Here comes Valentines day - gift box

 Hallo,
A mellow Saturday for me (till I go to work tonight anyway :) . After taking the pups for a morning walk the hubby took the kids to the shooting range for the day and I have been in the craft room . I finished coloring this sweet image and then used it to make a gift box.
The image is one from Sweet Pea Stamps and is colored with prismacolor pencils. I cut her out and the black panel under her with Spellbinders dies, added some ribbons and some pretty flowers.
The box is 5 by 8 inches and had a drawer to put things in so it would be good for a gift and to put things in after.
Well the rain has started and its time for me to get a nap - the rain has perfect timing - makes taking a nap so much easier :)

Fairy Gift box - City Crafter color challenge

Hallo,
I am getting in just in time for the City Crater challenge this time around. They are doing a color challenge this time with the great combo that I included in the top picture.
Check out the challenge and their challenge blog here - http://www.citycrafter.blogspot.ca/2014/12/city-crafter-challenge-blog-week-242.html
The time Sweet Pea Stamps is sponsoring with the choice of 4 digital images as a prize for the winner - how cool is that!!!!
I used a Sweet Pea Stamps image called 'Fairy 2' by Amy Brown - this image is available as a rubber stamp.
I colored her with prismacolor pencils and fussy-cut her out and used her to decorate a gift box.
I added some stickles glitter to her hair and wings - I put some silver in her hair and on her wings (a loose interpretation of the grayish color from the challenge :)
It has been a rainy weekend here in NW Florida but both my kiddos are now home from college for Christmas break so I am happy :). My DD and I went and saw the latest 'Hobbit' movie which was as wonderful as they have all been. Only a bit sad to see the series come to an end!!! The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings was and still is one of my all time favorite books and the movies really did them justice!!!
All for today - some errands to run and going to try and wrap presents today too (hopefully the puppy wont shread them ) and then work tonight.....I had better get a move on!!!

A rug for Grandma

Hallo,
I hope everyone had a great Christmas season - is everyone all decorated, baked, and shopped out yet :)
My DS got home from college yesterday - and the pups are loving the extra attention. My DD is in route driving and will be home tomorrow evening. Glad I have the weekend off!!!
I finished off this rug about mid December and sent it off to my MIL for Christmas - since she has already opened her present I will go ahead and show you all now :)
I did this locker hook rug with cotton fabrics and used a quilt style pattern called 'log cabin',  and really like how it turned out!!! It is edged in black and the individual panels are outlined in black and then I filled in with tans, browns and blues.
I have already started another rug that my Mom asked me to make - I usually work on my rugs in the evening on the couch while watching tv (if I am not coloring anyhow).
I got to figuring and I probably have enough material of several types to make at least 5 rugs - I am collecting jeans for a couple denim ones and there have been some good stuff at the thrift shops lately  - when I can get good stuff for great low prices I grab it - but I spose I had better stop that for a bit as I am running out of room to store it all.....
All for now - Have a great weekend!!!!

Last minute Christmas cards

Hallo,
Another batch of last minute Christmas cards done today - I got out some of my favorite Christmas stamps from Flourishes (still sad they are no longer in business but at least I managed to get all my favorite sets)
I also got out some watercolors and some thin watercolor paper and painted them up - not as happy with the thin watercolor paper but it will mail better.
I stamped with memento black  ink and also used an embossing folder for the 'Merry Christmas'.
It did take a bit of time to do the watercoloring (as I did about 27 total in this batch) but after that the card was very simple and nice and flat for mailing.
Well my pups are bugging me for their walk and my son gets in today about lunchtime so I had better get my rear in gear so to speak :) My daughter will get here on Saturday so it will be a fun weekend!!!

Simple Christmas cards - Shepard boy

Hallo,
Another batch of quick and easy Christmas cards for you - I almost have all mine made....so close....
I used an image from Sweet Pea Stamps called 'Little Shepard' from Aurora Wings and colored him with prismacolor pencils.
On the first one I had printed him up a bit smaller than the rest and layered him to an embossed background of snowflakes. I edged both panels with a  metallic gold pen and added some gold corner stickers.
For the rest of the cards I layered them to th base cardstock that was embossed with 'Merry Christmas' and I added touches of glitter.
All for now - tons of projects both in and out of the craft room to do and today I am getting a massage - I hae had a gift certificate in my billfold for over a year so I decided it was high time I used it. I have never had a massage before (professionally anyhow - my DH does a wonderful back massage :)

Simple Christmas cards - gift girl

Hallo,
Well I am down to the last minute again this year trying to finish off my Christmas cards - one of these years I might be done earlier :)
Here are some simple cards done with an image from Sweet Pea Stamps called 'Christmas Angel' by Karen Middleton.
I colored her several different ways with prismacolor pencils, cut her out with a Spellbinders die and edged the panel with gold metallic pen.
I layered her to the base cardstock that I embossed with a folder that say Merry Christmas. I added a bit of glitter in spots on the embossing.
Tons of stuff lined up for today - Christmas cards and other craft projects, some house cleaning and a hair cut (long time over due for a hair cut - now if I could only decide what to do with my mop!!)
   Have a great day!!!!

Sweet Pea Stamps - Christmas with a non-Christmas image - hop

 Hallo,
Welcome to the Sweet Pea Stamps blog hop. Each of our wonderful designers have come up with creative ways to use a non-Christmas themed image to create a Christmas themed project! We hope to inspire you to work out of the box for each and every holiday with images you might not consider when crafting.

Please visit each of our talented team members'... blogs and leave a little love - a comment on every hop post will enter you into a drawing for a $20 gift code to the Sweet Pea Stamps store! As an added bit of fun share the hop on Facebook tagging Sweet Pea Stamps for a chance for a $10 gift code to the Sweet Pea Stamps store! Winners will be chosen around the first of next week.
Christmas card making is in full swing in my craft room - had a few more done up early than I did last year but still have a few to go :)
The Sweet Pea Stamps Design Team crew decided to have one more blog hop this year and hopefully this will inspire some ideas for Christmas cards for you too!!!
We decided to challenge ourselves by using a non-Christmas image to make a Christmas card or project.
I used 'Pearl' by Julia Burgess of Sweet Pea Stamps and colored her with prismacolor pencils.
I thought the bubbles looked like Christmas ornaments and colored them red and green - got a bit too much glitter on them I guess as they don't show as bright of red and green as I thought they would - but then again  - Can you really have too much glitter? :)

P.S.  I drew the winner of my blog candy from our last Sweet Pea Stamps DT blog hop a couple days ago and have not heard back from her yet - I left a note on her blog. So I am looking for  Erika Horvathova - please email me or leave me a comment with your email in it and I will get your goodies on the way :)

Sweet Pea Christmas Ornaments

 Hallo,
A quick post today so I can get another hour or so in the craft room before my pre-work nap :)
I colored up a few of this image from Sweet Pea Stamps called 'Little Shepard' from Aurora Wings with copic markers.
Then I cut it out with a circle die and backed the image with some glitter paper. I had to roll it up to get it inside the ornament which is round in width but flattened so its only about an inch and 1/2 thick. I added some small clear beads and that was it.
I think they turned out really cute!!!
I have some more in the works with other SPS images and another type of ornament that I am going to try tracing the image onto and coloring with pencils - we will see how it turns out :)
Okay dokay - off to the craft room I go :)

Thanksgiving - Sweet Pea Stampers challenge

Hallo,
Well we have warmed back up a bit here in NW Florida - temps in the 50/60's in stead of 20's which is nice :)
I had a hard time choosing a Thanksgiving image and ended up with this sweet Indian girl - I have had the image printed up for quite awhile and hadn't gotten around to coloring her yet :)
I colored her with prismacolor pencils and then added some fall leaf stickers and accents in blues and browns.
Join us and you could win some Sweet Pea Stamps images!!!!!
All for today - was on call for work last night so today is a chance to finish up some errands/chores that I didn't manage to get done the last couple days :) - off I go...

Glittered Pearl

 Hallo,
Well the weather has finally warmed back up a bit here in NW Florida - frost all over the rooftops this morning but then it warmed up quick and was 60 degrees by about 830 this am - sunny and very wonderful. The pups took me for a long walk and they had a good run :) and then I spent most of the day in the craft room (aside from and errand or 2 :)
I think I may have gotten a bit too much glitter on her in spots - can you really have too much glitter :)
I used a Sweet Pea Stamps image and colored her with prismacolor pencils and then used and die shaped like a Christmas ornament to cut here out - added some accents with viva décor pens, glitter and some gold Christmas trims and some teal flowers.
I am on call for work tonight which is rare so I am going to shift to the couch now and work on the locker hook rug that I need to have finished in time for Christmas :)

Runaway Graffitti - Sweet Pea Stamps Design team application

 Hallo,
A very cold morning here in NW Florida - 18 degree low and the highs will only be about mid 20's - brrr.
My pups still made me take a long walk though - so now I am warming my fingers with a cup of tea....
I tried a couple new things with this 8 by 10 canvas over the last week or so - my idea was to make the background look like a wall full of graffiti......
The main image I used is called 'Runaway Ruby' by Regan Kubecek from Sweet Pea Stamps and I colored her with prismacolor pencils and then cut her out  from her background.
I had this cute die cut with the lamp post so thought she could be standing there waiting for the bus :) or just to rest.
For the graffiti wall I layered first with a couple pieces from my other addictions - on the right is a piece of encaustic wax (painting using wax that you melt and paint  - in this case with a hot iron) and on the left is part of a zentanlgle I did with flowers and a brick wall background. Once I had these glued on and dry I added some white paint in streaks and a few splatters and then some smaller word graffiti....then I got stuck for awhile :) and spent some time looking up graffiti and then sosme more time deciding what word I wanted to use - decided on 'runaway' and then some more time (about 5 or 6 versions I think) drawing up how I wanted the word to look.
When I had runaway drawn the way I wanted I copied it to the canvus and then painted it white - looked at it awhile longer....decided it needed a bit more so I decided to  tangle the 'runaway' too - thinkin maybe addin the red accents might have been too much but I like it anyway.4
All in all - not my 'USUAL' type of project, but I had fun playing with it  :)
Have a great day - I am off to lunch with some artsy type friends and then back to the craft room for to finish off a couple more projects :)
