Hallo,
Just dropping in for a quick post today before I head to work....I didn't get Christmas cards made to send out this year and horror of horrors had to send out store bought!!
The card I did this am was started last year at this time.....ah hem....yup...
The base for this card is a lovely 3D die cut from Accu Cut that was designed by my friend Vicki Chrisman as is the bow die on the front of the card. Really makes this kind of card easy to do!!!!
All the patterned cardstock on the inside is part of the die cut also.
The middle panel is highlighted by the front of one of last years Christmas cards that was too pretty to throw away - I cut the picture out of the card with a Spellbinders die.
Cutting already done from last year, all I had to do was fold, glue, tape and add pretty pretties too.
Have a Great day!!!

Coral Bubbles
Hallo,
Back with the color version of this weekends experiments with a new process from a video by Elizabeth Schowachert.
Lots of layers and I didn't take pictures of every layer .....first 3 , then the finished painting in several views and then 2 close ups.
I cant wait to get some more time to paint - lots of ideas cropping up in my noggin for this technique....
Have a great day!!!

Coral - black and white
Hallo,
Been Quite awhile since I have blogged anything - busy with Thanksgiving and Christmas and just painting whenever I had a chance.
Mid November the Hubby and I flew up to Fort Lee Virginia to see my daughter graduate from Quatermaster training school, and her boyfriend as well and got to meet the boyfriend for the first time.
Spent some time with friends that live close by as well which was a nice mini vaca - except for one little thing - I was walking at the airport, walking fast to get to the next gait on our way there and my knee popped and felt like someone put a knife through my kneecap.....
Knee is better but it has prompted me to look more seriously at the possibility of a knee replacement - gotta save up some PTO time first....
Next in line was Thanksgiving/Christmas week - My daughter was home and we had both Holidays in one as well as having Thanksgiving dinner at the new boyfriends Grandparents place - as they live only literally blocks from us.....
My daughter left on 28 Nov for her first military post in Vilsek Germany. She is doing well and having fun so far!!
My son will be home for Christmas!!!
And other than work, walking the pups and house cleaning there isn't too much else to tell.
So on to todays painting. I got myself an encaustic teaching video from Elizabeth Schowachert and this was a couple days playing with using her video(I did 2 paintings at once so as to allow them to cool a bit between layers - the other one I will show you tomorrow)
The pics go in order and I didn't take pictures of every step but this first one shows the texture, and the second one shows the added 'coral' and then last ones are with the 'orbs' and last touches in different views and 2 close ups.....
Its a fun process and I will be doing a few more!!!

Wedding gift box
Hallo,
Enjoying a holiday Monday off, loves the long weekends. Course we didn't do too much this weekend due to Nate raining and blowing on us Saturday night and all day Sunday but other than a ton of leaves and sticks in the pool no damage here. We didn't even loose power although some in our area did.(we just happen to be on the same power grid as the county sheriffs department - handy dontchsay :)
Showing you a wedding box I finished off yesterday for a friend from work who got married last weekend.
The paper I used for the digital image - from 'A day for daisies' is my old favorite, 'cryogen white'. Colored with prismacolor and polychrome pencils.
The base cardstock for the card, memory book cover and the top of the box is called 'silver luster' and is from Paper Temptress , as is the cryogen white. I also used a piece of vellum from Paper Temptress with a really nice shimmer to it, but I cannot remember the name of it.
I added some clay roses that I made using a mold and some ribbons and rhinestones, 2 rings with doves on them and a charm that says 'To love and cherish' on it.
The box is an old cigar box and it is big enough to hold both the book and the card.
All for today - gotta a few errands to run and maybe do some cleaning around the house.

Windows and layers
Hallo,
Called this one done late this last week - had the idea of a city billboard type area where a lot of noticed are posted and painted over and ect......didn't really turn out how I had envisioned but I like it, for now ...wont mess with it unless it tells me something more definite.....
I used some book pages from a book that was written it looks like as a Korean to English translation, an old calendar page of buildings in Italy and a page from an old Nat Geo of some girls from India with a picture of Gandhi in the background....
I painted with cold wax and oils and put the pictures in between the layers of wax and oil.
Still getting used to the cold wax - like the encaustic there are so many possibilities and not near enough time, but am lovin it!!!
All for today, Take Care

Rockin Baby
Hallo,
Well guess what I have to show you today - ANOTHER baby gift box set. This one is for some friends of my Hubbys - they have a karaoke business and are expecting their first child - a boy- and have chosen a rock and roll theme....
I used some music paper for the card and the top, inside and the front of the baby book and then the rest is an assortment of metallic papers.
The guitars are a die cut and I did them from smaller pieces of glittery metallic cardstock and interchanged some of the cut out pieces and in some cases layered it to another piece of glitter cardstock and then cut out the guitar.
I really like how this one has turned out - it was fun to make!!!

Baby box gift box
Hallo,
An afternoon chillin at home - watching football, watching Irma, and being crafty. I finished off this cute baby box that I made for a coworker and am working on some clay roses(from a mold) for another coworkers wedding box which is my next project.
I used a stamp from 'Flourishes' - stamped onto cryogen white of course and colored with polychrome pencils.
I used a wooden cigar box and a chipboard book and covered them with matching scrapbook papers and edged the edges with a metallic gold pen. I decorated with some little baby shoes, feet and a teddy bear and a cute baby ribbon.
So far Irma isn't going to trouble us much here in NW Florida - 40/50 mph winds and a bit of rain - unless she moves more west over night we should be in the clear.
I guess that means I have to go to work tomorrow....

Pretty in pink
Hallo,
It is so beautiful and cool out this morning, have all the windows and doors open to the fresh air and Lovin it!!! Too bad I couldn't get myself out of bed in time to take the pups for a walk.....I have been working the 11 am to 7 pm shift this week and getting up every day at 6 to walk the pups and run a ton of errands - normal stuff plus a bit of hurricane prepare. Then last night I didn't get off till about 945 pm and I guess I was a bit tired. With any kind of luck the cool weather will hang out a day or two!!!
Irma seems to have turned away from us here in NW Florida panhandle - lets hope she keeps going east and doesn't decide to curve back into the gulf!!! And hopefully weakens a lot more before south Florida has to deal with her full force!!!!
Well I have another baby box to show you - with memory book and card. This one is for a co-worker who is due in a couple weeks. Her colors for baby stuff are pin and gold. I used a cigar box for the box and a chipboard blank book for the memory book. All the images are done on cryogen white paper from Paper Temptress and colored with polychrome pencils. The base pink card stock on the card is also from Paper Temptress - not sure of the name - will have to look that one up.
All the other scrapbook/patterned paper was from deep in my stash of pretty papers.....(ahem/hoarder/denial....)
All for today - gotta head off to work here soon.
Take Care!!!!

Back to baby boxes
Hallo,
Finished off this baby gift box, memory book and card yesterday - just in time as my great-nephew Ryker was born yesterday afternoon (just in time to take in his first Husker game!!!)
I haven't done one of these for awhile and I have 2 more in the works, and a wedding one to do too.
Bust day today so far - went for a walk with the pups and then took the big kayak out just the Hubby and I - a bit cooler here the last couple mornings but it ramps up pretty quick.
It was a great morning to be out on the water, not much for waves in our part of the bay and we had a nice breeze that we used for our return trip.
I also made a quick trip to the studio to get another layer on a couple cold wax pieces that I am doing and now back at home and headed into the craft room.
All for now - Take Care
