Christmas Trees

Hallo,
Well I haven't gotten much crafting done in the last couple days...but I did get to stop in at A.C. Moore yesterday and spend my Birthday gift certificate on some really good sales (and then went back today because the sales on were so good on a couple paper packs that I decided to get a couple more - and I needed some workable fixative for a couple ornaments I am trying to do....)
I did these 2 cards for the current challenge over at Flourishes for the Timeless Tuesday challenges - the challenge this time was to use trees and/or leaves. I have many, many of their floral images but few trees so I decided to use the Christmas tree. Check out the challenge and all the great inpiration from the DT here - www.flourishes.org/blog/

The DP that I stamped the tree on is something new from Tim Holtz - a craft resist cardstock, this one from the Christmas pack. I sprayed the cardstock with gold and green glimmer mist and Memory mist and then embossed the tree onto the more gold one with vintage photo distress powder and the more green one with red powder.
I accented the tree and the card with liquid pearls (tulip) and gold viva decor pens.
All for me today - need to get a nap before work tonight....

Fall leaves

Hallo,
Quick post this am...I took these pics friday am after doing some yard work.
Fall is so weird here in Florida - what little there is of it. This maple tree in my back yard is still about half green, the leaves that turn only stay pretty for about a day and then turn black/brown and fall off, but I managed to catch a few in the pretty stage on friday.
Very cool the last couple days here so managed to get some yard work done on friday and am headed out for more here in a few minutes - leaves to rake, weeds to pull, bushes to trim....
I hope to get to the craft room later today so you may see me again today if I get anything done....

ROTC comp

Hallo,
Quick post this evening before I crash...worked last night so tried to catch a couple hours sleep yesterday am without much luck. I got up and went to watch the kids at the ROTC competition.
I missed Jack's color guard comp by only about 20 minutes - bummer - especially since they took second place (unfortunately I am not to safe driving on no sleep....even little sleep is better).
I did get to see Paula's drill comp which is the first several pics and the last 2 are of Jack and the color guard team with their trophy.
In this first pic Paula is front row, middle.

Second pic Paula is middle row, only girl.
Third pic she is second row - far right.
The pics of Jack and the color guard team aren't the greatest but it was all I could do to catch them and make them stand still long enough for a couple pictures.
There were 13 teams at this competition and the kids HS team took 2 awards - Jack's color guard team being one of them.
They all looked very sharp in their uniforms and very professional looking (if I say grown up looking they will roll their eyes at me :)

All for tonight - me tired.....

Christmas Snowflakes

Hallo,
Well yesterday I showed you the last of the Halloween cards so ...are you ready for Christmas?
I didn't get much done in the craft room today - had an hour or so and just putzed a bit 'cleaning' up around my table, which in reality just amounted to shuffling stuff from one spot to another spot :) but I did put some stuff away. And I got some sheets of business cards decorated too as I had ran out some time ago (employee craft fair coming up next week at work....)
My pooch got me out for a walk this am and then I did about an hour and 1/2 of yard work, laundry, dishes and some general picking up around the house...nothing too exciting... and then got a good nap before heading off to work in a few minutes.
I did these 2 cards for a challenge last week on Stamp TV - the challenge was for snowflakes. I had some gold vellum left from another project so got out my Spellbinders snowflakes and punched out a bunch.
All the stamps are from Gina K.
On this first card I used a couple Spellbinders labels dies and edged them with gold. The ribbon was origionally ivory colored but I sprayed it with gold memory mist so it would match, and then added some gold liquid pearls from a Viva Decor pen.
More gold snowflakes with the second card along with Spellbinders fancy tags and ovals.
All for tonight - gotta get off to work. Might get some crafting time tomorrow after a bit of sleep ....
Have a great weekend!!!!

Outlines Halloween

Hallo,
Busy week for me but I have a few things in my stash that I haven't shown you yet....
I didn't get much crafting done yesterday after sleeping and today I am up at work teaching all day so I won't get to the craft table today either.
This is one of the last of my Halloween cards (I mailed them all out on monday :).
The 2 main images are from the same large collage stamp from Outlines. I colored them with copics and then edged them with gold mettalic pen.
I added a purple spider brad and the phrase is from a MS Halloween sticker pad.
I used a texture folder on the coredinations paper - brown with orange core - and edged that panel with gold too, a purple layer and a purple base and dats all folks....
Have a great day!!!

Outlines Pink

Hallo,
Not sure how long I will sleep today - I am pooped - so will get this posted before I hit the hay...
I did this for the current challenge over at the Outlines blog for 'Pretty in Pink'. This was a pretty quick card for me as the 3 main images were already colored up from another project (the kitty cat bed that I did....) and the black and pink coredinations panel was left over from that project too.
I edged all the panels with gold mettalic pen.
I embossed the base pink cardstock with a texture folder and then highlighted the texture with a bright dark pink (a bit to bright and dark but ah well....) - and then added 2 rows of pink ribbon too.
Check out the Outlines challenge here - http://www.outlineswithkathy.blogspot.com/

I am hoping to get enough energy this afternoon to do some yard work - it will be a good day for it, not too hot but nice and sunny!!
All for now - off to sleep....

I'm here....

Hallo,
Decided to post this quick before I head to work....
I did this a week or so ago and it is also up on my Etsy shop.
This is another one of my baby sets with a memory book and gift box. I did this one up in fresh bright pinks!!!!
I covered the box and book with scrapbook papers and decorated with stamps from My Favorite Things and Gina K.
The main image is colored with copics.
The strips of white onsies are from a sheet of clear scrapbook paper that I found - I have cut off enough to decorate the box, book and a card....
In addition to the memory book is a gift card, baby style and a packet of onsies from the same papers to use to help decorate the pages along with baby photos.

Ok - off to work for the night....

Fall Favorite

Hallo,
Pre-posting for today - back to work after over 10 days off is tough!!!!
I made this card for the current challenge over at Mo's blog for favorite Mo's image with a sentiment. Well choosing a favorite is darn near impossible but this one is one of my favorites for fall so that will have to do.
Check out the challenge and all the inspiration from the DT here - www.mosdigitalchallenge.blogspot.com
I colored this cutie with prismacolor pencils and cut the layers with Spellbinders dies.
I put the 2 main layers onto some coredinations paper. I used a brown with orange core from coredinations and ran it through a pumpkin texture folder and then sanded off the show the orange. I also distressed the edges a bit an rolled 2 of the corners.
I used a label maker to make the phrase - just cause.....

All for now - work, sleep, work - it will be a busy week for me - I am off wednesday and will sleep half the day and then I teach all day on thursday and work again friday night.....which reminds me, I need to look up which parts I am teaching this time (so I can review my schtuff so I don't sound like a schmuck.... :)

SPS Halloween

Hallo,
Yes you read the time correct - I did post this at just before 5 am.....got up at 0415 to take DS to swim practice as DD needed to catch up on some sleep....I didnot sleep well at all last night, looking forward to my afternoon pre-night shift nap today!!!!!
But for now I am awake - had promised to make the kids breakfast today - we almost never do an organized breakfast with me working nights and the kids out the door at 0430 for swim practice. They don't have school today due to a teacher work day but after swim practice they will both be at ROTC practice for an upcoming compition all day.....
Todays card was done for the current challenge over at the Sweet Pea Stampers blog . The challenge was for 'spooky halloween' - I don't know how spooky she is but she defiantly fits a Halloween theme. Check out the challenge here - www.sweetpeastampschallenge.blogspot.com
I colored her with copics and cut her out with a Spellbinders die and edged the die with black. Layered her to some Halloween striped paper and then to a black spider webbed panel.
The spider web panel was done with coredinations paper and a spider web texture folder, then I sanded off to reveal the core.
I used double sided tape for the pumkin ribbon and then added black glitter to the spaces between the pumpkins and eyes along the tape line .

I need to get some yard work done today as I was a bit lazy over the weekend....and my pooch already thinks I should take him for a walk, but I will wait for a bit of daylight for both.....meanwhile will prepost for tomorrow as I work tonight and tomorrow night.
All for now - Take Care

Merry Christmas Jar

Hallo,
Well I had a couple hours in the craft room today - my DD had homework and DS was playing video games. I had time to get this card done for a challenge for PTI ( Papertrey Ink).
Check out the challenge here - www.nicholeheady.typepad.com
The challenge was to use die cuts and some Papertrey Ink products. I used stamps from several PTI Jars sets and Spellbinders die cuts.
I colored the images with copics and added some blue liquid beads (tulip - beads in a bottle).
I am slowly getting my Christmas cards done - I have about 35 /40 made and need around 60 to send.....
All for today :)
Have a great week everyone - Its back to work for me tomorrow night :( It has been so very nice to have time off!!!

Purple Dragonfly

Hallo,
Well its Sunday am and my last day of vacation!!!! (pout) but it has been really nice to have some time to just chill !!! I got a bit of crafting done, I studied for and passed my Cardiac Surgery certification test, I turned another year older (48 OMG!!!! shhhhh)....
Today the kids and I are going for lunch at PF Changs - yum!!! And since Micheals is out that way, I will have to make a quick (relatively speaking) turn in there too. I may have to go to A.C. Moore later in the afternoon because my very sweet DH got me a gift certificate :)!!!
Well todays card is my response to the current challenge over at the Impression Obsession blog for the color purple. I used stamp # F2302 Pond Dragonfly and of course colored him purple - the waterlilies are colored
blueviolet....
I cut the main image out with a Spellbinders die and edged the panel with purple ink, I used 2 different shades of purple ribbon and the pearls and base cardstock are purple too :)
Course I love purple anyhow so this was fun!!!
Check out the IO blog for all the dets on the challenge, as well as some great inspiration from the DT - here - http://www.mitrafriant.typepad.com/

All for today - My DH gets home from Talladega tomorrow, too bad I have to work tomorrow night......

House Mouse and thrift finds

Hallo,

A cute little card today from House Mouse - the current challenge is Halloween colors - orange, black, yellow and green (I also added a touch of purple :). The challenge had the option of a Halloween card but I don't have any HM Halloween stamps so made due with the balloons.

I love the expression on the face of the little guy about to pop the balloon :) - I think this card will be going to my sister for her Birthday next week!!!! I did stamp Happy Birthday on the inside :).

I colored this House Mouse image with copics and cut it out with a Spellbinders die and an out of the box technique.
I layered the main image to black polka dotted paper and some orange and green ribbons and then to a green card base.

Check out the challenge over at the House Mouse and friends blog here - www.housemouse-challenge.blogspot.com

The last 3 pics are of a couple of my thrift shop/garage sale finds from yesterday.
The teacup has 'made in occupied Japan' on it - I haven't seen one of these in about 15 years. I have 2 matching teacups and saucers that are also made in occupied Japan, but we found those at a flea market in France when we were stationed in Germany about 15 years ago. I have not seen one since. The cup has a small chip in the rim but even so was a good find for me at only 2 dollars....

The bottles I got for less than 50 cents each - there were about 25 in the box with about 4 of them being the taller ones and the rest the shorter. I already have several ideas.....
Well all for tonight - time to rustle up some grub and then maybe back to the craft room :)

Purple Birthday

Hallo,
Well a short post this am because there are a bunch of thrift shops just waiting for me thios am!!!! Yup that mean that I passed my test!!!!
I am very happy to now have my 'Cardiac Surgery Certification' ....again....I took this test and passed a few years ago the first year it was offered, then when it came time to renew - well it was a very busy summer with the kids and it was the first year after my Mom had her surgery for breast cancer and I just flat out forgot to send in the renewal form - thankfully I had remembered to send in the CCRN (Critical Care certification - for Intensive Care....) earlier in the summer....I waited till this year to renenw so it would be in the same renewal year as the other certification - and hopefully easier for me not to foget again.....
It is COLD out this am - well brisk anyway - for us Floridians anyway - I wonder if I can claim to be a Nebraskan anymore if I think 40 is cold.....
My DH is out of town to go watch a Nascar race and they are campiong out in this 'brisk' weather.....glad its not me :)!!!!! Although the picture of their campfire was pretty sweet - I wouldn't mind sitting around the campfire but when it came time to sleep - I would rather a hotel room. I am definatly a fair weather camper these days!!!!!

Ok - enough chatter - got thriftin to do....
My card today was done for this weeks challenge over at the Outlines blog to make a Birthday card!!!
Check it out here - www.outlineswithkathy.blogspot.com

I took the Outlines ballons stamp and did some paper piecing and some layering - all with purple - the base DP and the DP for the balloons both had bits of blue in them so I used the blue lettering tape to make my Happy Birthday and lastly added some purple flowers from my stash....

All for now - I am out the door!!!!!

Halloween Bouquet

Hallo,
Can you tell I am on vacation - I actually got my FTTC done before monday night :)
I did this of course for the current FTTC challenge over at Flourishes. Unfortunately for me I have no Halloween stamps from Flourishes - no pumpkins, no witches hats or even black cats.....I do however have a ton of their flowers!!!!
I decided to do a Halloween Bouquet with the Zinnias set :).
I colored the Zinnias in Halloween colors and then added a couple bats cut with Spellbinders dies. I coated the bats with black diamond stickles and even managed to capture the sparkle in the photo :).
I used some coordinations paper - brown with orange core and ran it through a pumpkin texture folder and sanded off to reveal the orange.
I am really happy with how this one turned out - the other 2 cards I did yesterday didn't quite hit the mark.
Check out the FTTC challenge here - www.flourishes.org/blog/
Well I had better get on the road - I am driving to Tallahassee today to take a test that relates to work so wish me luck!!!! I have been studying and would really love to pass!!!!
All for now - Take Care

Kitty Thank-you

Hallo,
Another quick card for you all today - I did this one for the current challenge over at Sweet Pea Stampers for a Thank-you card.
Check out the challenge here - www.sweetpeastampschallenge.blogspot.com
I colored the kitty here withprismacolor pencils and the used gold mettalic pen on the wings and eye patch - tried to use some viva decor gold pearl pen on the scrolls but it didnot turn out like I wanted - I couldn't get a thinner line.
Cut the main panel with a Spellbinders die and edged it with gold mettalic pen and then added some gold beads to the round part of the image frame with the viva decor pen - and then some teal pearls too.
Added some flowers made from clear plastic and paper and felt - topped with another teal pearl.
All for today - I need to get preposted for tomorrow....
