Bay Beauty

Hallo,
Still trying to catch up ion everything around here. We just got back from spending some time with my Grandbabies (and their parents :).
In the last month and a half, I have been out of town 3 weeks of that time frame.... now I get to try and get caught up, get Christmas taken care of and wait for Grand #3 to arrive next week.
This is one of the paintings I did at my Eaton Ranch workshop the beginning of sept.
I painted the background with encaustic. The horse is a photo I too that was printed onto tissue paper and then embedded into the wax. I then painted texture and added details with more encaustic. This gentleman posed so perfectly for me!!!
I added this painting to my Etsy shop this evening. Look for him tomorrow as I publish my Christmas sale (30% off my entire shop).
   Have a great evening!!!

Photo encaustic class at Eaton's Ranch.

   Hallo,

I spent all of last week up in Wyoming at Eaton's Ranch for a photo encaustic class. Using our own photos in our encaustic paintings. Of course, being at the ranch means lots of horses to take pictures of. These are the 4 paintings I finished last week.(looks like you will need to click on the photo to see all 4...)
The top left and bottom 2 paintings combined 2 different photos for each. The first photo was printed onto cardstock and glued to the wood panel.  I then added several layers of encaustic to add effects to the background I wanted to achieve. The next step was to print the horse images onto tissue paper and embed them into the wax. I then added more encaustic wax to enhance and finished off the paintings.
In the top left one I added a border in texture white and gold encaustic and then carved in the ranches brand.
The top right painting I painted the background with encaustic and then embedded the horse image into the wax. I then added encaustic and texture to finish off the painting.
If you ever wanted to learn this way to use photos with encaustic wax, then take a class with Clare O'Neill - this is the second time I have done this class. A week of horses, horseback riding and painting is my idea of a great vacation!!!
    Have a great day!!!

Photoencaustic - Forest

Hallo,

I have been up in Wyoming at Eaton Ranch in Wolf at a photoencaustic class. We got to take pictures of the horses and even go riding in addition to the encaustic class. It was a wonderful class and trip for me!!!

The First 2 pictures are 2 of my finished paintings. The next 2 are the original photos that I took to use in the paintings.

I did a colorful encaustic background on 2 boards.

The photos were isolated and printed out onto tissue paper. I put a layer of white encaustic under where the horses would go. The next 2 pictures show how the tissue paper disappears into the wax. Then I added some texture and other stuff to hide the edges better.

I was very happy with these 2 paintings!!! One of them sold on the last day when we had a little open house!!!

All for today - Take Care
