SUNSHINE and flowers!!!

 Hallo,
Well after 2 days of HEAVY rain and some of the most incredible thunderstorms I have ever seen - the light and sound effects were unbelievable and the storms just went on and on and on - 10 - 12 hours worth - totally amazing!!!,  I was disappointed that I was at work those 2 nights because our windows  at work are blocked by a nearby wall and we are tucked away on the first floor and can hardly hear anything (I made sure to pop out to the side windows a couple times just to get a look) - Today we got a bit of sunshine before another batch of cloudiness set in.
My clematis are blooming really nice this year so I quickly ran out into the soggy, puddled yard and took a whole bunch of pictures. This first picture is my favorite of the day :)
I am cleaning house today and running a couple errands and hanging out with my boys - DS is out of school today and tomorrow due to flooded roads in the area and the DH is off work for the same reason but I should make it to the craft room tomorrow to finish off a few projects to show you soon :)

Sweet Pea Stampers - Birthday challenge

Hallo,
Welcome to another challenge from the Sweet Pea Stampers - this time our theme is Birthday. I kinda stretched the theme a bit here and made a BIRTH day gift :)
I love to alter cigar boxes (and other boxes that catch my eye...)
This one is a gift box that holds a matching memory book and I also include a card for giving.
The main image is from Sweet Pea Stamps by Conie Fong and is called 'Mother and baby girl'.
I colored her with prismacolor pencils and cut her out with Spellbinders dies. I added some ribbons and some dots with a pink fabric paint by tulip, and the edges were done with a gold metallic pen from Krylon.
I cover the outside of the box, inside lid and the memory book with matching papers and lined the bottom of the box with felt.
All for today - Have a great weekend!!!

Pirate Mermaid briefcase

 Hallo,
I have another briefcase to show you today. I used stamps from Sweet Pea Stamps of course - a couple Pirate Mermaids by Ching Chou Kuik - the first one is called 'Unregrettable Pirate Life' and the second is 'Caribbean Treasure'
I colored them both with prismacolor pencils and used Spellbinders dies to cut them out and the fancy layer underneath too.
I covered the front and back of the briefcase with pretty paper and then added the images and some bling - rhinestones, faux pearls, some pretty old buttons and some gold beads.
Don't for get about the Anniversary sale going on over at Sweet Pea Stamps - use the codes above and get you some Sweet Peas of your very own!!!

Mermaid baby gift box and memory book

 Hallo,
Boy am I sleepy this afternoon....didn't sleep well last night and too much to get done today. I made the 1 and 1/2 hour drive - each way - to add a couple treasures to mu booth at a lovely Hand made craft market in Panama City - and the drive home was tough!!! I took my sweet Kyna (my puppy) along with me today. She loves car rides but have never been on one that long before and she was so good!!!
I made up this gift box using a stamp from Sweet Pea Stamps called 'Aloha' by Ching Chou Kuik.
I colored her 3 times - one for the box, one for the memory book and one for the card.
I covered a sturdy box with pretty papers, added some ribbons and flowers and some pearl drops in teal with a viva décor pen.
The front of the box has a magnetic closure and I used some of the same ribbons to act as a pull to open it up.
All for me today - got to get a small suitcase packed as I am flying out in the am to Nebraska to visit my Daughter. Her college ROTC has their awards night and parents day on Thursday so we will spend a couple days together and I will be back in town on Saturday. (I have pre-posted for tomorrow and Friday so be sure to stop back!!!

Mermaid Briefcase

Hallo,
I finished off this cool briefcase yesterday using 2 mermaid images from Sweet Pea Stamps - they have them both in digital and rubber stamp form.
Check them out here - www.sweetpeastamps.com
The first one is by Norma J Burnell called 'Rayne' and the second is called 'Kiara' by Elaine Cox.
I took a used, but still in good shape briefcase and covered the front and back with some pretty ocean looking paper.
Both the images were colored with prismacolor pencils and cut out with Spellbinders dies. I glued the layered images down along with some seashells, charms and some seed beads. To do all the gluing I used a artis....t matte gel that works similar to modge podge only better. I used it because I ran out of modge podge and discovered that I  like it a lot better. The gel is a bit more expensive but it is easier to work with and dries a bit quicker and smoother than the modge podge....
All for this am - worked last night so its time for some sleep now :)

Springs glads

 Hallo,
Sunday morning, pre-posting as I fully plan to sleep in :)
My card today features a stamp from Papertrey Ink. I stamped it onto watercolor paper with white embossing powder (clear powder works too, the white will show up a bit 'whiter' sometimes :)
I then used watercolor paints to color it in - I like the effect of the white lines.
I cut the image out with a Spellbinders die and edged it with Danube blue ink from memento and then layered it to 2 ribbons onto blue cardstock.
I used purple fabric paint from tulip for the dots - one of the top ones was a bit too goopy and got smudged a bit ( the Viva décor pens do a better job and dry faster  than the fabric paint too,  but I was trying to save $$ and the fabric paint is less expensive - honestly once it is used up, I wont be using it anymore.....)
All for today - Hope you are having a great weekend!!!!

For every tear....

 Hallo,
Just a quick post this am - headed for a nap after work and then maybe lunch with my boys (DH and DS).
I lost one of my Uncles last week and this is the card I sent to my Aunt and the family. Really wanted to be home for them but I guess that is one of the big disadvantages to living so far from the rest of the family......
The flowers are from Flourishes - stamped onto watercolor paper with ink and then I used Koh-I-Noor watercolors to paint them.
The phrase is from Prickley Pear - embossed in black.
I cut the main panel with a Spellbinders die and edged it with a silver metallic pen and added some silver drops with a tulip fabric paint pen.
All for me this am - nap, lunch, then yard work and craft room - maybe some house work but as it is sposed to rain on Monday - I will probably wait till then and get the yard work done :)
   Have a great weekend!!!

Kiara by Elaine Cox

Hallo,
Its challenge day again at Sweet Pea Stampers challenge blog and our theme this time is Mermaids - and how easy is that, it is after all one of the main reasons I LOVE my Sweet Pea stamps!!!!
Check out our challenge here - http://thesweetpeastampers.blogspot.co.uk/

Check out all the mermaids, fairies and other wonderful stamps here - http://sweetpeastamps.com/
Todays project is an altered journal. The main image is a stamp from Sweet Pea Stamps called Kiara by Elaine Cox (she is also available as a digi image) and I colored her with koh-I-noor pencils.
I covered the journal with some beautiful oceany looking handmade paper and then added the main image - cut out with a Spellbinders die and edged in gold metallic pen.
Then I got out one of my favorites - a pearl viva décor pen and added some pearls to her hair and the 'water' around her along with some real seashells from my stash.
All for me today - Hope to see you - if you join in the challenge and play with us you could win free Sweet Pea images - and if you use a Sweet Pea image for your entry you will have double the chance to win!!!
   Have a great day!!

(©Karen Middleton's 'Sunny Chick', colored in by design team member Jane)

 Hallo,
Well my baby boy and my youngest turns 18 today - he graduates from High School in just over a month and next fall my house is going to be a very quiet place!!!
I am very proud of my young man - not only is he smart and good looking (which he had no control over) but he is honest, hard working (for the most part - after all he is a teenager :) and he is strong both physically and mentally and has a good heart which he does have control of!!
  Happy Birthday Jack!!!!

Well todays project is one of 2 baby gift boxes I finished off this morning - showing you the boy one today - naturally!!!
I take a box - usually an old cigar box and cover it with scrapbook papers and also cover a 6 by 6 inch chipboard album with matching papers and then decorate it with stamps, ribbons and whatever I feel like and matches the 'theme'
The main image on this box is from Sweet Pea Stamps - 'Mother and baby boy' by Conie Fong and is colored with prismacolor pencils. I colored her up 3 times - one for the box, one for the book and one for a matching card.
I cut the main image and the next layer out with Spellbinders dies and the brown layer was cut from a craft core cardstock, embossed and sanded off. I edged the main layer with a gold metallic pen.
I added a couple matching ribbons and some dots made with tulip fabric paint - and added a ribbon to the lid to make it easier to lift the lid.
The papers are all denim looking and some browns and I edged them all with walnut stain ink.

Be sure to stop by Sweet Pea Stamps as they have a great sale on digi's right now!!! Check it out here - www.sweetpeastamps.com
And check out the Sweet Pea stamps challenge blog to win stamps - One Sweet Challenge - www.onesweetchallenge.blogspot.com
And for even more chances to win free Sweet Peas - Sweet Pea Stampers - www.thesweetpeastampers.blogspot.co.uk

All for me today - have some catching up to do in the craft room and on the computer and then a nap and then off to work for the night!!!
  Have a great day!!!
