Frog wishes

Hallo,

Boy was I lazy today!!! I could not get moving for nothing - sun shining (a bit too cold for yard work) - finally I decided to just get out of the house and go to some thrift shops (if that didn't wake me up nothing would). I hadn't been to the local thrift shops for a long time as every nook and cranny is full of alterables and other assorted goodies but naturally I can home with more. I found a briefcase that was in pretty good shape for 3 dollars - now I have 3....I want to recover them as I did with an older style briefcase over a year ago now...

I also found an old samsonite make up case in good shape that I want to recover too - it also was 3 dollars - and I now have 3 of those too (wait maybe its 4....).

Ahhh well after the thrift shops I did manage to play some in the craft room.

This card is for a challenge over at Gina K 's blog. It is to for their Center Stage Spotlight Dt member for March - Boy would that be the ultimate in fun if I managed to win that!!!!!!

The challenge was to use one of Februrary's release sets and 2 of the new colors.

The colors I used are lavender, pink and yellow.

I used 2 sets on this card - Lovely Labels and Hang In There.

I will have to say that this card didnot come easy for me - I started out stamping the label as a mask and then stamped the frog so he would be in the middle - colored him with copics and a touch of white gel pen. Then I stamped over him with the Lovely label stamp, but it just didn't pop - so I colored the flowers, still not 'IT' - so I stamped the label again with the same ink only this time I embossed it with clear powder - hmmm better, still not 'IT' - so I cut out both with my nesties, cut the first one with the frog image out with the slightly smaller die and the embossed one with the same size die. Then I cut the middle out of the embossed label and edged it with green and gold and popped it up on top of the frog one - good - then I needed backround paper so I tried one after another and liked the green best.

The flower DP is left over from a piece I cut off one of my DD's birthday cards - edged with gold. Then I started hunting embellies - pink ribbon to pull out my funky pink sky behind the frog and the pink flowers in the flower DP, a green paper flower on top of a clear flower and finally a pink button.....sheesh it took me awhile!!!!

Pop over to Gina's blog to see what the DT did with the color challenge and what the other contestants are doing - some awsome stuff there!!! http://www.blog.ginakdesigns.com/

All for today ya'll - off to get some grub for the fam - as in we are driving to the local sit 'n' chomp for wings and pizza..... :)

See ya monday - Have a great weekend!!!

To have and to hold

Hallo,
Preposting for you today - am at work, making $$$ to spend on stamps :).
We found out yesterday that my Brother-in-law will be getting married here in April - so as long as I still had these stamps out I decided to do another card with them.
The back round was done using a Technique Junkie technique called cuttlebug stamps - used a cuttlebug folder to create a stamp with Magic stamp foam block and then stamped it for the backround onto cream card base. Talk about getting double duty from my cuttlebug folders!!!!
The next layer is a spellbinders die cut from navy blue paper and edged with gold rub on.
The Wedding couple was stamped onto cream cardstock and embossed with white, edged with gold mettalic pen, trimmed close, and popped up with foam tape.
The next layer is 3 strips of the same ribbon - 2 side by side and the 3rd on to - dyed to match with the same blue ink as the backround.
The small layer on top of all that are 2 stamps from Gina K.

I added some flat backed pearls to the corners.
I again used this weeks sketch from CPS #155 .
All for today

Acceptance

Hallo,
I have been so lazy these 2 days off - no house cleaning, no yard work, barely managed to get out for a walk with my poor mutt......no excuse except no energy. And the weather waas soooo pretty here this afternoon - I did sit on the porch for a bit soaking up the sun and fresh air.
I did however get some stamping done - I guess there is always energy for that. In reality it seems to give me energy so I guess thats what I really needed.
This card is for 2 challenges - Flourishes FTTC55 and CPS 155.
Flourishes challenge was to use flowers. I only have 2 sets of theirs with flowers and the waterlily was my choice today. I stamped the small waterlily on white paper and colored it with copics, cut it out and layered it to 2 plastic flower dohickies. The koi fish I stamped right on the oriental washi paper and colored with copics. I added 2 tiny falt backed faux pearls near the fish for bubbles :). The word come from one of the phrases in the same set - it just used the last word and embossed it in white.
You can see more of this challenge here - www.flourishesnewsletter.blogspot.com

I also used this weeks sketch from Card Positioning Systems and you can see more of that challenge here - www.cardpositioningsystems.blogspot.com
All for today - should probably try to do a little picking up around the house and maybe start supper .......

Anniversary card

Hallo,

I managed a little time in the craft room today - I was draggin tail big time today (work yesterday was just a bit crazy...).

I used another of the 3D Shadowboxes cut from one of Vicki's dies . www.vickichrisman.blogspot.com
My sister and her DH will have their 25th Wedding Anniversary in April so I decided to do them a fancy card. (I am pretty sure she never has time to pop in here so can show you...). Their colors were a light blue .

On the mid section of the base I used a cuttlebug folder and a Technique Junkie technique called 'cuttlebug highlights' - on the side panels I used the same cuttlebug folder and a product called 'magic stamp foam block' in a slight modification of a TJ technique called cuttlebug stamps that uses fun foam. The magic stamp foam block is really cool - you heat it with a heat gun for a couple minutes and then it will take an impression and can be used like a stamp - I used the same cuttlebug folder.
You can find the magic stamp foam block here - www.rubbernature.com
I haven't used mine in awhile but will be alot more - really makes my cuttlebug folders a great value!!!! And I just ordered some more too!!! :)

The stamp for the main image is from Northwoods Stamps. I embossed the stamp on cream paper with white detail powder, added some shadows with a copic marker and outlined it with a gold mettalic pen before cutting it out.
The rest of the stamps are from Gina K and also colored with my copics. I was going for more of a pale ice blueish and it accually turned out slightly bluegreenish.... I just got this set last week and really like it - especially the cake!!!
I added some flat back pearls in spots and some smaller ones to the cake.
All for now - got some couch chillin time to accomplish :)

Family photos post...

Hallo,
A couple family pics here - all of my DD Paula. DS Jack would not let me get any pics - and I can never seem to get any decent pictures at a swim meet (our YMCA pool area is very small and very crowded during a meet).
This first photo is of DD with her Science Fair project - 'Respect da Worm' and her Second place plaque from the Regional Science Fair.

These next few photos are of Paula opening a package from Grandpa Dennis - he got a big kick out of her science fair project on worms and she even conned him into helping her sort worms last fall when they were down to visit.
He sent her some huge plastic worms - I am guessing they are fishing lures?
"What am I sposed to do with these?"

All for now,

India revisited

Hallo,
Trying to get an early start today - have errands to do, my morning walk too and some house work before I can head back to the craft table....
My DD got Second place in her catagory last night which I was really impressed with!!! She was disappointed that she didn't get chosen to go to State...both her friends also got second in their catagories AND got chosen to go to state.....they only chose 30 some out of over 200 to go to state .....She is already planning next years project though.....
Todays project might look familiar....part of the reason it took me so long to get yesterdays done is that I couldn't decide on what colors - I had origionally planned to incoorperate both color schemes on the same box and it just wasn't working - so I did another box....

This is another altered cigar box using stamps from Outlines and my copics.
You can find the stamps here - www.outlinesrubberstamp.com
Again I did alot of edging with a gold mettalic pen on all the plain paper, the colored pieces, the mirror inside and the little spools I used for feet.
Instead of flat backed faux pearls, this time I used rhinestones.
The inside of both boxes are lined with felt by the way...
All for today - gotta get crankin....

Colors of India

Hallo,
Just a quick little post tonight gotta head out in a few minutes to the Awards ceremony for Regional Science Fair. DD had her experiment on Vermicomposting at regionals.
I have had this project in mind for several months and in the works for several weeks.....that work thang keeps gettin in the way.....
I had planned on this project being a submission for a Design Team for Outlines stamps but I got a newsletter from them saying the had chosen their new DT so I guess I missed that deadline......
I used several Outlines stamps that you can find here - www.outlinesrubberstamp.com

I embossed them in gold on white paper and then colored them in with copics. The small squares are from a big backround type stamp and I cut the indivual squares apart.
The colors reminded me of India and I put them up against the tourquoise blue and they looked really dramatic to me that way, so I went with it....
This is a cigar box that I found at a local thrift store. I got it all done except the inside and then decided that the inside needed a mirror on the lid - believe it or not, in all my major stash of schtuff I didn't have one - so I had to make a run to my local craft store......

I edged all the blue paper, colored medallions and the mirror in gold mettalic pen. Oh and I also colored the little spools with the mettalic pen too - for the feet of the box.
I just love how the mirror looks!!!!
Oh and as you can see I also used alot of flat back faux pearls.
All for tonight - gotta get running...

Outlined in purple

Hallo,
A quick card for you today. I wanted to pick up some of my Outlines stamps again this weekend and I hadn't played along with CPS sketches in awhile so that is where I started.
I took the flower cardstock off one of my DD's birthday cards :) - it was too cute to throw away....
The main panel was stamped with Outlines stamps and colored with copics - I tried to use colors from the flowered panel. I had a hard time deciding on colors so as I often do I ended up doing 2 - I will show you the second one tomorrow. The pics are a bit dark as I lost daylight and took the photos inside....
For more inspiration from this weeks CPS sketch go here - www.cardpositioningsystems.blogspot.com
And for great stamps from Outlines look here - www.outlinesrubberstamp.com
All for today - at work again....

Tea with a friend

Hallo,
I think I am finally back in the swing of things. I had a bit of time to play at the craft table this weekend :).
I am preposting for you today as I am at work - the kiddos and DH are all off today (insert pout).
Last week was a bit busy - DH had a heart cath done on tuesday morning (thankfully totally negative) - later that afternoon DD needed to set up for Regional Science Fair and I let her drive there (only second time driving on main roads verses backroads...), then off to pick up DS from swim team practice....worked wednesday and thursday... friday = errands, house work and a bit of time at the craft table on friday.... saturday swim meet......Well as I said - it was a busy week :)

This picture was started on the base of a new die cut designed by my friend Vicki for accu cut - see her blog for more info and some great projects using the die - http://www.vickichrisman.blogspot.com/
Vicki sent me some precut to play with :)
Thanks Vic!!!!
I had a tea theme in mind from a challenge over at Flourishes last week to do something based on your favorite beverage and I really enjoy hot tea. Especially a Chai Tea latte from Starbucks.
Anyway I have 2 tea themed stamp sets - fixin to have a third from Flourishes - and this one is from Gina K - http://www.ginakdesigns.com/
The backround on the die cut and the 'wallpaper' behind is from a Papertrey Ink stamp set - http://www.papertreyink.com/
I used copics to color the images and some spellbinders dies, and some flat backed pearls too.

All for today

Layered Country House

Hallo,
My last challenge for the Flourishes challenges last week - just in under the wire!!!
This card was done for the 'cut it out and layer it' challenge. The main section of the house is cut with a spellbinders die on top off the colored backround. Then I stamped the image again and colored just the fence and 2 side trees, cut them out and layered them on top.
When I went to look for a ribbon - the 1/2 inch ribbon was too wide for the ribbon tag and I was out of the 1/4 inch in the brown - and I really wanted the brown. So I took some thin double sided tape and taped it to the edge of the 1/2 inch and folded it in half. Worked like a charm.

All for today - I have some errands to run before I can get to the craft room.

Birthday Fourth

Hallo,
Stopping in quick to post another card for the challenges over at Flourishes this week.
This one was for their fruity challenge which had me stumped for a bit. I don't have any fruit stamps from Flourishes so I went with the colors of my favorite fruits - strawberries and blueberries :).
Stop by the Flourishes blog and check out the challenges and what everyone has done with them - www.flourishesnewsletter.blogspot.com

All for today - Hope your weekend is going well.

Coffee and TJ

Hallo,

Just a quick little prepost for you today - I haven't been posting much on weekends but this week I have a series of challenges to finish off.....

This card accually goes for 2 challenges - the first is from Flourishes. They are having a bunch of challenges to celebrate the year anniversary of the Timeless Tuesday challenges. This challenge was to use your favorite Flourishes set. The coffee set was my very first set from Flourishes and still one of my favs.

Go and see all the challenges and what everyone has done with them here - http://www.flourishesnewsletter.blogspot.com/.

The second challenge I used this card for was from Technique Junkies newsletter called Technique by Design. We had a sketch to follow and the squares behind are all techniques from TJ. We had to use at least 2. I used walnut stain and embossed resist.
See more about this challenge here - www.patstamps.blogspot.com

The stamps on the technique pieces are all from Cornish heritage Farms - backrounders 'Sophisticated swirl', 'Fiery Floral' and 'Ornamental borders' - the last 2 being scrapblock backrounders.
All for today folks - should have another challenge card for you tomorrow.
