Yoga skellie pumpkin

 Hallo,
Preposting this for you to see today since I have to be to work early this am....
I did this for the pumpkin decorating contest at my local Arts Centers Halloween party, which was last night (sadly it didn't win...)
I took a turquoise hard foam pumpkin and decorated it with zentangle and then added some cobwebs in white. I found this great yoga skellie at JoAnns and added some shading with copic markers and the black cat is a wood cut out that I painted black and then used some silver webbing spray on.
I had fun with this one and he is going to be in my Halloween decorations box for many years.
The party was loads of fun - I dressed up as Frida Kahlo - my daughters comment was "Oh good, you found a costume to go with your eyebrow" - cheeky kid - pic at the bottom of the post.....I am the Frida on the right, there were 2 of us Fridas…...

Steampunk Earring Pumpkin

Hallo,
Well I got in more walking today than I intended on - sometime mid-morning I noticed one of the younger cats was not in its usual sleeping spot (the cats have figured out the doggy door, so the only time I can leave it unblocked is when I am sitting at the computer within sight of the door) Well I got up to make a restroom trip and came back and Shadow was gone - he had been sleeping in the chair next to mine by the computer..... so I searched the back yard quick as I was only gone a few minutes with no kitty, so I searched the house and then a more thorough search of the house(under beds, behind furniture and every hidey hole know to me), shaking the treat jar and then even opening a can of canned food for my old one, which usually brings the younger cats (and the puppy for that matter) running, and still with no Shadow.
Ok - another massive search of the back yard, then the front yard, then the house again, and then a walk around the block - its been an hour by this time.....DS gets home and he searches the house, back yard, front yard and down the street....2 hours now, I call the animal shelter and give a description to them in case someone finds him. I leave the patio doggy door open  with a bowl of food and the garage door cracked so if Shadow comes home he has some shelter at least  and we met the DH for lunch, DD meets us after taking the ACT exam and is tee'd off at Mom (me) for letting her cat get loose.....
After a quick lunch I come home, make signs and start walking the neighbor hood - knocked on all my neighbors doors to ask them to keep their eyes open, then knocked on the doors of the folk who live behind us, because through a whole in the fence (which should have been to small for this big fat cat) is the most likely escape route, and then I walk and hung up 3 signs and total all spent about an hour  walking, calling Shadow, Shadow, Shadow......
DD calls (she is at home trying to do homework) Shadow is not only home but apparently was in the house the whole time - he obviously has a hiding spot that I didn't know about yet.....eyes rolling....I spend another half hour walking to take down the signs I just put up.....
So another hour and a half walk on top of the 45 minutes with the DH and the puppy this am - I'd say I can skip the exercise bike today :)

Today's project is another of my steampunk pumpkins - this one is my favorite!!! Between the skull on top and the big hardware for his eyes, he got a bit off balance so that is how he acquired the big ol earring  and the bolt in his lip too :).
I used a fake carve able pumpkin and a chipboard skull and covered them with strips of shiny duck tape and then added texture with various tools. Then I rubbed black ink into the edges of the tape and the texture. Then the fun begins - adding hardware and doo dads for his face and decorations :)
I added a silver wintery flower to the side of the skull too :)
All for today - still have a bit of time I can get into the craft room before we go take homecoming pics with my DD's friends.....and then the Husker game!!

Girly Steampunk Pumpkin

Hallo,
Do you like Steampunk?? I do - I finished off the last of the steampunk style pumpkins that I had started and got pictures of them yesterday. Too bad I didnt get these done in time for the craft fair because they turned out really cute!!!
I did take them down to 'Fiddley Bits and Tea' (local artsy consignment shop/tea and lunch place - very cool!!!) downtown and will have them there until after Halloween so maybe some of them will find a good home :).
I did these with either the fake pumpkins made to carve or chipboard pumpkins - this one was the first. I cut strips of shiny duck tape and placed them at differnt angles and them added some texture and marks with various tools. I them rubbed some ink into the tool marks and edges.
Then came the fun part - some of the hardware is from DH's odds and ends bucket, but I did go to Ace Hardware and brouse the rows picking up lots of stuff that looked good - those folks thought I was crazy :)
For this girly pumpkin I used some screen mess kinked into bows and secured with a decorative furniture tack, which I also used on her eyes, copper staples and copper tacks for eyebrows, mouth and earring. I even added an old button to the brass nut that I used for her nose.
Ok, thats all for this am - puppy says its almost time for her walk (I guess that means I need to change outta my PJ's) and then a bit of yard work and a baby box to finish.
   Have a great day!!!

Steampunk pumpkin

Hallo,
I am pre-posting for this am as the DD and I are off to Tallahassee(Fl. state capital) - DD has an interview with one of our Florida Senators in regards to her application for endorsement for the Air Force academy...wow that was a mouthful....
I am hoping to get back in time to get some craft time this afternoon - only 2 days left after today till my craft fair!!!
I finished off this little cutie yesterday - I started with a fake pumpkin and a cardboard witches hat and covered them with strips of shiny duck tape. The I used several tools to press some texture marks into the tape.
I then sponged some black alcohol ink on both and then with a bit of rubbing alcohol on a cloth and wiped off most of the black - leaving the texture showing up better.
I used stuff I found in my DH's garage (scrap/extras drawer) to make the pumpkins face.
I glued the crows onto the rim of the hat and gave the 'boy' crow a tie and a lug nut  hat and the 'girl' crow a bow and a button hat - gee they are cute :).
I found the crows at the Dollar store and after seeing what my friend Vicki ( www.vickichrisman.blogspot.com ) had done with some, I couldn't resist getting a few to play with too!!!

Pumkin Shaker

Hallo,
Just a quick hallo and off to sleep this am.
I did this card for the current challenge over at the Impression Obsession blog which is to use dies - I used their new die made to fit over the shaker boxes - talk about an easy way to make a shaker card!!! This die cut a cover for both the large and small square shaker boxes - which are self adhesive BTW and between the 2 make it super easy  and quick to make a shaker!!!
The stamp I used is  'Jack with house' #H1838 and I colored him with copics.  I layered the main image to a Spellbinders die and then used the IO shaker die on top - and decorated it with a viva decor pen in bronze, and then added a couple leaf shapes made from shrink plastic. The base cardstock is kraft embossed with a leaf pattern and sponged with walnut stain distress ink.
