Magnolia frame

 Hallo,
Well so far I donot like the new format blogger is using.....bleh....hope I get used to it.
Couple pics of a frame that I redecorated - I found it at a thrift shop (and even remembered to take 'before' pics this time - they are at the end of the post). This is defiantly an old picture frame - the tabs that slide over to hold the picture in the frame on the back of it were plastic and they just disintegrated in my hands when I was taking apart the frame....
The magnolias are from Flourishes and colored with copics on the left hand frame and  layered to pretty DP  - I also used the magnolias stamped in gray ink behind the phrase on the right side of the frame.
   The phrase is from Verve.
I cut both main panels out with a Spellbinders die and edged them with gold mettalic pen. I then used a thin gold mettalic pen to outline the scrolls etched into the corners of each frame. Lastly I used some viva decor gold pen on the frame and on the DP behind the main images.
All for me today - gotta get ready to head off to work.....
This piece will be up on the Etsy shop here shortly :)

Tailormade Friendship

Hallo,
Well it has been a skimpy week for posts this week but I have a sweet little tidbit for you today :).
After having monday off - I worked tuesday and wednesday nights and was sposed to work thursday night too but I let another co-worker take that one as she wanted some extra mulla for her vacation coming up....and I dont mind an extra day off (although not really extra due to working a nonscheduled shift on tuesday as an extra...).
I did this little frame up for the current FTTC challenge over at Flourishes. The challenge this week is a Bingo challenge and I chose the row with - buttons, lace and bling.(more on that in a bit). Chek out the challenge here - www.flourishes.org/blog/
I had fully intended on taking pics as I went along this time and as usual forgot.....arrggg.
This is a picture frame that I found at a local thrift shop and redecorated.
The black flourishes and the word friends were already on the glass on the inside and I added a stamped phrase from Flourishes embossed in black on the outside of the glass.
The base cardstock is one that looks like vintage dress patterns and on top of that I layered - horizontally a die cut lacey pattern, edged with purple ink and some real lace trim (also from Flourishes), vertically - I added a different lacey type die cut also edged in purple ink .
Along the left side of the frame I cut some rosettes with some of the same paper as the base and edged them with purple ink and topped them with some vintage cloth covered buttons (covered in purple cloth - perfect match from my stash :).
Next layer is a Hero Arts stamp - colored with prismacolor pencils, die cut, sponged with antique linnen distress ink and edged with tea dye and walnut stain distress inks.
Next layer is the hat and hat stand stamp from Flourishes - colored with copics and added some viva decor pearl pen for some 'bling'
Last but not least - popped up on a couple layers of foam tape is the drress form from the same Flourishes set colored also in copics and with some added bling with the pearl pen.
I had such fun planning and doing this frame!!! It will be up on my Etsy site tonight if anyone is interested :)
Well - I have an hour or so to putz around and then its off to meet the kids to take Prom pictures :) My DD looks so beautiful in her dress!!!! We are taking pics down at the boardwalk overlooking the beach :)
Take Care - Hope you are having a good weekend!!!!

Proud Mamma Post

        Hallo,
Short note this am - backposting for last evening which was the JROTC Awards night. I am one proud Mama!!! Both my kiddos received multiple Awards and many ribbons and citations for individual and team accomplishments and my kids circle of friends also received MANY awards!!!
Unfortunately I had to leave right away as the Award Ceremony ended and could not stay to torture the kids longer by taking more photos. (Believe me - if you would see a couple I took of DS that I did not include here, you would think I really was torturing them!!! :)
On top of many awards my Daughter was informed that she has been chosen as next years Corp Commander!!!!
Ok all for me this am(for Wednesday evening :)

Fairy

Hallo,
Well a busy night at work and now its almost time for bed, but I thought I would pop in and show you a little project that I finished up yesterday while my house was oh so quiet and it was rainy outside.
I spent yesterday am finishing off some chores and house cleaning and then the DH and I went to lunch (DS left around 730 am for lifeguard training and DD was at a friends house all day) - after lunch DH went out and about and I had the house and the cats all to myself :)
I made journal for my friend and co-worker. I showed her all my fairy and mermaid stamps and she chose this little sweetie . She wanted her done in purples.

Hope Happens

Good morning!!!
A card to start your morning off - and mine. I plan to do a bit of yard work and then finish off the house cleaning that I tried to get done on thursday (not too much else left) and then its stamping time for me - at least until I have to head off to work tonight anyhow....
DS is gone all day for Lifeguard training, DD spent the night and is spending all day at a friends and won't be home till late (probably with about 3 extra's in tow for the night :) and DH has busyness this afternoon too....
This card is for the current challenge over at Flourishes - www.flourishes.org/blog/.
The challenge this week is to use your favorite set - well the magnolias are currently my favorite :)!! I colored them with copics and then used an out-of-the-box technique to cut it out with a Spellbinders labels die.
I layered it simply to a piece of pretty yellow DP and stamped the phrase onto the DP.
I added some gold corner stickers and tiny pearls with a viva decor pen for accents.
All for today - time to get a move on :)
Take Care

CSS Sketch Challenge

Hallo,
Welcome to friday evening!!! To start your weekend the CSS gals from Gina K (me included :) are having a blog hop using this sketch from Melissa C. as our inspiration.
I am the begining of the hop this time, but if you get lost along the way head back to Stamp TV - www.stamptv.ning.com to find the way again.
Make sure to leave sweet comments along the way because somewhere along the hop we are giving away a HUGE grab bag of Gina K stamps (we will draw the name on tuesday the 24th of April)

I did 2 cards this time around - the first one is closest to the sketch but I wanted to have more gears showing so I stretched the sketch a bit and did another card.
In my first card I colored the truck red with copics (stamped onto DP) - the truck is from "The Journey" and the phrase is from one of the newer sets "Masculine Messages"
I used Spellbinders dies to cut the gears from copper and silver mettalic paper and Spellbinders labels dies to cut out the truck and phrase.
Accents with a bronze via decor pen.

My second card is a bit larger at 5X7 and I flipper the sketch so I could add a longer row of gears. I used the same truck and this time used the label and the phrase from the "Masculine Messages" - all colored with copics and again accented with a viva decor pen.
Ok its time to send you on your way to the fabulous Sharri - www.istamp4u.blogspot.com/2012/04/gina-k-designs-april-css-hop.html
Have a great weekend everyone!!!!

Lovely

Hallo,
Well yesterday was my run errand day and today is my clean house and stamp day :) and hopefully tomorrow the house will be clean and all I will have to do is stamp!!! :)
I am hoping to set up a table at our local 'Art Walk' downtown tomorrow night so I need to pull out a few things for that too.
Todays card is one I did for the current challenge over at the Impression Obsession blog (I have been thinking about this card fo almost 2 weeks - since I missed the last IO challenge - gee that work thang gets in the way sometimes :)
The challenge is 'flower power' and this stamp is one of my newer ones from IO - called "Pretty Peony" #F 8739. I stamped it onto some DP with a bird on it and colored it with my copics. I edged it with purely pomegranet ink and layered it to a dusty pink cardstock.
I added some olive flat backed pearls for contrast and some rubon's for the phrase and the corner swirls.
Check out the challenge here - www.mitrafriant.typepad.com - enter a card or project and you could win free stamps!!!!
