Strike a pose

Hallo,
  Well I managed to get some house cleaning done yesterday after work - I really would rather do about anything than house work, even pull weeds(only not putting myself into heatstroke to do it...as I would have yesterday or really about any afternoon lately....)
   My hubby brought home this interesting chunk of metal intending to take it to the metal recycling center but I saw it and wanted to do something with it and this is what I came up with.
  The mannequin is a chipboard form from Michaels that I sprayed with a gold glimmer spray and then added 2 shades of rust paint onto it.
  The 'belt' used to be an old bracelet (found it at a thrift shop), the pendant is from a mold and is clay in a pretty cameo.
  I sprayed the chunk of metal - which by the way is a dough mixer from a restaurant sized  bread mixer - with black spray paint and added a bit of gold rub on.....
  There is a clay piece in gold from a mold on her back and matching ones in black on the base .

Mermaid Briefcase

Hallo,
  I finished off this cool briefcase yesterday using 2 mermaid images from Sweet Pea Stamps - they have them both in digital and rubber stamp form.

  The first one is by Norma J Burnell called 'Rayne' and the second is called 'Kiara' by Elaine Cox.
  I took a used, but still in good shape briefcase and covered the front and back with some pretty ocean looking paper.
  Both the images were colored with prismacolor pencils and cut out with Spellbinders dies. I glued the layered images down along with some seashells, charms and some seed beads. To do all the gluing I used a artis....t matte gel that works similar to modge podge only better. I used it because I ran out of modge podge and discovered that I  like it a lot better. The gel is a bit more expensive but it is easier to work with and dries a bit quicker and smoother than the modge podge....
   All for this am - worked last night so its time for some sleep now :)

A prayer of Thanks

Hallo,
  Another shaped project for you today for the current challenge over at Flourishes. I decided to make a little hanging plaque today and took a couple pieces of chipboard and cut them and paper to cover them, and the other layers all with Spellbinders dies.

  I first stamped the 'anemones' from Flourishes once in black memento ink and once to either side with memento London fog(gray) and then colored them with koh-i-noor pencils and then stamped and embossed the phrase from Prickley Pear over the top.
  I edged the middle blue panel with gold metallic paint and edged the other 2 panels with blue ink and added a matching blue ribbon.
  Well we had the good luck of my DD being with us one more night - first her plane yesterday was delayed, then rescheduled and finally rescheduled from the airport in Pensacola - an hour away - and no connecting flight into Omaha last night so she opted to take a flight out today instead....the fog was pretty thick here yesterday but seems lighter this am so hopefully it all burns off by noon - good thing she doesn't really need to be back till sunday ( classes start again Monday...)
   All for this morning - I really do need to do some house work today - I still haven't taken my Christmas decorations down.....nasty head cold kicked into full force yesterday afternoon so we will see how much I can get done.....
   And then I work tonight....

Snowglobe

 Hallo,
   A little Christmas project for you today - working again tonight so gotta get this finished :)
  I did this for one of the release challenges over at Flourishes this week - check them out, you could win the entire release!!! www.flourishes.org/blog/
  This challenge was to make something for a child - well what kid doesn't love a Snowglobe!!!
   I used one of my new stamp sets  from Flourishes and colored it with copics - then added some stickles glitter to the snow and snowman. While that dried I worked on the frame. This was a thrift store frame that had a couple rough edges....so I roughed them up some more with some sandpaper and then used embossing ink and white powder to create more 'snow'. As I was putting it all together I really thought the frame needed something more so I added a silver mesh ribbon with a double bow blue ribbon on top and then a few blue rhinestones too.
   The phrase is from Flourishes also and both dies are Spellbinders.
   Ok all for today - here anyhow :)

Spoiled Kitty Cat

2 posts in one day - WOW - but I couldn't wait to show you this silly little cat bed that I made.
I had found this roundish barbie suitcase at a garage sale and decided it needed to be a cat bed - since it seems all cats love to get inside boxes and mine especially love suitcases.
This one however will go to my Etsy shop - my 2 young brats are waaayyy to big for this bed (porkers) and my sweey old meow has slept by my pillow for the last 20 years so thats not going to change anytime soon (I hope...).
I first covered the box with black coredinations paper that I used a dotted texture folder on and sanded off to show pink dots.
The images are from an Outlines Rubber Stamp - collage image, stamped several times and colored with copics. I then cut the colored stamped images apart and used then to decorate the top, sides and inside of the box.
The first picture is the top - at the bottom of the photo you can see the bracket with velcro I added to hold the lid open (that way it can be closed for shipping, storage or travel as needed).
The second pic is a close-up of the lid and the third shows the inside of the case.
I lined the bottom of the case with gray fur material and added some of the black/pink dotted paper around the inside of the lid and a couple decorations near the mirror.
I also added some rhinestone hearts in pink to the mirror.
I left the mesh pouch on the inside of the lid to hold kitty treats or toys :) And added a pink tassle (last picture) for kitty to play with too.
I added little 'feet' to the bottom of the box by using some drawer pulls so it sits up a little bit.
I am tickled pink :) with how this turned out - I will be adding it to my Etsy shop later this afternoon when I get up.

Barn Domino's

Quick post as I should really get some grub going for dinner....
I colored the main image sitting on the couch last night - I had planned on doing something domino style(TJ - technique) wise with it but my idea kinda grew as I went along and I ended up with this 8X10 picture. I like it even if its not quite like I envisioned.
I made the domino's with the main image and put chrystal effects on them to look glossy like real domino's - then I decided to layer them to faux metal technique - another TJ technique - to pull out the metal in the barn roof - then of course since the barn roof had some rust on it I layered them to a big piece of 'faux rusty metal' - yet another TJ technique.
Both faux metal and faux rusty metal were ran through the same cuttlebug folder.
I added a border punched with a MS punch and put it in a frame.
All for tonight - even if da kiddos aren't really hungry , DH will be when he gets home - so I 'd better get crackin'.....

Seashell plaque redo....

Hallo,
Just a short post this am as my bed is ever so sweetly calling me - with a hammer LOL - silly me - note to self, always get a nap before going to work night shift.
Remember this seashell plaque - well I liked it well enough but it felt like it still 'needed something'. I remembered some beads I had - you know the ones in the jar with the glue already mixed in - so I hunted and found the ones I had - only to find at least 2 of them had completely dried out (note to self - use supplies before they are no longer usable...)
These blue ones had just enough goo left so I edged the plaque with them and them edged the main image too.
I like how it turned out - just that little finishing touch and now it says he's done :)
I had this plaque done for over a month just sitting - finished it off a couple days ago.
All for now - off to bed...

Mani, Pedi MFT

I did this cute little box for this weeks SYTYCS challenge over in the My Favorite Things forum on Splitcoaststampers..... the challenge this week was 'Krumpin' - Bling and Shout!!!
This is a cigar box covered with Basic Grey paper that I have been hoarding - love this pack of paper (I need about 14 more!!!)
The set is from MFT - the 2 images on the top were colored with copics and a little white gel pen to make the robe look fuzzy - and I did a little paper piecing too. The black is a sticker strip which I added rhinestones to - and I added a rhinestone crown to the corner of one of the images too.
I colored and cut out the nail polish bottles and glued them to thin cardboard and then used alot of stickles glitter on them - I put some on the front and more on the inside lid.
Inside the box I put a nail kit, some salon style emory boards, and a pumice stone - all of which I decorated with matching papers, and a punch edged with gold mettalic pen and stamped with a phrases from the same set.
Coloring was done with copics, a little white gel pen, and some spica glitter pens. I also did some paper piecing on the main images.

Flourishes challenge

Whew - this last stetch of days at work has worn me out!!!!!! But now I have 8 - 8 -days off!!!!!
My Mom and my Step-Dad are coming to visit this week!!!!!
Anyway - I managed to get 2 seperate projects done today - and some errands.....
This project is for this weeks - FTTC challenge over at Flourishes - www.flourishesnewsletter.blogspot.com
The challenge was to make a gift box or bag - I started this project friday evening and finished it today - didn't get it done before I lost daylight so the photos aren't as good...
I had the idea for the plaque and then made the bag to match.
The base of the plaque and on the strips on the bag are kraft cardstock run through the cuttlebug and then swiped over it with white ink - edged it with silver metallic pen.
The main image is stamped onto a nestie label die and colored using 'Sepia Technique' from Technique Junkies. Then I pulled out my white diamond Stickles glitter and added it to the trees and snow on the ground and in the air.
The phrase is from the same Flourishes set stamped onto a spellbinders fancy tag, a gold ribbon, and a couple brown rhinestones.

Reindeer Plaques

Well Ida kinda missed us here - didn't even get much rain.....That's a good thing!!!!
I played around with some plaques I found at the Dollar tree a couple months ago. The backround on the first one is gray paper run through the cuttlebug snowflakes embossing folder and then swiped with white ink and edged with silver mettalic pen. Silver snowflake ribbon with silver edge next. Top layers are both cut with spellbinders dies in my cuttle bug and stamped with stamps from Flourishes.
The reindeer is colored with copics.
I did these for a challenge on the Flourishes blog - www.flourishesnewsletter.blogspot.com - our inspration was the 'my favorite things' song from the movie 'The Sound of Music' and the lines I chose were 'snowflakes that stick to nose and eyelashes' and 'silver white winters that turn into springs'
On this first one I added a tough of red stickles to the reindeers nose and to the tag.




The second plaque I used the snowflake folder on white cardstock and swiped it with blue ink, used blue ink to stamp the phrase and found a couple small blue rhinestones to add to the tag.
On both I traded out the string to hang it with for thin silver trim.
