Project/Tutorial round 2.
More suplies for my project - the plaque, stazOn ink - jet black and timber brown, cat stamp is from Cornish Heritage Farms and photos of my 2 oldest babies.
This photo shows 4 colors on white card stock - light blue, navy, purple, and green - 2 columns of a light application and one of a heavier application. To blend you dip the tip of the blending stump into the mineral spirits and start rubbing over the color to pull it where and how much you want. When it starts to pull or stcik on the paper dip again. The mineral spirits doesn't get 'oily' very easy so just practice until you get the feel of it.
In this photo I blended the second and third columns - the heavier the color is initially the more color you can pull off. In the third column starting with the navy I pulled color up with a circle motion from the top and off the bottom in straight lines down. With the purple I then went over the bottom and pulled more color downward diagonally.
You can pull color anyway you like depending on the effect you want and you can pull as much color as you want .
These pencils are made to layer and blend - you can add layers with or without blending for different effects. You can even dry blend with a Qtip or small tools used for coloring with chalks.

More silly stuff and the start of a project/tutorial

Hallo,
Well I suvived my days to work (3 - 12 hour shifts in a row gets harder to do every year) and I survived the 5am to 730 pm field trip with 4 bus loads of 6 & 7th graders.....
The first thing I played with today was to finish off another card made with Gina K Designs 'Way to go' set - I call this the Manly thinkin spot - the toilet and rug are done with a backround stamp from Cornish Heritage Farms of diamond plating and the 'photos' in the backround are inchies made with some left over Harley paper from one of my 6-pack box projects that I did.
My next project is going to be a plaque depicting my 2 cats
Fancy (age 17) and Cochiese (went to kitty heavon last year at age 14).
I thought I would take pics of the project as I am going on (it will take me several days) and give you a little tutorial on prismacolor pencils as well.
Looks like Picassa is only going to let me post 3 pics with this post so I will probably have several posts today.
The first 2 pics in the tut are supplies - the Prismacolor pencils, some oderless mineral spirits (paint thinner) and a smaller container of same makes it easier for me to work with,
blending stumps, a pencil sharpener made for soft pencils(if you use a regular sharpener or an electric you will break leads ALOT and waste the pencils - I found this out the hard way :) They have different sizes of the stumps for blending small areas or large.

Also shown is the block of sanding paper you can buy with the stumps - it has dual purpose as it will sand off the color you just used so you have a clean one to blend next with and you can use it to keep the stump sharp for detail work.
In the last pic you can tell which one I have been using.

Good Clean Fun

Hallo,
I got a new set of rubba to play with in the mail today - I have been planning what to with this set since it first came out. The set is from Gina K and is called 'Way to go'. I will show you all 3 cards I made with this set today because I work the next 3 days and on friday am going on a field trip with my son's class (- 5 am to 630 pm - 5 bus loads of 6th graders - wish me luck!!!), so you probably won't see me again until the weekend.
This first card features my rowdy kitten (from All Night Media - back in 1989 - scat cat), some thin white ribbon as toilet paper, and the backround has marbled wallpaper for the floor and a handmade paper for the walls - the idea was a real no-brainer as I have 2 - 4 month old kittens in the house :) LOL
This second card is called - Aaarrgg! - obviously :) - features a pirate and the water is done with chrystal laquer for a 3-D effect.
And last but certainlt not least is the Queen of the golden glitter toilet - The Throne Diva herself showing how best to accessorize when one has a golden commode. LOL - As you can see I have had fun today with my new stamp set!!!
My son likes the Kitten one even over the Pirate - but the Pirate is 'almost' as good he says. The glitter is Stickles - arrived in the same pkg. from Gina K. today.

Thomas Kinkade Christmas

Hallo,
Doing Xmas cards today - I accually got out of class early today so had a little time to play (I teach ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support at the hospital I work for-required certification to work in Critical care areas as in ICU, ER, OR...)
Anyhoo - these are the cards I have been working on, stamped one day, colored in while sitting on the couch with the family at night and today cut, layered, embellished and finished. I finished 12 today and have a bunch more to color over the next couple nights - I work the next 2 days - 12 hrs each.
The stamp is "Silent Night" by Thomas Kinkade from Cornish Heritage Farms and the backround stamp is also CHF called Victorian Pattern backround. I did a faux layer around the colored spotlight and then a real navy blue
layer lined with silver pen, embellished with glitter glue (from JoAnn's) and a rectangle silver charm that says 'Peace On Earth'.
I colored the spotlights with prismacolor pencils, blended with oderless mineral spirits. I tried 2 different 'Navys' - one a very dark navy and one lighter but the backround ink for both is Staz On - midnight blue. I tried to get pics that would show how the different navy blues look, not a huge difference and I like the look of both.
All for now - will probably be back Sunday evening ( I have Sunday off this weekend :)

Hallo all,
I've had a busy couple days without much stampin time so am pulling some pics of the copper wire hangings I made. I started making them as Christmas presents about 3 years ago and couldn't stop - they were fun. I took them to craft fairs (in addition to stamping stuff ) for the last couple years. I did manage to get most of my "to send" Xmas presents wrapped and sent on monday - and tuesday I had the annual chest flattening appointment and then rewarded myself by getting my nails done :). I did manage some stamping time yesterday to stamp a bunch from one of my Thomas Kinkade stamps and started coloring them on the couch while the kids and I watched 'Tin Man" on TV. I worked today and teach a class at work tomorrow am - so hopefully will have stampin pics for ya tomorrow evening :).

DP Xmas scrap cards

Hallo,
Busy day here - kids got their science fair projects typed and on the boards (DD is finishing as I type). I made a big batch of bath salts to send for Xmas gifts and the kids and I made one batch of soaps - need one more batch of that after supper also to send out for Xmas gifts - Of course they will be packaged in my 6-pack gift boxes that I've done so many of :).
I did manage some time at the craft table where I started my Xmas cards - finally - I wanted to use up some of the scraps from the papers I used to cover boxes so here's some examples of what I did with those. I seperated the strips into blues, greens and reds and then put them on different solid cardstocks. Small ornament is Stampin Up and the larger one is - Good Stamps - Stamped Goods - from a long time ago but it's one of my favorites at Christmas time.
All for tonight - more Xmas cards tomorrow - my total this year to send is about 70 - and I have about 40 to go, plus some extra for one of my coworkers who wants to purchase some.

try, try again.....

Well this makes the second try so we'll see if I can get it to work this time - I (with the help of my DH) uploaded Picasa on my computer today and after several hours of rearranging thought I was ready to try to 'Blog This' - First attempt disappeared into cyberspace so lets see what happens this time. If I can get this to work I will try to upload a slideshow yet tonight (its only 1115 pm - I am usually asleep by 9 on workdays/10 weekends - ya I know how lame...:).
Well for your viewing pleasure/amusement and/or
entertainment I have pics of....MORE gift boxes. These were 2 of my favorites that I did on tuesday finishing up for my craft fair.
The first is a tropical Santa, sporting shorts to match the paper and a bit of a sunburn and the second box is a very girly Bubble Queen in her bath - with the box paper being pink, silver, gray and black - 2 matching papers were used on the second one.
All stamps are Stampin Up and colored with my prismacolor pencils.
