Happiness....

Hallo,
I had a very busy day - have a few minutes here before I have to get some supper ready and go to work.
My DS and a couple friends wanted to go to the waterpark today so I ran them out there to be there when it opened at 10 - then my DD and I spent the day doing thrift shops and indoor flea markets (believe me this is no weather to be outside in for me - waaaayyyy too HOT!!!!).
We went to 3 thrift shops, 2 indoor flea markets and one Estate sale. I really didn't buy much - I found a few cigar boxes (one from the estate sale was full of old slides that looked like they came from an art history lesson), 2 briefcases, a wood writing desk with some great filigree scroll work on the lid and some great vintage lace doilies......then we had lunch at Panera bread before running back out to get the guys.
I dropped them off at home and made a quick run for groceries and then vacumed the pool fast before the rain hit.
I may just have to do jumping jacks at work tonight to stay awake (I rarely have any trouble staying awake even my first night on - I never manage to get a nap....)



Anyway - todays card was made awhile back for a sketch challenge over at Stamp TV. The phrase is from Gina K.
The flower was done with the flower dies from Tim Holtz from scraps from other projects - 2 of the scraps are from pieces of cuttlebugged paper distressed with distress inks and the green layer has a backrounder from CHF stamped onto it...
All for today - gotta get me some grub going....

Patio Surfin'

Hallo,
A quick little post this am - didn't get this pre-posted the way I wanted - it was a busy night in the ICU and I am pooped and am ready to sleep....but I know you are just waiting with great anxiety to see what I have created this time :) hee hee
This is an image from 'Phindy's' and I did it for their current challenge here - www.phindysplacechallenge.blogspot.com The challenge this week is embossing. I had the Tim Holtz brick in mind for this image when I saw the challenge but the bricks immediately behind her was a happy doodleing - I needed some color behind her and tried for a faded red to be the same color of brick and then started shading in the bricks and I really like how they turned out.
I also liked how the kitty turned out as I drew in my own calico spots :) - and some of the spots match her hair :).
The foilage is from an older Gina K stamp set called tropical flowers.


Some fun news - I found out yesterday that I won pick of the week on the Phindys challenge blog from last week:)!!!! I haven't had a chance yo get my blinky up yet :) COOOL!!!!

Friends make the world....

Hallo,
Just a quick post before I head for bed tonight - sadly I didn't get any stamping done today.
We got back from our weekend trip yesterday so today was errand day - laundry, clean the pool, pull some weeds(not many as it got too hot waaay too fast for me) restock the frig.....ect., ect., ect.....
I should get some stamping time tomorrow - between running the kids to Volunteer - DS, and Drivers Ed - DD.....
I did this card awhile back for a challenge on Stamp TV.
The base cardstock was run through an inked cuttlebug folder and then edged with the same ink.
The main image is from Gina K - I stamped it onto slightly lighter cardstock than the base with the same ink as I used on the base. Stamped the phrase also with the same color ink - phrase is Gina K also.
I then colored in the flowers with prismacolor pencils and edged the main panel first with colored pencil - then with gold mettalic pen.
The pearls were colored with a copic marker to match the color theme.

Simple Village Christmas

Hallo,
Another quick and simple Christmas card for you today - The main image is from Cornish Heritage Farms - Thomas Kinkade line - simply stamped with purely pomegranate ink, cut with a Spellbinders die inn my cuttlebug and edged with gold.
It was stamped onto cream cardstock and layered to a cream base with the ribbon.
Phrase stamped in the same ink - also from CHF.
I will have to do a bunch of these - they look so beautiful but sooooo simple and quick to do!!!!

Inchie Christmas

You may recognize all the components of this card from yesterdays post - and yes it was all laying on my desk left over from yesterdays card - it was very quick and easy to put together.

Village Christmas

Hallo,
I have been playing with my Thomas Kinkade stamps from Cornish Heritage Farms alot this week - Summer Fling week 2 over at the CHF blog is featuring the Thomas Kinkade line of stamps. Check out all the fun, inspiration and prizes here - www.becreative.cornishheritagefarms.com


The main image on this card is the TK Christmas village stamped with purely pomegranate ink and cut out using a Spellbinders labels die in my cuttlebug and edged with silver.
The next layer is the same die only traced and cut out as it was the largest die in the set - edged in silver.
Under those are the ribbon layer - 3 rows of one ribbon and some old lace ribbon underneath and then a line of small pearls for accent.
Bottom layer uses a cuttlebug folder and the Technique Junkie technique called 'antique wallpaper' I used purely pomegranate ink from SU and current adiarondak ink.
The phrase - also from CHF - is stamped/embossed onto vellum and cut out with a Spellbinders fancy tag - with 2 pearls to hold it in place.
Base cardstock is gray.
I really liked how this turned out!!! It is a 5X7 card.
I have a ton of errands to rubn today as we are taking a weekend trip to North Georgia this weekend to stay at a cabin and do some white water rafting - while the kiddos are volunteering at our local hospital today I will be getting a few groceries, packing, putting gas in the car ect., ect., ect......
I will prepost a few things for you the next couple days. I haver decided to not take any craft stuff along - we have 2 extra teenagers with us this time around so not much room in the car. Besides I need to do some serious playing with my new camera and I have saved several stamping magazines and a couple good books to read to boot....

Victorian Star

Just a quick post tonight as I should already be in the shower getting ready for work......I had a card frenzy today - I got 5 cards done for 3 different challenges - whew!!!!

This card starts with the backrounder 'victorian pattern' done with TJ technique 'backround whimsy' - cut with a Spellbinders die and edged with gold. Stamped 'modern star' and embossed with gold.
I embossed the larger Spellbinders die onto the base cardstock as a frame. Phrase is from 'Christmas expressions' stamped with dark blue onto gold vellum and cut out with smaller Spellbinders die in same set.
All stamps are from Cornish Heritage Farms.

Summer Surf

Hallo,
Happy Memorial Day!!!
I just have a quick post for you today - we got out for a walk before it rained this am and we plan to run out to our favorite beachside resterant for lunch in a bit....
The rain should clear out in the next hour or so - then it will be a very steamy day out - may have to get in the pool for a bit.
I work tonight and tomorrow night so will prepost something for you tomorrow.
I made this card last week for a sketch challenge over at Stamp TV.


The back round was run through a Cuttlebug texture folder and then sanded over the top to reviel the white core of the paper - but then as I inked the edges with ink to match the narrow panel, I decided to ink up part of the swirls too and thought it looked good that way....
The darker half oval panel was done in the cuttlebug too, only no sanding - just inked up the folder first and then added ink to the texture too.
The narrow panel was done on white cardstock with clear embossing powder and 2 shades of blue ink sponged on top.
The top half oval panel was colored with copics.

Sweet and Golden

Hallo,
A quick post before I head to bed this am - busy night last night so my bed will feel good this morning - my pooch is trying to convince me to go for a walk so I had better get typing and get my walkin' shoes back on.....
I had dug out my Sweet Pea stamps the other day and did some coloring for a challenge over at Copic Colour Challenges - G00, BG23 and BV02.
I really liked how she turned out. These images are so much fun to color.

Base cardstock and larger Spellbinder cut panel are from Basic Grey, middle layer is a piece of gold vellum embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. Added a few flatbacked pearls for accent.

Hiking with Dad

Hallo,
Quick little prepost for you on this monday am - I am working night shift so will probably be home and into bed within minutes of hitting the door :).
I did these 2 cards for a challenge over at Stamp TV a couple weeks ago now.
As usual I couldn't decide which colors to use so had to do 2. One has the green dominate and the other brown.
2 Layers on each card have been cut with Spellbinders dies and ran through an inked cuttlebug folder.
The main panel on each is from Gina K designs and colored with copics. I added rhinestones for accents - green ones were colored with my copics as well, amber/brown ones I already had.

Red Koi

Hallo,
This card may look familiar but when I was making yesterdays I couldn't decide which way I wanted to finish it so as I often do - I did both....
I used 2 shades of gray, a cuttlebug folder, and some black ink for the cuttled layers. The middle cuttlebug layer is coordinations cardstock and was sanded over the texture to get the lighter tone.
I used stamps from Flourishes and this weeks challenge over at Flourishes blog was a sketch - check it out here - www.flourishes.org/blog/
I colored the main image with copics. All the layers are edged with a red mettalic pen.

Gray Black Koi

Hallo,

A short little post today - managed to finish up a quick card to show you as I work today.

I was thinking of this card for awhile and the color combination has been calling me too. I used the same Cuttlebug folder on all 3 layers and a sketch from this week FTTC63 over at Flourishes. Check it out here - www.flourishes.or/blog/
The stamps are from Flourishes too.

The base layer was a light gray cardstock and I inked the folder with gray ink. The middle layer was darker gray cardstock with white ink over the texture. The next layer I used light gray cardstock with black ink on the folder.


The main image is colored mostly with cool gray copic markers and a pop of orange and reds for the Koi fish - cut with a Spellbinders labels die and one larger for the black layer.

Oriental Inchies

Hallo,

A quick post for you this am....busy weekend at work but overall not too crazy....I recieved the last of the plants I ordered for this spring in the mail on saturday so I need to get those planted today. I am going to try some roses....haven't tried roses before so we'll see how they do.

I have 2 cards for you today both along the same theme. Over at the 'Inchie Inklings' blog they have started sketch challenges and these 2 cards are for this weeks sketch.

These images may also look familar as I used the same ones for the twinchie challenge over at Flourishes.

The stamps are from Flourishes - colored with copics. I cut out a couple fish and a waterlily to layer 'out-of-the-box' style.

The tan layer is coordinations cardstock run through a cuttlebug folder and then sanded - edged with gold mettalic pen.
Next layer is some oriental washi paper edged with the gold mettalic pen.
Base layer is stamped with oriental script.





In this second card I also ran the base cardstock through the cuttlebug folder and highlighted the texture with walnut stain distress ink.
I decided to get a bit more dramatic with the second card and added a black inchie to the mix and some black and white washi paper.

Each of us....

Hallo,
I am off to work again today but will prepost my last entry for the Gina K's Desinger Spotlight contest for the March release. Maybe 3 will be my lucky number!!!
The challenge was to use 2 of the new colors and 1 of the new sets from the Februray release. I used the Lovely labels on all 3 entries but on this one I also used the new free set when you buy 3 called 'Inside and Out'. The colors I used were the mint green and pink (although it looks lavender in these pics for some reason) and I also used pale yellow with the ribbon.

To have and to hold

Hallo,
Preposting for you today - am at work, making $$$ to spend on stamps :).
We found out yesterday that my Brother-in-law will be getting married here in April - so as long as I still had these stamps out I decided to do another card with them.
The back round was done using a Technique Junkie technique called cuttlebug stamps - used a cuttlebug folder to create a stamp with Magic stamp foam block and then stamped it for the backround onto cream card base. Talk about getting double duty from my cuttlebug folders!!!!
The next layer is a spellbinders die cut from navy blue paper and edged with gold rub on.
The Wedding couple was stamped onto cream cardstock and embossed with white, edged with gold mettalic pen, trimmed close, and popped up with foam tape.
The next layer is 3 strips of the same ribbon - 2 side by side and the 3rd on to - dyed to match with the same blue ink as the backround.
The small layer on top of all that are 2 stamps from Gina K.



I added some flat backed pearls to the corners.
I again used this weeks sketch from CPS #155 .

Little bit o everythin

Hallo,
Did these 2 cards yesterday on my 1 day off - when I should have been doing chores....I was tired and had a slight sore throat, and plugged up head, and I didn't wanna (picture a grown woman stomping her foot like a 2 year old :)....
Anyway back at work today and tomorrow and then I get a couple days off to catch up on chores...and maybe play some more :)
I did this card for 2 challenges - first was for My Favorite Things Guest DT challenge and to help me along I used this weeks CPS sketch.
I used several TJ (Technique Junkie) techniques - including cuttlebug highlights, paper piecing, and out-of- the-box (or in this case out of the circle...).
