Phindy's metal

Hallo,
Just a quick card for you this am - I was determined to play along with a few of my favorite challenges this week and this makes 2 so far :)
This card is for the challenge at Phindy's - this week it is for 'metal'
metal = guy card :) The BBQ grill is colored with prismacolor pencils and then I went over the top with a silver spica glitter pen. I also used mettalic brads to attch the backround panel.
I really like this image from Phindy's - that pooch is so cute just sitting there drooling.
The background panel is done with a texture folder with white core paper and then I sanded the texture - then I distressed the edges a bit and edged them with walnut distress ink.
Stop over to Phindy's for samples and to see what everyone else has done with this challenge - http://www.phindysplacechallenge.blogspot.com/
My Chief Enabler and I are headed to Pensacola today (our last chance until after the holidays between her schedule and mine...) we plan on scoping out a couple antique/flea/thrift places and of course Hobby Lobby. Course we are in for some weather...will probably get rained on starting about lunch time.....

Mo's swirls

Hallo,
Welcome to monday ya'll....
I managed to get 2 cards done today....and then had an errand to run (I had a booth at a local flea market and it just wasn't doing anything, been at it for almost 3 months and I called it quits and packed everything up and brought it home - even managed to miss the rain, got the pick-up unloaded into the garage before it started raining again....) and I had to take my old meowing one to the vet - she has an earache....
I did this card for this weeks challenge over at Mo's Digital pencil - www.mosdigitalchallenge.blogspot.com
I haven't gotten to play with Mo's challenge for awhile now so was glad to find time to make one this week!!! The challenge was for swirls and flourishes so I used this cool swirly texture folder and swiped over the top of the texture with gold and green mettalic rub-on paste. I then edged the panel and the main panel with gold mettalic pen.
Mo's angel is colored with copics and then colored over that with spica glitter pens.

Well not much new here - got antibiotics for old meow and should do a bit of cleaning but I think I will head for the craft room instead......I have a major head cold and I did what 'had' to get done today so the rest can wait.....
I am sposed to go to Pensacola tomorrow with my friend Pat - not sure the head will let me.....I really want to go though.....we will see....

CSS Alumni blog hop

Hallo,
Time for another CSS Alumni blog hop - an inspiration challenge this time. The first photo was our inspiration this time.
If you are following the hop then you came to me from Peggy's blog - http://www.heartfullstamping.blogspot.com/2010/11/css-inspiration-blog-hop.html
where I am sure she had some wonderful eye candy for you!!!
My first card starts with a white card base which I did some faux stitching in red, then the red gingham DP with some faux stitching in white.
I then stamped and embossed with white, the snowflake from this months 'One free with three' set onto the DP.

I used this weeks sketch over at Stamp TV for my layout.
The phrase is from the Heirloom Ornaments set and the main image is also from the 'One free with three' set.
I colored the main image with prismacolor pencils.
The main image is cut out with the Spellbinders tree die and the phrase with a labels die.
My second card starts with a white base and same DP both are faux stitched in red. And again I used this weeks sketch from Stamp TV.
The main image is from the new 'Winter Mittens' set and both ribbons I bought this am (about 6am actually) at Micheals. I only went to 2 places this am - Micheals and A.C.Moore - and really the only reason I actually got up to go shopping is because my old meowing one woke me at 4 am and I couldn't get back to sleep :). Silly old cat is literally 20 years old and she didn't let us sleep much last night....
I cut out the mittens with the coordinating Spellbinders die and added some red and green rhinestones.
All for me today - off you go to Tina's place - http://www.tinagmemories.com/2010/11/css-inspiration-blog-hop.html
for more fabulous inspiration

Patterned Southwest

Hallo,
I managed a bit of time in the craft room today after sleeping a bit this am....should have done a bit more housework but just didn't feel like it....does anyone ever 'feel' like doing housework? I sure don't - I have to force myself every step of the way - even though I love my house and love it when its clean, its still a fight!!!!
I would much rather be in the craft room or even doing yard work - which I really need to do lately too.....
Ah well....
Todays card I did with a new stamp I got from 'Outlines' about a week ago.
Outlines was one of the very first companies that I bought from consistently over the years - I love all their images!!!!
I stamped this southwest collage image on top of some DP that had some great southwesternish colors and then colored in some spots with my copics.
I took this picture in my usual spot but when I edited it I left in the cactus in the backround - I thought it fit well. I spent several travel Nurse assignments in Phoenix a long time ago and really love the area.
The main image I accually stamped a couple time so I could cut out parts and layer them - puzzle style. The card turned out a little darker than I thought it would but I like it!!
All for tonight - Take Care

It's a miscellaneous kinda day

Hallo,
I slept really well today even if my old cat did wake me up a bit earlier than I had intended - it spent an hour in the craft room before getting a shower and supper and heading off to work which was really nice!!!
I did these 2 cards some time ago - I really need some serious stamp time as my stash of saved projects for days such as today is getting mighty low....
The first card was an attempt at a 'quilt' look Christmas card....All stamps from Gina K.
The second card just came together from various card parts that were laying on my desk one day.

The surf board and phrase are from Gina K and the scene on the vellum is from Cornish Heritage Farms.
All for today - last night at work was a really good night - not as crazy busy as it has been so am hopeing tonight is similar!!!!
I am planning for some stamping time tomorrow (although I should do some cleaning too....)

Wedding cake

Hallo,
Just a short little note as I get ready for work tonight - I managed to get a bit of house cleaning done, a bit of time in the craft room and a decent nap in today so I am all set.
This card really does look much nicer IRL - could not get it to photgraph well at all - the cake is a very light green with some clear spica glitter pen over the top. I cut the panel with a Spellbinders labels die and edged it with mettalic gold pen. It is then layered to 2 different ribbons and 2 pieces of DP.
Stamps are from Gina K, colored with copics.
All for today - off to work....

Christmas Gift Tags

Hallo,
I accually got a bit of stamping done today!!!!
This month the challenge over at the Flourishes forum at Splitcoast is for tags.
I have been meaning to get these done for awhile now - I want to do a bunch to give to family this year as a before Christmas gift but time is getting short.....
I used one of my new sets from Flourishes last release just made #1 to make tags with and #2 made to fit Spellbinders dies :) Perfect match!!!
This first one I stamped onto ivory paper with black and colored in with pencils and then layered to a double sided DP also cut with a Spellbinders die. I also used some new ribbon I got from Flourishes too - very yummy ribbon BTW - I may have to get more soon.
The next 2 tags I just stamped with green and then red ink and didn't color in and they look good that way too!!!

I think that if I am going to get a bunch done to send to family that the second 2 will be the way to go - much quicker and they still look really nice.
They do make up very quick with the Spellbinders dies - you can do big batches fairly quick.
I stopped at Hobby Lobby yesterday after class in Pensacola and they had paper packs on sale so I got some great Christmas DP that I will be making up tags with :).
All for tonight - got some blog hoppin' to do :)

Kitchen challenge

Hallo,

I have a challenge for you - Do you love your kitchen? Or are you feeling the need for change....

I being a challenge junkie (mostly with rubber stamping but I guess the fever is spreading...) So I decided to take on the challenge of refinishing my kitchen cabinets (and then repainting the kitchen, hall, laundry room and the bathroom off the hall...)

So I will start you with the before pics....gray cabinets that I have never really liked, and did some stamping on with acrylic paint a few years ago, and a light yellow paint with goldish yellow trim that I also did a few years ago - about 5 or 6 years ago I think.

Here is the kitchen with the cabinets down and then the cabinets in the garage....every day I would haul them out to the driveway to work on them and then haul them back in again....
I didnot get any pics of how they looked sanded - my hands vibrated for 2 days after I was done sanding it took so long - I swear....
And by the time I was staining I was too pooped to take pics....
I took a week and 1/2 off work to do this project and barely got it soreta done - got the staining and the painting done but then had to have DH hang the cabinets and its taken me over a week to get the kitchen put back together.....
Still have some cleaning to do - from all the dust from sanding....
The last 3 pics are of my 'new' kitchen. I stained the cabinets dark walnut - not a perfect job, if you had a close up there are a couple spots where the stain didn't take as well....
The new paint is a light brownish tan and a darker brown trim - the tan was a bvit darker than I had envisioned but I like it, the darker brown is just the color of chocolate....
All in all I like how it turned out but I can tell you right now that I will NEVER - NEVER, NEVER, NEVER refinish all the cabinets again!!!! I will work extra and buy new cabinets or just put up with the old stuff. NEVER!!!!!
Although I do have to admit I plan to refinish my microwave table and the backers rack too so everything matches but not for awhile....not until after Christmas at least.
All for now

Confidance

Hallo,
Tried to work on putting my kitchen back together today but didn't get much done....
I did get a card done for my Secret Sister from Gina K and got it sent.....but I didn't take a pic of it in case she stops by here to visit.... :)
I did this card some time ago - all the stamps are from Cornish Heritage Farms - the same backrounder on the purple layer and the multicolored layer with the gel pen and phrase on it.
I really like this phrase.
All for tonight - I will be in class all day tomorrow in Pensacola - earning some education hours that I need to keep up on certifications.....

Holiday Couch

Hallo,
Two quick little cards for you today - slept longer today thatn I planned but after 4 very busy 12 hour night shifts it sure felt GOOD to sleep!!!!
I am planning on some stamping time tomorrow!!!!
I did these cards awhile back using new stamps from Gina K, some paper piecing and a TJ technique called faux paneling.
The top and bottom DP is the same, only with the botttom I sponged on some ink and drew in floor boards...
This is a fun little set to paper piece!!! Into the Christmas cards stash :)!!

Pink Beauty

Hallo,
A quick post to say Hi before I go to work - last night to work for this rotation and then I have 6 days off!!!!
Well one day I will be in class all day but thats ok.
I am planning on some serious stamping time on wednesday!!! Tomorrow I have a couple errands to run and will try to get the rest of my kitchen put together and organized....
I did this card some time ago and its a rather busy card - was going for a collagey-type look and I think I may have overdone it a bit :)
All the stamps are from Cornish Heritage Farms (sad sigh).

The base is pink cardstock stamped and embossed with a flower backrounder in white. Then a pink ribbon.
Next layer is another backrounder done with a Technique Junkie technique - stamped the backrounder in black on white paper and sponged a couple coordinating colors onto the cardstock and then did some outlines of the flowers with white gel pen (I used the same backrounder as the pink base layer).
Main panel is a combo of several stamps and colored with prismacolor pencils. There is a dot of liquid pearls on her lacy collar.

Color challenge

Hallo,
Another pre-post for you tonight. I did these for this weeks color challenge over at Stamp TV.
The colors are bright red, tourquoise and white and as you can see I did a bunch.....it was my usual debate over which combination so as per usual ended up doing one of each.....
Again I used the new 'Heirloom Ornaments' set and the matching Spellbinders dies.
The cards are pretty self-explanatory so I will keep it short :).

Alumni Blog hop

Hallo,

Prep-posting for you tonight as I am at work - think of me and send a wish for a good night!!! We have been very busy and short staffed lately.....

Tonights feature is a couple cards from our CSS Alumni Blog Hop at Gina K. This time was a color challenge - white or ivory, brown, light blue and yellow.

You should have come to me from
Sharri's blog - www.istamp4u.blogspot.com/2010/11/css-alumni-blog-hop.html
For my 2 cards I used the new "Heirloom Ornaments" set. I stamped them onto DP and embossed them with vintage photo distress powder (for my brown) and then embellished them with gold flat-backed pearls. The first card was done on a white card base and the second was done on a light blue card base.

I really love this set!!!! I matches with the new Spellbinders ornament dies - which I had already bought :)
The next on our hop tonight is Tina - http://www.tinagmemories.com/2010/11/css-color-challenge-hop.html

All for me tonight - Have a great weekend!!!!

Sew Thanks

Hallo,
Well my kitchen is looking more like a kitchen again....I got all the touch up painting done and alot of the boxes unloaded back into the cupboards.....I only worked a couple hours as I was still draggin' from yesterday....DH and kiddos helped a bunch too.
My blog post for tomorrow will be late in the evening (pre-posted) for the Gina K CSS Alumni blog hop :)
I did get some stamping time today - finished off my cards for the blog hop and for a challenge....
I really NEED more stamping time!!! So many projects waiting in line in the back of my brain.....maybe that is why I am rambling a bit tonight :)
I did these 2 cards some time ago - same color theme and stamps but with different ribbons. Stamps from Gina K - colored with copics.
Well thats about all for tonight - I have a small craft fair sponsered by my workplace tomorrow (won't stay all day as I have to work tomorrow night).
