Steampunk Rose - red

Hallo,
Pre-posting for this am as its going to be a busy day and a busy week.....
After getting a bit of sleep this am my DD and I are going to go grocery shopping - she likes to cook and is looking forward to cooking us some healthy stuff, and then we still need to work on clearing some of the windows of schtuff because tomorrow they are coming to replace all the windows on our house....
Showing you today the same image as yesterday - only colored a bit different.
Its a steampunk style rose from Rick St. Dennis and I colored it with polychrome pencils. I added a bit of glitter to the bug, rose and cobweb and blended the background a bit with OMS.
Backed the main image with a gold shimmery cardstock and edged both layers with a gold metallic pen.
Lastly I added some gold corner stickers for accents.
All for today - Take Care

Steampunk Rose - yellow

Hallo,
My Daughter is on her way home from Germany!!!!!
I haven't seen her since spring break now so am glad - too bad I have to work again tonight - her plane doesn't get in till 8 pm after I am already at work. Hopefully I will get a chance to talk to her on her layover in Atlanta this afternoon!!!
Showing you a pretty steampunk style rose from Rick St. Dennis today. I colored it up with polychrome pencils and blended the background a bit with OMS.
This is another in my 'reading card' series - I am about half way done with these - for a total of 50 with some extras for her to pick and chose some favorites from.
I layered the main panel to some shimmery  gold cardstock and both panels are edged with a gold metallic pen.
I added some glitter to the rose and the cobweb and then added some gold corner stickers too.
All for today - need to be a good girl and do my stretches and get off to bed for some much welcome sleep!!!!

Marina

Hallo,
Just a sweet little project to show you before I head off to work tonight.
This sweet little mermaid is from Sweet Pea Stamps by artist Teresa Sherman and is called 'Marina'
I colored her with a combination of prismacolor pencils and polychrome pencils - I like the skin tones in prismacolors better but love how you can get a finer and stronger tip with the polychromes - of course there are certain colors in each set that I like better and in this case its the 'corals' from the polychrome that I like a lot!!!
I layered her to a gold shimmery cardstock and edged both panels with gold metallic pen.
I added some touches of glitter and some gold stickers to finish her off.
The back of this 'reading card' is stamped and embossed with stamps from Papertrey Ink  .
It twas a busy day for me but I did mange to get in a nap before work - rainy, hot and windy outside today.

Oceans storm

Hallo,
A rainy morning here in NW Florida so my pups wont get a walk today - the way the radar looks it will be a couple hours yet and by then it will be way too hot and I will be out and about.
Our local Arts and Design Society is hosting kids arts camps this week and I am going to help out for a few hours this am and then my friend Pat and I are headed over to our bran new HOBBY LOBBY!!!!! It just opened on Monday so its high time we went and took a look!!!
I have a small encaustic painting for you today - 6 by 6 inches in a 10 by 10 frame.
I started with about 5/6 layers of plain wax and then started adding blues and white and using the heat gun not only to fuse by to really melty and get some cool swirls
and such - I thought it turned  out looking rather oceany and stormy.
All for now - better get a move on.

Steampunk Doll

Hallo,
Just a quick post this am as I am running a bit late to get to the studio today. The gallery I rent studio space at to play with my encaustics opens at 10 and as part of studio fee we spend one day a week as gallery staff (course we can work on stuff while we are there so its an easy thing to do)
Took the dogs for a walk down to a small spot of beach nearby and let them play in the water - my big boy really LOVES the water so its fun to watch them chase each other and play!!!
I have another in the reading card series for you today - I used a stamps from Sweet Pea Stamps called 'Steampunk Doll' from Meredith Dillman.
I colored her with prismacolor pencils and layered her to the gold cardstock and edged both layers with gold metallic pen.
The back is stamped and embossed with stamps from Papertrey Ink.
Ok need to get a move on - Take Care

Encaustic mermaid

Hallo,
Just a short post this am - took the pups for a short walk and did my stretches so its off to bed for me shortly. My project for this afternoon is to start clearing away stuff from the windows in my house as we are getting all new windows next tuesday - the next 2 days are busy ones for me and then I work the weekend so I guess today is the day - SOOOO looking forward to it....NOT
On to something more fun - this sweet little mermaid encaustic piece.
I used a digital image from Sweet Pea Stamps by Holly Durr called 'Enchanted Summer' I colored her with prismacolor and polychrome pencils.
I did up an oceany background and then added my sweet mermaid on top and then added a couple more layers of wax - I reall hadnt planned for the blu wax to melt in over the top of her like it did but was really pleased with how it looked  - kinda looks like she is under water.
The encaustic piece is 6 bby 6 inches matted to some gold colored mat board and framed in a 10 by 10 inch frame.
I really am loving my encaustic wax adventure - the wax is so translucent and it changes colors and shapes with different lighting - so pretty!!!
All for this am - Take Care

Castle in wax

Hallo,
I am pre-posting for this morning because I worked last night and have determined to come home and take the pups for a short walk and do my stretches before I head off to bed ....usually I sit for a few minutes here at the computer first and then head to bed but I really need to start doing my stretches more and a short walk before I stretch helps loosen things up a bit, not to mention the pups enjoy it and get a chance to burn off some energy :)
I have another encaustic wax piece for you today - this one is another in the series with vintage images that I transferred onto cardstock and then glued to the board.
I have since through trial and compare have found that I get pretty much the same look just doing the  transfer directly into the wax - and then I save my good cardstock and the transfer solvent.
So I started out with about 5 to 7 layers of plain wax and then used a stencil with some blue and silver wax to make the pretty flourish.
The wax piece is 6 by 6 inches matted to black mat board and framed in an 8 by 8 inch frame.
I am so excited to get done with these 2 nights of work because yesterday the new Hobby Lobby opened in our area and I am hoping to go take a look Wednesday afternoon (after a bit of sleep)!!!
All for now - Take care

Fairy Fae and Father's Day

Hallo,
Well I didn't get any yard work done yesterday - went outside after sitting for a few minutes after our walk and pretty much said "Oh heck no" It was so HOT/HUMID!!!!
Instead I got cleaned up and met the boys for early Father's Day brunch. The Hubby and my son went out for a ride on the motorcycles - my sons first ride since he got his motorcycle permit. Sunday mornings are best for traffic around here so it was a good time for them to get in a ride. Picture at the bottom is of the boys leaving the resterant.
Then we went to one of our favorite restaurants for brunch - prime rib, crab legs, shrimp, along with all the usual breakfast fixins and yummy muffins - a bit more than their usual brunch just for Father's day.
The rest of my day was spent puttering around the house and coloring on the couch while my son took a nap and then went to work and hubby made his usual Sunday rounds on the motorcycle.
Todays project uses an image from Sweet Pea Stamps called 'Margaret Fae' by Amanda S.Byron.
I colored her with prismacolor pencils - blending the background a bit with OMS. I layered her to some gold shimmery cardstock and edged both layers with gold metallic pen, and added some pretty gold stickers too.
The back side is stamped and embossed with stamps from Papertrey Ink.
I am slowly getting these reading cards finished - I am having fun with them too!!!
All for today - time to venture out to the yard before temperatures hit the boiling point....

Peace

Hallo,
Well as per usual the pups took us out for our early morning walk and now after a bit to eat I am going to try a bit of yard work - only going to do about an hour  - way to hot and humid or me but the weeds are taking over and they wont pull themselves. I think a dip in the pool may be in order after that :)
Another reading card for you - I am almost half way to 60 - a reading deck is only 50 but I want to have some extras for my client to choose from.....
This is an original zentangle - I wrote out the word peace first and then tangled it and the background, trying to do the more shaded tangles around the letters. Then I decided it needed some color so I colored this one in shades of purple.
I layered the tangled piece to a shimmery gold cardstock and edged both panels with gold metallic pen and added a couple stickers. The back of the card was stamped and embossed with stamps from Papertrey Ink.
All for today - I have been busy in my studio last week and have some more encaustic wax for you coming up - a couple of them I am saving for next weeks art show over at ADSO (Arts and Design Society) which is for 'smalls' - nothing over 10 by 10.

Rose Fairy

Hallo,
Welcome to Saturday morning at the Fujan house - the pups have already taken us for a walk before the heat got ramped up too much and now we are getting a bit of breakfast and lining up cars for the day....my sons car is still in the shop and my van died on me yesterday - good thing we have an extra car or 2 around....now just to find that money tree.....
I am helping out with a garage sale/fund raiser for our local Arts and Design Society this am and my son works this evening......it will work out one way or another.....
I have another of the reading card series for you today.
I used a sweet image from Sweet Pea Stamps called Aphrodite's by Gabriella Szabo.
I colored her with my polychromes and then added some glitter to her wings and the roses.
I layered her to some pretty gold shimmery cardstock from Paper Temptress and the back is stamped/embossed with stamps from Papertrey Ink.
Well time to get a move on for the day - Have a great weekend!!!!

Butterfly encaustic

Hallo,
Showing you another encaustic wax piece this am. Another in the vintage image series. I did transfers of vintage images onto cardstock and glued that to the base board and then added about 7 to 8  layers of wax over the top.
I then used a stencil and some blue and silver wax.
I matted this one to a piece of slate blue suede mat board and framed it.
The piece is 6 by 6 inches in a 8 by 8 inch frame.
I will have a short sleep today and then head off to the studio and help set up for a garage sale we are having to raise money for our local 'Arts and Design Society' (ADSO) ADSO is on the edge of loosing our building because it needs some major repairs and the city doesnt have the money to do it, so even though we only rent the building we want to stay where we are (and its a certified historical site too) so hopefully our garage sale on saturday will help the cause out a bit. Our garage sale saturday will feature art and art supplies as well as all the usual assortment of schtuff found at garage sales so if you are local stop on by  - HH Arts - 100 Beal Parkway, Fort Walton Beach.
Ok - off to nap - Take Care

Creekside Fairy

Hallo,
Just a quick post this am as I am really ready for my bed this am after a long night at work - my bed is singing ever so sweetly to me but no sense going to bed until the pups are fed and have made a trip outside after they eat - otherwise they just wake me up in an hour or so anyhow....besides inbetween eating and outside I get some puppy snuggles and some good conversation in  :)
I have a new image from Sweet Pea Stamps to show you this am from Molly Harrison called 'Creeekside Fairy'.
I colored her with polychrome pencils - I really like the pinkish combo that I used for her tail!!
I blended the background a bit with OMS and then used some gold shimmery cardstock to layer her to - both layers edged with gold mettalic pen. And added a couple stickers.
The back of the reading card is stamped and embossed in black some medallion stamps from Papertrey Ink.
All for now - Have a great day!!!

Ocean Storm

 Hallo,
I just had to show you part of what I did in my studio yesterday - I had so much fun!!! I spent my studio day last week just preparing boards - which means many layers of plain wax, heat fusing in between so that I had a bunch prepared and ready to play. This one is a 12 by 12 inch cradled board with about 7 to 10 layers of wax as a base on the top and about 3 layers as a base on the sides.
I had done a smaller version similar to this when I first got started yesterday (a 6 by 6 that I am going to frame and then show you) so I decided to do a bigger version. All in all there is about 4 or 5 more layers of wax on the top of this piece and about 3 more layers on the sides.
I used a dark blue, some turquoise , some malachite green, light blue and white.
It will be up on the Etsy shop shortly.
     Have a great day!!!

Circle fusion 2 - zentangle

Hallo,
Another zentangle for you this am....its a studio day for me so I managed to get out for a walk before it was too hot (relatively speaking anyhow - after all it is summer in Florida...)
So now I get to go play with my wax and hang out at the Art Studio/Gallery.
I did this tangle on a 6 by 6 inch piece of heavy cardstock and used a small soda can that was nearby to make the circles and just picked random patterns from my cheat book and doodled myself relaxed :)
All for  now - Take Care
