Moments in springtime

Hallo,
  And good morning!!! Another busy spring day for me - yard work, house work, nap, softball game and then work tonight....oh and yes getting a hair cut (LOOONNNG overdue)
   Todays card is for the current challenge over at Impression Obsession which is for spring. I have been doing lots of yard work - pulling weeds and planting flowers and watering plants - so this image was perfect :)
   I colored it with koh-i-noor pencils and layered it to some teal and matching DP's. A bit of 2 ribbons, a lady bug charm and another charm with a phrase on it for accents and I am off and running for the day. The phrase on the one charm says - 'Moments in time'

Summer Hummingbird

Hallo,
  Another beautiful spring day in NW Florida!!! The birds are singing, my doors and windows open and puppy is ready for her walk....just need a bit more daylight for the walk and waiting to see if one of my neighbors wants to walk with us this am.
  Going to be a busy day - a bit of yard work, a bit of house work and some craft room time (I am still trying to finish off all the Christmas ornaments I overloaded myself with at Christmas time.....about a dozen left to decorate and I am determined to finish them before putting them away...course its starting to look like it might be Christmas again before I get them done....)
   Also have a softball game tonight too....
   Todays card I made for this months release challenge over at Flourishes - the challenge is 'summer' and/or the colors from the inspiration photo - pinks and greens. Check out the challenge here - www.flourishes.org/blog/
   The stamps I used are all from Flourishes - the main image I did with watercolors and koh-i-noor pencils. I layed down the first layer of color over it all and the background with the watercolors and then finished it off with the pencils
  The phrase at the bottom is one of my newer sets from Flourishes - I love the combination of big and small text and all the interchangeable phrases.
   The pinks of the image and paper and ribbon really do match nicely but somehow in the photo they look just a bit 'unmatchy'
   I used a bronze viva decor pen and a small bee charm for accents.
    All for today - time to get shoes on and let puppy take me for a walk.....

Layered ribbons

 Hallo,
   Well it has been a busy couple of weeks and even though I haven't posted as much as I usually do that doesn't mean I haven't been crafting :).
I have been working on my latest locker hook rug and trying to start organizing my craft room in preperation for moving it into my DD's room at the end of the summer (belive me, if we start in late June I may be done sometime near Christmas....I really hope sooner but boy this is going to be a project!!!!)
  My DD is a Senior this year so ther has been more and more to do as we get closer to graduation (speaking of that - I have to get the graduation announcements out this week....)
And my DD's HS hosted a weeklong softball
tournament last week which kept her and I very busy...and our HS is also hosting the District tourny too which I think is in 2 weeks....
  My Puppy and I have been taking long walks in the woods alot lately (while the weather is still so nice and cool :) she LOVES it - where I go is far enough off the road and such that I can let her off the leash - she covers about 3 times the milage as I do chasing squirrels and rabbits and occasionally deer.
   ANYWAY - Todays card is for the current Tuesday challenge over at Flourishes which was to use at least 2 ribbons. I used 3 ribbons and the main image from the "Joy is in the Air" set from Flourishes.
   I colored it with prismacolor pencils and cut it out with a Spellbinders ornament die - layered it to some Christmas paper and 2 wintery ribbons and a third ribbon to match. I accented with some gold liquid pearl drops (tulip fabric paint....)

   And did you see - the gals at Flourishes are hosting a class coming up Saturday April 20th!!!! It looks like so much fun. But I have family in town that week - my DH and his friend Mike are going to one of the dinners during the Doolittle Raiders Reunion. We don't get a chance to hang out with these guys much so I am hoping Jan Marie has more classes this summer so I can go hang out with the crew of one of my all time favorite stamp companies!!!
   All for today - I should do a bit of house cleaning yet today.....or maybe I will just sneak back to the craft room.....

Locker Hook addict....

 Hallo,
   Welcome to saturday morning - the DH and I took puppy for her walk, had a bit of breakfast and now I am sitting at the computer trying to decide what to do next.....can you guess what the most likely next activity will be ?:)
   Puppy got really long walks the last 2 days and I did yard work the last couple days too...its a beautiful morning so might head out to the yard again for a bit (once summer hits Florida the yard work is not nearly as much fun - waaayyy to HOT!!)
  I really should clean house but its the end of spring break week here and I have a feeling that if I clean today, I will have to do it all over again on Monday....so I have decided to leave it until Monday....even though both the kids are working today.....any excuse to avoid house work :)
  I work tonight and tomorrow night so really am feeling a bit lazy today .....
  Showing you some pictures of my latest locker hook project - I spent about 2 hours cutting fabric strip for the yellows yesterday....each of the flower petals will be a different but repeating shade/pattern - this first flower in more goldish yellows. I am planning for each flower to be a slightly different shade and then the background that is left will be in teals and turquoises....
  This is another big one - 30 by 36 with 5 squares per inch so my strips are 3/4 inch wide... I am planning for this one as a wall hanging....
   I already have an idea for another one with a similar theme......since I seem to have plenty of fabric....wasn't sure how much I would need....
  I am planning for some fun additions to this one too - like some fun furr yarn poofing from the centers of the flowers and maybe some white funfurr clouds....could be fun :) And I am thinking I may have some fringe around the edges - maybe in yellow.....
   Well all for now - going to head outside for a bit.....

March Gina K CSS hop - sparkles

  Welcome to this months Gina K CSS Alumni blog hop - our theme this time is 'Simplicity Sparkles' to make a clean and simple card and use only embellishments that sparkle.

   If you are following along the hop then you came to me from the very sweet and talented Miesje  http://miesdf.blogspot.com/2013/03/css-simplicity-sparkles-blog-hop-3-26.html  and I am sure she had some great eye candy!!

Also part of the challenge for this time we are using sets from releases from September 2012 through Februrary 2013.
I chose the 'Beyond Baskets' set combined with the older 'Holiday Baskets' set. I did a small bit of masking and then colored with copics. I cut the image out with a Spellbinders die and used an out-of-the-box technique and then edged it with a gold mettalic pen.
  I colored over the top of the flowers with yellow glitter pen and then added more glitter with some clear stickles.
  In 2 of the corners I added some gold pearl drops with a touch of stickles over the top after they dried for some sparkle.

   I am at work again tonight and then have 3 days off!!!! Yippee!!!

IO, all about the dies....

 Hallo,
   Just a quick note because it is almost nap time for me - work the next couple nights.....
   Took puppy for a long walk in the woods this am - the breeze was a bit cold for me but she LOVES it, very hyper this am!!!
   I did this card up for the current challenge over at the  Impression Obsession blog - www.mitrafriant.typepad.com
   The challenge this time is to use dies - I only have 2 IO dies but they both fit well for this card :).
  I had this image colored up since last fall so it made a quick and easy card for me today :) This stamp is 'Witchy Kitty' #F2339 and I used the IO shaker die and the IO fence die too.
  I used prismacolor pencils onto kraft cardstock for the image and accented with some bronze Viva Decor pens.
   All for today - nap time :)

Spring flowers

 Hallo,
   Well its a beautiful warm sunny day here in NW Florida - too bad its going to be cold (for us anyhow - lows in the 40's) and windy tomorrow.
   I had a couple cards to make for challenges this week and only managed to get this one done - and only because I had the image already colored :)
   We got up later than normal and went for a long walk, then lunch at one of our favorite places right by the water...then when I came home I ran over to JoAnn's because I had a coupon for 25% off even sale items - found some fabric and a pad of paper on sale which with the coupon were really good deals - I should have plenty of fabric to keep me busy hooking (locker hook - that is) for awhile.
   After I finished off this card - I took my new locker hook project out to the patio and worked on it for awhile.
