Summer Dunes 2.0

Hallo,

Well After looking at this painting from my last post I decided to rework it - added a more defined horizon line and more contrast to the sky. First picture to the second picture.

And I thought it was done.....then after looking at it for a week or so I decided to work on it some more - added more white to the clouds and lightened up the sky more in general.

That is the second picture to the third.

And I am calling the third picture the final rendition of this painting and am happy with it. It is going to an art show a couple weeks from now.

   Have a great week!!!

Summer Dunes

Hallo,

Finished off this painting in the studio this weekend. It is 24H by 36W.

Encaustic, shellac with pigment powders, pan pastels and alot of time with the hot pens.

I have one more in this series to finish off - more of a waterway marsh type, like you see over in Georgia along the coast and bays

Speaking of that last painting - I am off to the studio for a couple hours.

                                                                                                            Have a great week!!!

Stormy Dunes

Hallo,

Some productive time in the studio yesterday. Last weekend I had spent doing backgrounds for 4 paintings ranging in size from 8 by 8 inches to 24 by 36 inches. This weekend I am adding details with the hot pens.

The backgrounds are done with encaustic, pan pastels, and shellac with pigment powders. Total number of layers including base layers at this pointy are about 13 to 15 layers.

I use hot pens with 2 fine tips and a small iron tip to add the seagrass and the fence.

This painting is 12 inches high and 16 wide.

Hot, muggy and rainy in NW Florida this weekend - good weekend for the studio!!!

   Have a great day!!!
