videos and DD was watching a '24' marathon and I was watching with her and working on my newest locker hook rug (its a smaller version of the one in the photo at the bottom- DD requested it :)
I did take a bit of time in the craft room - trying to get all my stamping and demo boards done for the class I am teaching starting in January....and wound up with another simple card for the current challenge over at Impression Obsession blog - www.mitrafriant.typepad.com
I recently got this stamp from IO - called 'Cardinals by window' #F1929 and I stamped it in red onto Neenah desert storm craft colored cardstock, simple layers with some DP and a bit of ribbon and twine and finally topped off with some pearl drops with a bronze viva décor pen - took me all of about 10 minutes :) and its such a pretty stamp for a vintage looking card.
My DD and I went for a walk and then to the gym, and after some computer time here I am headed back to the craft room - DS is back in his room with the videos games (after I so meanly made him rake some leaves for me) and DD is watching NCIS marathon :) (with her chores yet to do....) DH had to work today...I work the weekend starting tomorrow night....
The last picture BTW is the rug I finished off a week or so ago for myself - it is 36 by 60 inches...took me about 2 and 1/2 months worth of evening couch time with the DH watching TV.
Have a great weekend!!!

Simple IO
Hallo,
A few quick and simple cards to show you today that I did for the current challenge over at the Impression Obsession blog - www.mitrafriant.typepad.com
The stamp I used is 'Wild sweetheart rose' #H8889.
For the first and third cards I stamped it using burgundy ink and added a matching ribbon and bow.
On the first I edged the main panel with the same ink and added some matching rhinestones and the third I edged it with gold metallic pen and just added one rhinestone.
For the second card I used burgundy cardstock and edged the main panel with the burgundy ink and stamped the rose once too, then I stamped and embossed the rose in white embossing powder and added some pearl drops with a viva décor pen and the matching ribbon/bow again.
All for now as I am off to work for the evening and then tomorrow is for sleep and baking :)
Merry Christmas everyone!!!!

Sunshine and tulips
Hallo,
A cool and rainy morning here in NW Florida - had pretty good thunder boomers last night which I love!!!
I got in a lot of craft room time yesterday and hope for a bit more today (after a couple errands :)
One more card for the current challenge over at Flourishes - this time it is to use some vellum. Check out the challenge here - www.flourishes.org/blog/
Both stamps are from Flourishes and the main image is colored with Koh-I-Noor pencils. I used some OMS and blended the background a bit...
I used a Spellbinders label die to cut out the image and edged it with brown ink and embossed the phrase onto the vellum with white embossing powder. Lastly I used a Viva Décor pearl pen for the pearl drops in bronze - I use the bronze one ALOT!!! - just love the color....
All for this am - Take Care

Bringing sunshine
Hallo,
Another murky day here in NW Florida with a bit of rain here and there - and along with not sleeping well last night (due to the neighbors behind us having a party and being very loud until the wee hours of the morning) I have been sleepy too.
We didn't do much today - went out for lunch down by the beach - much as the beach and sunshine go together, sometimes the beach is pretty cool in the fog, and the waves were pretty good today too. After lunch I headed back to my craft room and squared away most of class number 2 for my "Coloring for cardmakers" class that I am teaching in January. I am teaching with the local Adult learning organization here in town which is all volunteer - they offer a really good variety of classes from cardmaking, beading, knitting, to genealogy, comparative religions, politics, finances, computer, painting and even a skeet shooting class , so its kinda fun.
DD was catching up with some friends here in town and DS was playing video games....I did this card for the current challenge over at Flourishes - which is to use vellum - check it out here - www.flourishes.org/blog/
I colored this sweet Flourishes image with Koh-I-Noor pencils and blended the background a bit with OMS. The phrase is also from Flourishes - embossed in white on the vellum.
All for today - Take Care

Star of Bethlehem
Hallo,
Short post - kinda a lay around and play in the craft room kinda day here....foggy, muggy and sposed to rain this evening here in NW Florida.
Lunch time saw my DD and I downtown looking around a local craft fair (very small) and some of the downtown shops and then had lunch with the DH and DS - DS was late joining us so I had him bring my spoiled puppy and we took her out and about at the craft fair - she LOVES being around all those people and other dogs too.
I managed to get a few things done in my craft room - this card for a challenge over at Flourishes and pretty much finished off the first batch for my card coloring class that starts in January.
I did this card with one of my newest sets from Flourishes - called 'Star of Bethlehem' - the blue and the silver cardstock are both shimmery and glittery so this card is much prettier IRL - very hard to get a good picture with our blah, foggy day here....
Both the silver and blue pretty papers are from 'Paper Temptress' - she has a TON of beautiful papers - check it out here www.papertemptress.com
Check out the challenge over at Flourishes here - www.flourishes.org/blog/

Christmas Lantern
Hallo,
Well Christmas is getting close and I do believe I have everything done - that's going to get done anyway.
Our new challenge over at Sweet Pea Stampers is 'Christmas' and I just love this stamp from Katerina Koukiotis called 'Home for the Holidays'
I colored her with prismacolor pencils and did her up a bit different than I usually do - I usually do her cape in red with brown hair but wanted a gold cape this time. I thought the red hair was a good match too - she is such a sweet image.
Make sure to check out what the rest of the Design Team is up to - lots of great Christmas images from Sweet Pea Stamps!!!
www.sweetpeastampers.blogspot.co.uk/
I worked the last 2 nights and today after taking the puppy for a walk and a bit of sleep - I am hoping to go with my kids (and maybe the DH) to see the new 'Hobbit ' movie - my DS has already seen it and says its the best one yet and that says alot!!!
All for now - Have a great weekend and if I don't get back in here before Christmas - Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year too!!!

Last StampTV CSS blog hop
Hallo,
Its kinda a sad day for me as this is our last Gina K CSS blog hop and our last event as a 'formal' group. I have gotten to know these wonderful ladies and have had so much fun on our blog hops!!!!
This time around we are using the photo above for inspiration.
If you are following the hop then you came to me from the very talented Miesje - http://miesdf.blogspot.com/2013/12/css-december-inspiration-blog-hop.html
Remember to leave sweet comments along the way because we will be giving away a big grab bag of Gina K Designs product to one random commenter.
For my card I used Melanie's 'Holiday Baskets' set and colored it up with my copics - then I colored over the red, gold and green with spica glitter pens (although it doesn't show well.)
I cut the layers with Spellbinders dies and used red glitter paper behind the main image and sparkly green sequin ribbon , gold metallic pen and the base cardstock is a shimmery green too.
Although it is sad that this is our last blog hop we do have plans to start our own 'informal' little group :) and a happiness for me today is that my Daughter got home from her first semester in college today :) - she immediately changed clothes to shorts and flip flops :) - although its a bit coolo for that for me she has been in Nebraska and gotten used to colder :)
Now I will send you on your way to the next stop on our hop - Vicki - http://allidoisstamp.blogspot.com/2013/12/last-stamp-tv-css-hop.html and I am sure she has some sweetness to show you!!!
Take Care and have a great week!!!

Glitter Snowflake
Hallo,
My second post for the day - trying to catch up on a challenge or 2 and this one is for the current one over at Impression Obsession and is for 'snow'. Check out the challenge here - www.mitrafriant.typepad.com
I just got the snowflake die from IO this week and I must say that I am impressed how detailed it is - I didn't realize when I ordered it that it had so many layers but it is very cool!!!
I cut out the snow flake from a pretty paper from Paper Temptress called 'vintage silver luster' which is a white with silver shimmer and swirls to it.
Once I cut out the snowflake from IO, I took a couple of the layers and attached them to sticker paper and then covered the rest of the sticky side with teal glitter. Then I covered that with a clear laminating sheet and added pearl drops with a viva décor pen in teal and edged the panel with silver metallic pen.
The base cardstock is another beautiful paper from Paper Temptress called - 'silver pearl linen' and I used the teal pearl drops again.
It all makes for a really shimmery and glittery card that doesn't show up near as well in my photos.
The last couple photos show my Christmas cactus - he is blooming right on time :)
Have a good night!!!

Weddings and Family
Hallo,
Well the current Tuesday challenge over at Flourishes is to chose a word or image that represents one of your goals and to inspire you in the new year.
Check out the challenge here - www.flourishes.org/blog/
I chose this wedding image because weddings are a time to get together with family and friends and since we live so far from most of our families that the few times we can all be together are even more special. One of my goals for the new year will be to make and send more cards for all occasions and for no reason whatsoever as a way of keeping in touch better, and to take any opportunity to treasure family moments (even more important with one of my kiddos away at college and number 2 will be off to college this year too).
I did this wedding keepsake box for a friend to give to her daughter that is getting married. I love when I can make one of these box and book combos specially made to match their colors and style and loved how this one turned out!!!
All the stamps are from Flourishes - the wedding couple embossed in white and the 'sunflowers' are from the gerber daisy set colored to look like sunflowers that the bride is using for her flowers. I fussy cut the flowers out and arranged them how I wanted them.
I made the 6 by 6 memory book to match and is ready for the wedding couple to just add their own pictures.
Well now that I have warmed up a bit - got home from work just as the DH and my princess of a puppy were headed out for a walk - and the wind was very brisk and very COLD this morning!!! - It is time for me to head to bed to sleep....
Have a great weekend everyone!!

Swingin kitty
Hallo,
A warm, muggy and rainy day here in NW Florida and I have managed to put together about 25 Christmas cards - they should be the last on my send out list and then I will make a few more for local giving :).
This last batch was done pretty simply - I used my cut-tuck and fold dies from Spellbinders and some new paper from Tim Holtz that has pretty colors on one side and kraft cardstock on the back so it made a nice contrast....backed them to Christmas DP and added ribbon for 'hangers' and done. I probably wont get pics of them due to the rain but they will go in the mail on Monday.
Todays card is another stamp from Stamps Happen and this pretty much shows what my kitties would love to do with the tree and lights :) - and the puppy too BTW. I have to keep a water spray bottle handy this time of the year :)
This is colored with prismacolor pencils and accented with a viva décor pen in gold .
Well all for me today - heading off for my pre-nightshift nap here in a couple minutes....
Have a great weekend!!!

Meow Lights
Hallo,
After staying up all day yesterday with no sleep - my butt is dragging today but I have one last craft fair today and hope I can give my sad little craft budget a lift :)
Todays card started with this cute stamp from Stamps Happen and is colored with prismacolor pencils. The image is pretty good sized so I didn't do much in the way of layers and let the sweet image be the end all to be all so to speak :)
Have a great day!!!
