Pink roses basket

Hallo,
Another vintage plate basket for you today. This plate is about 6 inches, and the basket is about 7.5 inches round and 3 inches deep.
These are so much fun to make, The only hard part is deciding what colors and pattern to use. I really like the spiral pattern, simple but interesting.
   All for today.

Large plate basket

Hallo,
I now have a not so small collection of vintage reticulated plates - the kind folks used to hang on the walls for decoration. I am using them as a base for baskets - the holes around the edges are perfect to attach the coil to.
I did this one for a Christmas present.
The plate is an 8-inch plate and the basket is about 14 inches round and 4 inches deep. It took me about 12 to 14 hours to make.
There will be a bunch more of these plate baskets to come....I think I am addicted!!!

Butterfly basket

Hallo,
Between 2 long driving trips I did a bunch of baskets, and we are down to the last one .
I used a vintage drink coaster that I found at a thrift shop for the base, paper coil and hemp cording.
This little basket is about 6 inches round and 2.5 inches deep and it took me around 6 hours to do.
  Have a great day!!

Sunrise at Eaton Ranch

Hallo,
Another painting from my workshop in Wyoming in early sept. This painting combines several of my photos with encaustic wax.
The base photo was printed onto cardstock and glued to a cradled wood panel - the sunrise with horses in the background. I added a few layers of wax and added details/texture with wax to the background.
The photo of the appaloosa was printed onto tissue paper and embedded into the wax.
I then added a lot of texture to the foreground and added details to the horse.
Lastly I added the texture in gold to  the bottom inch of the painting(many layers of wax. Added a line of gold foil and then carved in the little horse brand and filled it in with black.
Painting is available on my Etsy shop. It is 14 W by 11H and 1D. (coupon code 'ARTSOUL30' - for 30 % off all my paintings right now.

Butterfly coaster basket

Hallo,
I found a vintage drink coaster set at a thrift shop and am giving them new life as the base for these cute little baskets. The coaster had holes around the edges which made it very easy to attach the coil.
I use paper coil and hemp cording for my baskets.
This one is 7 inches round by 3 inches tall and took me about 6 hours to make.
I can't just sit and watch TV after super in the evenings, so I always have handwork of some kind to keep my hands busy.

Bay Beauty

Hallo,
Still trying to catch up ion everything around here. We just got back from spending some time with my Grandbabies (and their parents :).
In the last month and a half, I have been out of town 3 weeks of that time frame.... now I get to try and get caught up, get Christmas taken care of and wait for Grand #3 to arrive next week.
This is one of the paintings I did at my Eaton Ranch workshop the beginning of sept.
I painted the background with encaustic. The horse is a photo I too that was printed onto tissue paper and then embedded into the wax. I then painted texture and added details with more encaustic. This gentleman posed so perfectly for me!!!
I added this painting to my Etsy shop this evening. Look for him tomorrow as I publish my Christmas sale (30% off my entire shop).
   Have a great evening!!!

Appaloosa

Hallo,
I thought you might be getting tired of baskets so.....
First part of sept. I took a photo encaustic class at Eaton's Ranch in north central Wyoming.
Best of two worlds for me - art and horses. We got to ride almost every day and then pop over to the studio for class.
This painting uses 3 of my photos. The horseshoe background was printed on cardstock and glued to the wood panel. I then added several layers of encaustic for textures and to tone the background down a bit.
The next 2 photos of the horse and the skull and antlers were isolated and printed onto tissue paper and then embedded into the wax. I then added more encaustic to accent and add more elements.
I have always been a big fan of appaloosa horses - lots of color and patterns.
I finished off a total of 4 paintings in the weeklong class so more to come.

Octopus sculpture

Hallo,
Discovered that I hadn't shared this little guy yet.
This sculpture started with a small piece of driftwood which I attached to a flat piece of wood.
The octopus and all the coral and decorations are made with paper clay and painted with encaustic wax.
I really enjoy making these little pieces, but they do take  a while to do.
   All for today, take care!

Spiral basket

Hallo,
Spirals - so fun to do!! Another car project for a long drive.
I used 1/4-inch coil and hemp twine.
I find it hard to read in the car so this keeps me busy without annoying the Hubby with 'excessive conversation' 😁
  Have a great day!!!

Loopy yellow basket

Hallo,

A couple little out of town trips with lots of driving time leads to me finishing off several small baskets this month.

The base of the basket is a circa 1970's drink coaster.

I tried something new with the loopy stuff today.

  More baskets to come.

Big pink and purple basket

Hallo,
I finished off this basket almost 2 months ago - I am a little slow catching up. I made this basket for my Grandbabies to put toys in.
I used 3/4 inch coiled and used yarn from my overly big stash (considering I haven't knitted in about 15 years now...
The basket is about a foot deep and almost 2 feet around.
   Have a great day!!!

Butterfly basket 1

 Hallo,

A small basket to show off today. For the basket start (aka bottom) I used an old drink coaster from the 70's. These came with a big tray for the drink picture and usually 6 individual coasters for the glasses. The big tray and one of the glass coasters were broken when I found these but 5 are good to use.  The finished basket is 7 inches round by 3 inches tall.
I started this basket on my flight to Wyoming last week, worked on it a bit during the week - something to clear my brain before bed. I finished this one on the flight back and started another - tune in tomorrow.
    Have a great week.
